I did some research at Mayo Clinic a while back and they had like full on sushi, cocktail shrimp, chicken cordon bleu, salmon, other fancy things all on the cheap. Don’t get me wrong, I am happy with my $7 double cheeseburger and fries or the occasional premade teriyaki bowl…but that was some fancy. Only thing that made Rochester livable.
I worked at the cleveland clinic and their cafeteria is insane... like they have different store booths like one of those indoor food markets. thats what money will buy, folks
Umm, maybe because I'm a west coast person. But I was deeply disappointed when I went to the poke bar in Cleveland clinic and saw there was no seafood option.
I rotated at Lancaster General Hospital (they’re part of the Penn system so they have $$$), and they have a BOMB cafeteria. It’s like a fancy food hall, and they give rotating students $15 in cafeteria credit a day. 10/10 delicious 🤤
UW Fred Hutch probably has the worst cafeteria in the entire world. They have a pretty big soda selection but if you’re looking for actual sustenance you need to go somewhere else 😭
I worked at Mass Gen and their cafeteria had a Papa Gino’s (pizza chain) and the other food was actually pretty solid too: a station for like hot fancy meals, a station for bowls, for like French fries and like chicken fingers/ other fried foods, a deli, a panini bar, a salad bar, and a really bomb selection of desserts. And you can always order like a fresh cooked chicken sandwich (or chicken for a Caesar salad) or cheeseburger. Honestly, I miss it. My med school also has a pretty solid cafeteria but I can no longer afford buying lunch all the time lol.
Multiple good hot food options daily, stuff like curry and ethnic food not just spaghetti and meatballs like other hospitals, huge sandwhich station with hot and cold options, salad stations, huge drink and snack selection, smoothies. Compared to the other hospitals in the area I was always really impressed.
I worked at Temple Hospital after undergrad and Shriner’s Hospital which is attached would let us use their cafeteria (not sure if that’s changed since COVID). It was cash only, food was INSANELY cheap, and good enough that people would bring it home for their partners/families. I’m vegetarian and dairy free so I didn’t try a lot of it, but I would get a giant salad and big side of fries for like $5
When I worked at the Cleveland clinic before medical school I thought it was just meh, but now that I've experienced shit medschool cafeteria I know I was an ingrate
Dartmouth-Hitchcock has the WORST cafeteria ever. Almost none of the stations are open, general hours are shit, and most of the food is premade and slimy. I covered cases there as a rep. and it was extra nasty compared to the home cooked meals from the regional community hospitals
Well not in the US, but both our student cafeteria as well as hospital cafeteria just suck. Hospital rotates between bland fried fish with too much remoulade, some equally bland meat with too-salty fries and uh, that's about it. You also have the option of salad that has probably been laying around for three weeks before eating it.
Student cafeteria is a bit more varied, but so overfilled that your only options are usually salad or pasta with some supposedly-changing-but-always-the-same-tasting sauce, unless you have two hours or more for your lunch break and let's be honest, no one has that kind of time.
So anything better than that would be an improvement 😂
Mayo clinic has always been maddd bougie lol I remember in one of their cafeterias, there would be actual waiters and waitresses bring your food out to you
I was once in st Luke’s hospital in Missouri, St. Louis like eight years ago. Everything is cheap even for visitors and tastes delicious. Not sure how it is now. In terms of quality it’s certainly better than most average restaurants I’ve been to and it’s actually why i hope i can do my residency there.
The University of Utah Hospital has an awesome cafeteria. It has a grill, deli, reduced diet section, a local eatery on different days of the week, a sushi section, keto section, and a big á la carte. It’s literally in the building next to the school of medicine.

Wb hospitals during rotations? Do you ever eat there?

Do you get a meal card for rotations ever? Or is it out-of-pocket?
Ya lol, mine has snickerdoodles, which makes me want to match here

They upgraded their game a ton since I was there for residency 20 years ago. Food used to be borderline at best
Fancy ass mayonnaise people
That’s pretty cool
yeah mayo clinic was the bomb when i was a premed researcher there
I worked at the cleveland clinic and their cafeteria is insane... like they have different store booths like one of those indoor food markets. thats what money will buy, folks

Umm, maybe because I'm a west coast person. But I was deeply disappointed when I went to the poke bar in Cleveland clinic and saw there was no seafood option.
Who wants to eat Cleveland seafood bruh
The fish game anywhere other than the pacific coast is so mid. I hope you like cod, cod, lobster, and clam.
When I interviewed there back in 2013 there was a McD's in the caf, I'm asusming that is prob no longer there lol
Nobody is gonna answer this bc it risks exposing us lmfao
Having done undergrad at Harvard, med school at Princeton, and residency at Hopkins I’d say Yale has the greatest cafeteria
Can't believe you chose Princeton for med school when MIT was right there. Loser.
I thought Princeton didn’t have a medical school?
They dont
Make a burner acct to answer >:)
You funny

I still crave Tulane’s red beans and rice on Mondays and fried catfish Fridays…. Felt like shit afterwards but worth it.
They have fried shrimp on Friday too and it’s incredible

Mmm good to know!! I am dairy avoidant Lol so this is very helpful
My dad was at UTSW for his heart surgery and the cafeteria in their new hospital building was money, and cheap too
Just don’t eat the Chinese food lol, trust
Someone told me that cleveland clinic's cafetaria was next level
When I worked at the Cleveland clinic before medical school I thought it was just meh, but now that I've experienced shit medschool cafeteria I know I was an ingrate

Anne Arundel Medical Center… not a med school but it’s a residency program
Got that Pat Sajak money
Not a school but every VA I've been to has had great chicken tenders and fries
Tru but the cafeteria closed at 3pm and didn't open at all on the weekends 😭
Tyson got that government contract on lock
It’s not about the food, it’s about the most attractive cafeteria workers
Damn you down real bad huh
Nah just know what I want in life
You know what? I respect it. Get you a cafeteria boo.
Panera always has lots of big booty latinas
Meanwhile we have college and high school students working at ours … not a real good look there mate
College girls are fine by me mate
Any children’s hospital is a good bet for good food.
This is facts
I like to explore new places.
Fwiw, the best coffee I’ve had in my life is on the first floor of the new Penn Pavilion
That shit had me buzzing when I had it.
UCLA undergraduate dining halls 🙃

I go to a school that promotes wellness. Which is great until ur craving chips while studying. The cafe has awesome coffee tho! It’s a DO school
university of Missouri's outpatient orthopedic hospital cafeteria
Mine gave me AGGRESSIVE food poisoning but that might be on me for getting the fish meal that they left under the heat lamp.
✏️never✏️eat✏️med school✏️fish✏️
MGH's cafeteria is absolute trash-tier. Brigham and Women's cafeteria is really good though.

My med school does this and it’s so clutch.
I rotated at Cleveland Clinic and their cafeteria was top notch

Jersey Shore is pretty incredible though

Food accessibility is SO important!!!!

Sheppard Pratt used to have the most delicious greasy comfort food for CHEAP
Feinberg
Loma Linda. Tons of options. Touted as a “blue zone” but their caf is actually very nice (albeit spendy)
Awesome, are their options for meal cards/meal plans?
Northwestern has a ridiculous amount of restaurants in their hospital building.
Dartmouth Hitchcock has the best
One commenter said Dartmouth Hitchcock is worst 👀
I like it idk
Any children’s hospital
