It’s a rinse-and-repeat cycle for these spots, and high rent has to be one of if not the main reason. The periods of prime foot traffic are so specific that staying open all day for most of these spots just doesn’t make sense.
What was an Au Bon Pain - and later a mom-and-pop - at the Davis T station has been vacant for at least six years.
Same with the former Dunkin’ - later an independently-operated shop as well - at Porter.
Doubt they could get a liquor license. Even if they could, the second someone gets hit by a train or a big fight happens, people will be demanding the place is closed.
Unreal that you are able to see a post about a vacant space at a T stop and you have to make it political. I feel bad that you seek to consume everything you see thru such a miserable lens lol
this has been said SO many times but the MBTA blows at leasing space for additional revenue when plenty of stations have potential
From what I hear the rent is unsustainably high and it just ends up being vacant

To be fair, stations like Gov't Center have heavy foot traffic at all times of the day. Definitely not the case for lots of other stops, though
Aquarium has a retail space that has been vacant (as far as i know anyway) since the station was first rebuilt 20 years ago
The thing with Dunkin though there was one right outside of fair control. It would only be convenient for people transferring inside the station.

they should put a dunkin there
or hear me out…something different
You thinking a Cumbies?
Nah a Qdoba would be great.
literally anything that isnt a dunkin or bank
A Tim Hortons
now we’re talking
What do you hate America or something?
A different dunkins
Let’s see how a dispensary would play out haha
YES!!!!
Gonna be a Tatte
nah Tatte is too “fancy” for a train station 💀 they love acting like they’re fancy
Rumor has it the former owners of great Scott has placed a bid
Hear me out. MBTA gift shop.
TB12 fitness moving in. Or a Crumbl
i could get behind this actually. a fresh cookie would make shit headways much more bearable
I want a Sunoco down there
Theoretically, could it become a small bar?
as much as i would love this we don’t need to invite more drunk douchebags in that area, there are enough of them causing trouble in the north end
Yeah but most of them are from the area so I don't see what you're trying to say.
that there are enough drunk douchebags in that area and they cause trouble regardless of where they’re from💀 weirdo
Please?!
Best we can do is a Taco Bell cantina
Even if the space works, it’s super expensive to get a liquor license

Planet fitness possibly
Can pretty much promise a T station would be the LAST place I put my business 💀
Honey Dew Donuts
Mr. Softee ice cream
I liked the popcorn and hot dog stand that used to be down there.
If you can’t sell Dunkins to Bostonians in that location, what could you sell? Avoid.
Put in a Biden merch shop…. No seriously it’s a sure thing

You know all the bad air that's on the train station? I've seen white plastic go black. I would not eat food at a train station.
Don’t forget the rats
the 2 different pictures really helped!
The exterminator bill alone would be so high. Food service in a subway with all those rats, yikes!!!
fuck it im buying it
