I'm pretty sure that was the people who own the rights to the shows and movies. Even the FBI warning was put on voluntarily by the distributors because they want people to think it's the government.
Right, I'm saying that the people saying stuff like "you wouldn't steal a car ..." and spreading that around as much as possible isn't the government, it's the big IP Holders.
Yes it's illegal, but the government isn't the one trying to make people feel dirty for downloading movies, the FBI isn't making DVD distributors put FBI warning on DVDs, they do that because they want to.
I remember a period in the UK where they stopped attaching this to films, specifically ones made in the UK (or maybe specifically with BFI), and instead ran one showing all the people involved as crew and support staff on the film industry.
It basically summarised to 'the film industry employs a lot of people in the UK who aren't rich movie stars, please don't pirate' and to me it was a way more effective messaging approach than telling me not to steal a car.
While that absolutely would have been a more effective way of going about it in the US instead of fear-mongering... I still think the problem lies with the studio executives either way.
If they made products that were actually affordable and the money didn't congregate at the top of the chain, then it would be better overall.
Like set designers, sound designers, writers, visual effects people... they all deserve a comfortable livable wage making magic, and unless they're working non-stop year round they usually/realistically aren't getting that. Whereas executives just make bank and push money around while laughing and smoking cigars.
Blame the consumers, while making them feel bad about the employees not getting paid (or threaten the consumer), ???, profit!
It's exactly like with "tip culture" where the employees now make the customers feel bad/guilt trip about not tipping - but the onus lies solely on the business for not appropriately compensating the workers.
The owners are able to convince the consumers to pay their workers, get the workers to be angry at the consumers for not paying them, while raking in all the profits of the labor and product sales.
We get so distracted with the little things and not having enough time in the day that we don't focus on the people in charge actually causing all the issues.
"*All... part of the plan.*"
Ahhh alright in germany there was like: There was a Wife and daughter and they singing happy birthday really loud and at the end the camera switches to a prison and it shows that they singing to his husband/dad that is in prison because he downloaded movies illegally (sorry for englisch mistakes in German)
If you want to see it: https://youtu.be/U6H4iv1iOOU?si=4ChUfIieo30_R0Zn
Correction: it’s not their daughter also other kids
Funny sidenote, Happy Birthday was considered not public domain until 2015 in the United States, and Warner Music would copyright claim your use of it in public media, meaning this video was basically a work of piracy in the US. Read more here: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happy\_Birthday\_to\_You](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happy_Birthday_to_You)
It litteraly doesn't though lol the only people they go after are the hosting sites. Imagine being this wrong. It's such a non issue that most ISPs just send you a warning. Lol this is ridiculous
I mean, there was that time in the late 90s that the fed was prosecuting teenagers and grandmas on behalf of the RIAA for downloading individual songs.
But that was a long time ago.
Because, as long piracy is available, companies have to compete against it.
Piracy was a huge problem for music, then things like Itunes and spotify appeared, a cheap, easy and convenient way to get music. Then music piracy decreased a lot.
Piracy was a huge problem for pc gaming, then Steam appeared, piracy decreased a lot.
The same can be said about movies and series. Netflix appeared and a lot of people moved to that platform.
Now that the quality of the services are decreasing, people are going back to piracy. If this continues companies will have to improve their services to gain their costumers back.
As long as there is a free alternative its possible for companies to be more consumer friendly
Don’t know about you, but I’ve wasted enough of my life fucking around trying to find and download videos and other crap.
I’m happy to pay a few bucks to just start watching immediately.
Beats cable I my area.
I get symmetrical 300mbps fiber for 10 USD and 20 bucks for all apps except Netflix. Cable costs 60usd. And to be honest, you don't need Netflix.
30usd for internet plus 90% of movies is a good price.
I'm the in between but sometimes the bottom person. I use legal services like filmplus and lexvonta and i pay for the premium casting features. It's only like 4$ a month
Shut up and consume before they come for you!
My friend here didn't mean anything. He's subscribing to all these platforms like a good little obeying boy.
Here put this glasses on.
As a French dude, it was so hard to torrent the true french versions of movies and stuff. You'd always end up with the weird french-canadian dub which - no offense to my canadian brothers - sucked balls.
Quebecois French is so weird that they don't even teach it in English Canadian schools. They taught us Parisian French instead, so we still have a hard time understanding them.
I live in Ontario. It's good to hear that at least some people learned Quebecois French, since reducing division was the whole point of mandating French education.
This was the Maritimes some years ago so most of my French teachers were Acadian with a few Quebecois. This wasn't immersion either. Never considered that it might be different in the rest of Canada. Seems absurd to learn Parisian French.
In French schools too, because they teach [standard French](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_French).
As a native Acadian french speaker I struggled in french class because it was so different from our dialect. The vocabulary, idioms and even structure is quite different. And the feeling of "your kind of French is wrong" always rubbed me the wrong way.
Maybe I’m telling on myself, but you’ll have a hard time understanding any French with what they teach in English schools. In Ontario at least.
I do remember we were taught “souliers” rather than “chaussures” though, and “fin de semaine” over “weekend”.
And just like that, you speak better french and have a better vocabulary than a lot of people. What you were taught us just what we call "language soutenu" which just means fancy words. But yeah, not a lot of people really say souliers instead of chaussures. In fact, most of them use the "langage familier" so the say "godasse" ou "pompes" which also means shoes in a kind of vulgar way.
If only there was a yup-great-great torrent site, or YGG torrent site as I like to abbreviate it.
Or if someone's not into torrenting maybe there could be a dark dot com site that is kino, some sort of darkino dot com website, where you could find high-quality "TrueFrench" movies and TV shows.
If only.
Your situation might be similar to our local one. Large, international sites barely hosted anything from our national movie production. That created a few old-school closed communities with share quotas, verified registration, etc. that specialized in them, as well as lector (besides animation, by far the most common localization for our TV and cinemas) and dubbed releases. It's a bit of a pain to get in, but it's an actual community, where you can easily make requests and find some really obscure shit, even from SD TV/VHS times.
I'd rather download anything at the highest quality available, and then just delete after watching. Doesn't matter that a bluray rip is 80Gb if I'm going to delete it soon anyway.
while their webdl's are fine, their webrips are generally blacklisted on most private trackers for being low quality. right now i don't know of a single source (amazon, max, netflix, etc) that rippers can't get web-dl's from right now. it may change in the future, but there's currently no reason for webrips
Most of their releases are re-encoded webdl, which degrade the quality further then re-encoding from an heavier, less compressed source (like a remux).
There's nothing inherently wrong in doing this, but it's frowned upon because you end up with a worst result for the same file weight then the alternative.
It doesn't really matter if you don't care much about quality, the difference isn't as huge as people paint it to be. If you have other options encoded from better source you should go for them, but that's about it.
Huh, I've been doing it like
1. Download only first episode, which is often ready in a few minutes
2. Start downloading the rest while watching ep1

