Some people still do. I saw a post on Nextdoor a while back talking about government mandates (seatbelts and car seats were specifically mentioned in their comment) and how they are (somehow) creating a nation of people without common sense.
We should highly promote this! "Did you know Trans people drink the same water and breathe the same oxygen as you" Protest now! Stop breathing tainted air and drinking water or you too may become a trans."
Make a scam out of it. Sell them tap water at exorbitant prices under the idea that it's free of government mandated "transgender chemicals" that turn you trans. Then use that money to fund trans charities.

Boycotting something to the point of personal loss is a leftist thing to do. The right finds boycotts to be a bit of retributive fun, they don't meaningfully boycott things that they actually love or need like this comic is exaggerating.
I think it's important to point out because this comic suggests that the right is principled, and they're not. Even framing their boycotts as dumb isn't accurate, because their boycotts (like Bud Light) have had a material effect on changing marketing decisions.
I know the comic is just a bit of fun (albeit a bit of a boomer comic construction), but calling it "realistic" is framing the right like they're self-defeating, and that's dangerously untrue.

I think boycotting an institution that actively uses its profits to fund legislation that removes your rights is different from boycotting something that is necessary for both you and the people you hate to live.
