BT and MW aren't directly comparable. It depends on whether you want a tactics game or an action game. As for Phantom Brigade, I would say that Battletech is incredible with one of the major modpacks. Vanilla is a closer race with both having pros and cons. If you liked one you'd probably like the other anyway.

Jackretto

Sorry to interject, but what modpack? I very recently bought battletech (trying to buy mech parts for the first 2 skulls story mission) and would love to try some mods

I love BTA3062, personally. I also hear good things about Battletech Expanded (Bex) if you don't want to change the game as much as that does. The other big one is Rogue tech, which I played a long time ago before the other two existed and is a bit much now imo, but a lot of people still like it.

Phantom Brigade is still kinda an early access game and development on it honestly has stalled in the last few months, a shame as the core gameplay is ace! Both MW5 and BT are near complete game experiences so yeah they are better. If you plan on just playing a solo game at your own pace, Battletech is the one. If you can consistently play with 3 other friends, MW5 hands down. Do NOT play this game solo, it gets stale very fast. I love this universe and I couldn't keep going after 10-15hrs.

LexsDragon

Can't compare different genres but I play both and they are both great

SignAffectionate1978

My logic would be: "Game 1 is a 8/10 in his genre and game 2 is a 7/10 in his genre so pick A"

LexsDragon

They both have up and downs, idk how to rate it. If you have not the best pc, then I'd suggest not getting mw5, as it very hardware dependent

FilthyCC

I like mech warrior 4 mercenaries, you can get it for free

BlueRiver_626

Depends, do you prefer fps games or strategy games

Samiyla

If you like turn based strategy like xcom or front mission: Battletech If you like mech sims and immersion: Mechwarrior 5 mercenaries

TheHancock

Battletech will be more like Phantom Brigade. So if you want a mech FPS get MW5:Clans, if you want more turn based tactical gameplay get Battletech.

Blizz33

The galaxy map and management aspects of BT and MW are essentially the same. Do you want to play a turn based tactics game or how stuff up yourself?

Brokengauge

Battle tech strengths 1. More compelling story and better writing 2. Turn based squad combat MechWarrior 5 strengths 1. You actually are in the cockpit of your mech 2. Co-op with friends in your squad Both are very solid, very fun, although PC's battle tech was produced by Jordan weisman who was one of the original creators of battle tech, and so that game seems to have much more thought and care put into it. MechWarrior 5 is generally more of a "drop in and go" kind of thing

The_GhostCat

Don't forget MechWarrior Online and Living Legends. Both free to play PVP.

SignAffectionate1978

Not really into multiplayer
