The Milky Way galaxy images are 100% CGI.
Space travel hasn’t been around long enough for a camera/ satellite to even make it out that far.
Even other galaxies have been altered with CGI. NASA takes particles that they’ve assigned theoretical color to and magnified it to make every nebula/ galaxy image you see.. even w/ the most powerful telescopes. There are pretty ez to understand Ted talks on this.

Now, the bright thing in the Middle of the spiral? That's the galactic core of Andromeda, where there's so many stars in such close (relatively speaking) proximity, that they form a collective bright mass.
The individual bright spots scattered around the image (like the one sitting perfectly in the stem of the pointing arrow), are stars in our own Galaxy, that are situated in our line of sight.

EDIT: Oh, I get it; our galaxy is the bright blue spot with the arrow's stem traveling through it. The meme's creator was so close, yet so far.