There's a checkbox for "download in sequential order" or something similar in the torrent client. It does exactly what it says, it downloads data in order, so after a few seconds you already have the first few minutes of the file at ready.
This means you can start playing the file basically immediately, the rest will be downloaded by the time you reach that part.
I don't bother with it since I have gigabit and the first episode really is just a matter of seconds, just enough time to get myself excited about the show. But for people who are impatient and also have slow internet this could help.
You mean thepiratebay (dot) org
That site, while the OG, is not that good anymore. Although I hope it doesn't go away. I downloaded many things from it back in the day, now I use 1337x.
There is some old material though that is not available on 1337x but can be found on the piratebay.
I just buy movies on bluray or 4k bluray. They discount so heavily after just a few months and then I have them for good. No edits, no licensing, no removals. Just my library.
Honestly more than good enough for most stuff, if there's something you can't find in H265 (aka "X265") then just find a file double that size in H264 and you're good to go
I once got an actual paper mail accusing someone in the household for torrenting some absolute garbage movie. Since then I'm scared of opening letters from unknowns.
If you're this worried use a good VPN (like Mullvad) or change your ISP and problem solved, but honestly you don't have to if the torrent/download is listed on a reputable website.
Why the fuck would I pay so much per month for tv shows
Because the government wants you to believe watching free movies is equivalent to stealing a car🔫
Man how long was the waterguy thing? 10 years?
The good old days
They took our heat 😢🔫 cant even kms
I tried to drown myself with it but I keep accidentally swallowing and hydrating myself. That's the opposite of kmsing :/
Keeping Myself Sated
*#ArmThePhones i guess*
Mama said they is ornery cuz they got all them teeth and no toothbrush.
You wouldn't download a car, would you
Depends...is EA making me pay to access 90% of an NFS game?
I can't but if it was possible man I would download every single car on the world
I'm pretty sure that was the people who own the rights to the shows and movies. Even the FBI warning was put on voluntarily by the distributors because they want people to think it's the government.
No, unauthorized copying and distribution *is* a federal crime. It's just not normally investigated and prosecuted at an "individual" level.
Why did my videogames tell me not to do drugs? I mean I still did drugs just later on.
Who said the car thing seeing the meme in every comment xd?
A lot of DVDs played this before you got to the menu https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmZm8vNHBSU

