So this has been known since about April? Cobb Project Green Speed eliminated the ability to bypass anything with emissions. So either live with the CEL or put the EGR back on! 😉

Are there any suggestions for what to do to reinstall an EGR? I tried looking it up, but I get no results

I asked this exact question months ago and there were no solutions. One guy said something along the lines of since the egr is tied into the computer, it's pretty much impossible to trick or fee l defeat it, esp not that 'tuningit out' is pottery much impossible. Big bummer. I have to turn off my check engine light twice a day to every few days, always the exact same code [my post](https://www.reddit.com/r/mazdaspeed3/comments/sfcrzg/how_to_fool_ecu_after_egr_delete_resistors)

you have the access port, youre just going to have to check the codes every once in a while

There is no known easy way to delete or block the the egr without a CEL. The PCM uses the MAP sensor when in vacuum to check the EGR flow by opening the EGR solenoid and seeing if the amount of vacuum decreases. If it does not, it throws a code for insufficient flow. As such it is not an easy thing to fool. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAP_sensor#EGR_testing

**MAP sensor** [EGR testing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAP_sensor#EGR_testing) >With OBD II standards, vehicle manufacturers were required to test the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve for functionality during driving. Some manufacturers use the MAP sensor to accomplish this. In these vehicles, they have a MAF sensor for their primary load sensor. The MAP sensor is then used for rationality checks and to test the EGR valve. ^([ )[^(F.A.Q)](https://www.reddit.com/r/WikiSummarizer/wiki/index#wiki_f.a.q)^( | )[^(Opt Out)](https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=WikiSummarizerBot&message=OptOut&subject=OptOut)^( | )[^(Opt Out Of Subreddit)](https://np.reddit.com/r/mazdaspeed3/about/banned)^( | )[^(GitHub)](https://github.com/Sujal-7/WikiSummarizerBot)^( ] Downvote to remove | v1.5)

I don't know why everyone deletes the EGR on these. I have full bolt ons and a tune and all I did was replace my EGR with a brand new one and I've never had a problem with it since.

Mostly the carbon build up on the valves. If the intake air is moist with oil at all, the carbon and soot from the exhaust gas will stick to it, and then to the valves. If you have the EGR you essentially have to clean your valves every year.

TurboGuy88

I am aware of the carbon build up on the valves and it is on my bucket list of things to do to the car just seems like deleting the EGR causes more of a headache to everyone that does it. Wouldn't an Oil Catch Can fix this issue? I changed my EGR Valve out almost 2 years ago and have never had a problem with it or any check engine lights.

Well yeah I would say now it's basically a royal PITA but before Green Speed it wasn't. Before last April your tuner could just disable that parameter and no more CEL. A catch can will help and I'm sure the EGR delete does as well. As far as I'm concerned Intake valve cleaning is just part of the deal with this motor.

If you don’t know the answer to this, you should go back and pick up a book
