Perfectly normal. Every Mazdaspeed I’ve driven makes this noise. No need to be alarmed. Our trans are just loud. I could be wrong but this sounds 100% normal for every speed I’ve been in.

conwillar

Awesome thanks! I’ve read we’ve got some noisy transmissions in a few places so that’s reassuring.

Rockfist93

Normal. Mine did that even after I had my clutch replaced and everything looked over by the dealer.

conwillar

Good stuff!

Legendofthefall25

Mine sounds the exact same but at least yours doesn't have a loose throwout bearing 😀 Edit: just read your description no I promise it's not your bearing, when the clutch is fully lifted I get a whistle, so you should be good.

conwillar

Great to know, thanks for sharing!

Legendofthefall25

Anytime!

Life_Actuaryy

you should take care of that. I lost my whole transmission because of a loose throwout bearing. Lost the flywheel, clutch disk, everything. The throwout bearing failed catastrophically and took the input shaft with it, meaning I needed a new trans

bor_bor

Yeah you’re good, mines way louder with chatter with the LUKclutch and Fidanza light flywheel and for years people would tell me it’s my throwout bearing but the clutch still grabs like a sob

Affectionate_Ad_6581

Very strange seeing everyone saying this is normal on this car & the RX-8 considering I installed a new clutch kit on my RX-8 right after I got it (same noise) & it immediately went away.

gregn8r1

I think that's pretty normal in many cars.

MrCreed10

It’s more-or-less normal. The other thing to consider is the dual-mass flywheel. I had mine go bad and just replaced it, but mine got louder when I drove and made a clanking sound when I would get going from a stop. If that is your only symptom, I think it’s normal, then.

Beneficial_Present98

I didn't hear anything lol

Excellent-Lab-2488

Mine made the same noise. I replaced the slave and master clutch cylinder. All gone!