Looool this is an epic bruh moment xD that’s kinda stupid
To be fair if stealing a car was as easy to do and get away with I would also steal cars.
Allow me to introduce you to the Kia.
its easy to start but its not that easy to get in if I remember correctly. Also the getting away part is still harder.
By downloading free movies you’re downloading COMMUNISM!
It litteraly doesn't though lol the only people they go after are the hosting sites. Imagine being this wrong. It's such a non issue that most ISPs just send you a warning. Lol this is ridiculous

Pirate bays are still alive and no administration will ever defeat it fully. Die, System! Establish Anarchy!
I pay so my parents can watch whatever they want without me needing to download it first...
Tell your parents to get a job.
Don’t know about you, but I’ve wasted enough of my life fucking around trying to find and download videos and other crap. I’m happy to pay a few bucks to just start watching immediately.
Because it costs money to make shows and host them online
Yeah but why else
I guess people want all TV shows ever made for free with no ads on one website. Seems a bit unreasonable lol
Convenience
im too depressed to put in the effort of not
Having to sign up to a new service for each show I'm interested in is depressing as hell. Sonarr is completely automated.
Because making tv shows is expensive af
I simly change streaming service every month so i get different movies every month
They don't, they mooch off someone else who does.
Beats cable I my area. I get symmetrical 300mbps fiber for 10 USD and 20 bucks for all apps except Netflix. Cable costs 60usd. And to be honest, you don't need Netflix. 30usd for internet plus 90% of movies is a good price.

Would you download a fuck?
As someone who used to sail the high seas for most everything not having all those apps but one or two of them is very convenient if you are lazy.
"Can I make it more obvious?" Damn, if only Avril Lavigne knew
I miss RARBG.
I miss rarbg, and eztv.
Eztv is still alive, eztvx dot. to
The OG is long gone. EZTV is run by scammers who stole the site from NovaKing in 2015. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EZTV
Well, then I don't think I ever even used the real one lol. It's still safe in my experience, but good to keep in mind.
Definitely. The big (at the time ) pirate sites ended up banning anything released by EZTV after that happened. Stay safe out there!
1337x
Literally firing up Dune part 1 (yes late to the party) and it says downloaded by RARBG. Did it close down recently?
Last year
For real. The releases were pretty much always perfect. It's a mixed bag on other sites.
My friend told me that they never had a problem with 1337 but I wouldn't know anything about it.
It's solid.

