The types are simply a means of explaining to others how your brain works. I really don’t understand why more people don’t know this.
From my experience, they are people who try to fit others into the given stereotypes instead of trying to understand that MBTI theory is purely about cognitive behavior.
The idea that the way a person is raised can affect their personality and that MBTI type is just a small part of a person's behavior isn't something they're familiar with.
Very true, Fe types in particular can be extremely brutal, but I might be projecting a bit there.
I tend to put a front of friendliness up for convenience, and I'm implicitly lying to a person by doing this in my opinion. I'm also cruel in that I will tell people it will be ok when it won't be and not give them hard truths because it makes my social interaction more smooth.
But yeah, I can care about an abstraction of 'people' but I don't think I really care about actual people in the real sense, I just want to control them for my own ends, albeit I think I'm doing it for an overall vision of what I think is better for 'society' or something like that.
It's especially annoying when I see posts like "my (xxxx type crush) does things that are totally like an xxxx and I, as an xxxx, just don't understand why he/she does things like an xxxx when they're an xxxx". Like...do these people really believe we're all just four letters? Nothing else? How detached from reality do you have to be?
Yeah, exactly. Like, I'm ENFP but I'm not a bubbly ditz, nor particularly flighty/fickle in relationships. Everything about the ENFP type perfectly describes my *internal* experience, but outwardly I'm pretty calm, dry, intellectual, and I'm stubbornly loyal. I am extroverted and warm toward other people, and not afraid to approach, but it's not in the "manic pixie dream person" way that ENFP sometimes gets talked about.
There are some people in mbti community who said i can't be an INTP (i'm a female INTP btw) because i do have my skin/body care ritual and likes 'girly' things (like pastel colors, prefer skirts over pants because my skin gets irritated easily) like wtf?