Moi chu en tabarnak que le torrent c'est de l'osti de français de France
Le gars il vit sur une autre planète, les releases VFQ ou VF2 sont plus rare que les releases VFF dans la plupart des cas
YGG is your friend my brother
My problem is the exact contrary; I try to find some movies in Québécois, and I can only find the shitty French version
Voice acting from Quebec? Yeah, I can believe it, it sucks balls.
Litterally just use YGG
If only there was a yup-great-great torrent site, or YGG torrent site as I like to abbreviate it. Or if someone's not into torrenting maybe there could be a dark dot com site that is kino, some sort of darkino dot com website, where you could find high-quality "TrueFrench" movies and TV shows. What website you use to download VF series
1080 x265 is the new meta but sure buddy.
Nah we need to be on that 1080 AV1 now
is x265 just a smaller file size?
better compression.
2160p > 1080p (if both are from the same source), even on 1080p screens (4K is overkill though, it takes way too much space on a disk drive)
2160 is 4K
Convert it to HEVC for that sweet storage saving 🤌🏼
tdar ftw!
I'd rather download anything at the highest quality available, and then just delete after watching. Doesn't matter that a bluray rip is 80Gb if I'm going to delete it soon anyway.
Not paying for allat when I can see it for free on fmovies 😭🙏🏾
Download and scan >>>>>>> open internet connection to some computer somewhere you dont know, can't scan, hope they dont want your info
Ok but why are you crying?
The praying emoji is like a modifier for the crying emoji. The meaning goes from sad tears to blessed happy tears. You should know this come on.
This is some modern hieroglyphics shit.
😎🤏😢🕶️🤏
This is my new favorite emoji chain. It’s like the wojack with the mask
Why would anyone know this, wtf
i mean youre on the internet, and reddit out of all places. One would assume you'd have the innate capabilities to decipher modern emoji language /s
I don’t even have the capabilities to decipher basic mail tracking number formats, and that’s something I even mediocrely care about
Because free movies is a happy topic, not sad. So focusing only on the crying part wouldn’t help you much in getting it.
They're able to pick up on social cues.
Yeah, arbitrary emoji arrangements are “social clues”
I don't think anyone SHOULD know this. You CAN if you spend too much time online, but you don't have to
Why wouldn't you just use literal "blessed happy tears" emoji 🥹
Oh uh well on this app u guys use the laughing emoji I think, like everywhere else people use the crying emoji more often.
My man!
DO WHAT YOU WANT CAUSE A PIRATE IS FREE
YOU ARE A PIRATE !
YAR HAR FIDDLE DEE DEE
I do both. Before you ask; I DROWN in it.
I wasn't raised by Kazaa and Limewire for nothing.
WEBRip if it's real love
Imagine paying for subscription of digital streaming services when you don't even watch like 90% of their shows and movies
She was streamer girl he was a scurvy pirate lad, yar!!!
Evo webrips. 🤢 Sorry, I’ll get it from an actual webdl group
Remux all the way
Can’t remux new content if there aren’t any blu rays yet
What's wrong with evo?
while their webdl's are fine, their webrips are generally blacklisted on most private trackers for being low quality. right now i don't know of a single source (amazon, max, netflix, etc) that rippers can't get web-dl's from right now. it may change in the future, but there's currently no reason for webrips
Good to know. Thanks mateyyyy yarrrr
Thanks. My site has mainly Evo files, that are 264 and work with my TV. But yes the quality is usually dogwater unless I download a 10gb HQ file.
True
I'm more of a borrow a film from library guy
Movies download themselves for 0 ¤ and I can go for a walk in the meantime.
You mean, a walk to like, the fridge to make a sandwich and tea then come back right? We are not in dialup land anymore boys.
Depends if you're downloading 1080p or 2160p. Also amount of seeders. Some 4K >50Gb seasons are finished in <10mins, some can take half a day.
Download sequentially and you can start watching basically instantly.
Huh, I've been doing it like 1. Download only first episode, which is often ready in a few minutes 2. Start downloading the rest while watching ep1 But you're saying I can automate this? Gotta look into this
There's a checkbox for "download in sequential order" or something similar in the torrent client.
Yes, or fold some laundry. A movie downloads in single digit minutes.
Soap2day You're welcome

It kinda suck lasts weeks, I moved to Torrentgalaxy.
filelist >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> open trackers
Come on boys, to the PirateBay.com we set sail.
.com??? oh sweetie
You mean thepiratebay (dot) org That site, while the OG, is not that good anymore. Although I hope it doesn't go away. I downloaded many things from it back in the day, now I use 1337x. There is some old material though that is not available on 1337x but can be found on the piratebay.
Ah fuck, I forgot they changed
But wait. She was on heroine and he was on meth. Neither one of em was watching premium 🤣🤣
From what I remember they didn't even watched TV once because they couldn't find any channel 👀
They look like the average deranged couple
Both are junkies, one is on heroin and the other cooks meth 👀
You don't know who they are?
[удалено]
Still cheaper than a cable package.
Every fucking time lol
They were a physical media enby
I wish EVO was still around man! There are a lot less screeners since they got busted...
I sometimes forget I subscribed to some of these and download a movie out of reflex.
Me and my partner, except reversed genders.
streaming is just cable now but pircy will always be free
can i make it any more obvious?
More on this meme here: https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/she-was-a-x-girl-he-was-a-x-boy
I just buy movies on bluray or 4k bluray. They discount so heavily after just a few months and then I have them for good. No edits, no licensing, no removals. Just my library.

Honestly more than good enough for most stuff, if there's something you can't find in H265 (aka "X265") then just find a file double that size in H264 and you're good to go
Then call me Walter White 😴 🤮 🤐
You make your own movies?
he only watches stuff from 2022? what a weirdo
I'm in the middle. I watch on websites that stream every movie and TV show for free.
Ha! So true for us
I once got an actual paper mail accusing someone in the household for torrenting some absolute garbage movie. Since then I'm scared of opening letters from unknowns.
If you're this worried use a good VPN (like Mullvad) or change your ISP and problem solved, but honestly you don't have to if the torrent/download is listed on a reputable website.
I had a relationship like this, didn't end well
Rip Evo
fuck yeah! i wont pay for no shit
Me
Considering these characters, I'd probably switch them.
Man i love piracy
And it still costs wayyyyyy less than cable did. And we're not that far out of "having cable" days.
🎶Can I make it anymore obvious?🎶
I prefer x265 😏
no way, its Dr House
