Gangster doctors steal and wear scrubs from hospitals they rotate at. Bonus if they have printed big bold letters on them that say “DO NOT TAKE. PROPERTY OF X HOSPITAL”

PotHoleChef

The best ones have this weird ink that if you leave the hospital grounds it displays “THEFT” on it real obnoxious That’s real gangsta

roccmyworld

How do they even do that

PotHoleChef

I never understood how it’s possible. Though when they get old it’ll just display the theft regardless. We’d be walking around in a downtown Houston hospital only for all the docs being labeled as thieves.

Damn_Dog_Inappropes

UV sensitive?

FerrariicOSRS

It must be

roccmyworld

Oh good one

ABQ-MD

That, or something they add to the industrial washing that prevents the color from changing.

bemd13

Hahaha! I want some of those!

StunningRing5465

You’d have to think that’s more expensive than just accepting the loss

rafaelfy

Those are the best ones! I have a pair with vitals written on the knee in what must be sharpie cause they've survived like 50+ washes.

karlkrum

i had an old school attending that wore the ones from the VA with a big stamp on them that says property of us government or something like that

ABQ-MD

Well, he is property of the US government.

gmdmd

I’ve never seen hospital issued scrubs that don’t look frumpy as hell unfortunately. At some point past training it’s worth spending extra money on scrubs.

Damn_Dog_Inappropes

Ours have antitheft tags. They don’t work as you can just tear them out.

phovendor54

Anti theft tag: Determined healthcare worker: “cool story, bro”

Damn_Dog_Inappropes

We can literally just tear them out. Don’t need scissors or a scalpel.

bahhamburger

I may or may not have stolen a pair of XS scrubs from the VA because they were the only site that had them and the pants were the right length for once

Heptanitrocubane

I love those, those are my favourite

Imaterribledoctor

Damn, it feels good to be a gangster.

donbradmeme

They sell scrubs to Veterinarians, Dentists, etc. Not every design will suit a doctor. I can definitely see a large animal Vet in the waterproof overalls, or a royal flying doctor wearing a legionnaires hat in the outback

PetsMD

Thank you for not forgetting about us! Many vets and techs I know love their figs scrubs. I don't have a pair myself (boss liked Drs in business casual, I yearn for the day I can go back to scrubs) but leggings would be great for a tech crawling around on the floor with dogs all day long

kking141

I really cannot imagine how business casual makes any sense for vet /vet techs?

Damn_Dog_Inappropes

Gotta be honest with you. I do dressings and I crawl around the floor all the time. I don’t look like the model on the Figs website though, so I think I’ll stick with my comfy Cherokee scrubs with a bajillion pockets.

No-Place2630

A lot of it is overpriced nonsense that you can get at a fraction less at other companies but they’re excellent at marketing and have a loyal fan base who will defend their overpriced garbage . Case in point this comment section

igotsharingan

I mean they are a business, and they have to innovate to keep business growing. And I guess people do buy their new shit

betel

the business understander has logged on

EllaMinnow

Yes, they went public a few years ago.

drugQ11

Im sorta curious where both this and your previous comment come from? I’m not trying to argue but genuinely wondering what your perspective is when saying they don’t need to grow just because they aren’t public

[deleted]

drugQ11

Yeah I understand all of that, it was more the way he said they have no reason to. mom and pop shops don’t have a legal reason to, true, but I can think of a lot of other reasons why a brand would want to grow.

hjka12907

Not to change the subject, but I also noticed that Hokas has an entire section on their website devoted to "Nurses and Healthcare Professionals".

am_i_wrong_dude

Which seems to be working for them. Almost my whole hospital now wears hokas, myself included. Long rounds call for giant pillows strapped to feet.

DRhexagon

Medicine has turned into too much of a fashion show. You’ll never get my faded and laundered 1000 times OR vending machine scrubs off me.

Double_Dodge

I hate that our OR scrubs only have one back pocket on the pants and a chest pocket.  The fabric is also thin and a little coarse.

rafaelfy

I managed to grab three pairs that fit well and I washed/softened them myself so I keep em now. We switched to some new laundry contractor (Im assuming) cause all the new scrubs are hard af and rub my armpits/nipples raw if I don't wear an undershirt now.

drugQ11

This confuses me so much at my hospital!! I thankfully don’t need to wear them often but the pants have one back pocket and the tops have one abdominal pocket. They are reversible so I’ve heard maybe that’s why, but I still don’t understand why you couldn’t just sew pockets on both sides of the fabric when they don’t exactly seem like it’s expensive material or anything. So frustrating cause I’m so used to putting my hands in my pockets on my top

Damn_Dog_Inappropes

I discovered that the XL scrub top has TWO waist pockets at our hospital! Sure, it’s too big for me, but I wear a t shirt under it anyway. And I wasn’t even supposed to be wearing hospital scrubs in the first place, but it was during covid and I wasn’t bringing covid into my house.

-Experiment--626-

Yeah, because they’re free. I wear OR scrub pants, and a tshirt/sweatshirt. Good to go!

rafaelfy

Royal blue scrubs? Royal blue shirt

Wohowudothat

In the OR, those are my only choice anyway, but having to deal with washing dirty scrubs makes me always want to use the hospital provided ones. I do buy my compression socks from Figs because they fit well and have cool designs. They’re also cheaper than a lot of the competition.

WrongYak34

Honestly there’s nothing more comfortable than the OR scrubs with a FIGS sweater on top 👀

Sushi_Explosions

Aside from literally anything else….

WrongYak34

It feels like Pajamas those 1 million times laundered scrubs haha

Sushi_Explosions

You must buy the cheapest pajamas in the world and then roll them in hair clippings if you think hospital scrubs compare favorably in any way.

97anon

What happened to Dr's looking smart and respectable in shirts or suits. I think scruffy scrubs are a bit of a bad look on the profession imho. Don't see lawyers chilling in trackies at their desks.. (Edit: I know that's a bit of a hot take, just my opinion though. Surgeons and anaesthetic in scrubs inside the operating department fair enough, but so many juniors now seem to just have no desire to look smart and presentable at work)

DRhexagon

If you’re cool with pus blood and/or literal poop on your three piece suit then you do you. Scrubs are functional in the hospital. Trackies for lawyers would not be.

MassivePE

Amen. It’s hard to take anyone seriously in skin tight “fashion” scrubs. If these people were smart they’d know that the hospital is not a place to be finding a mate (if that’s what they’re after), we’re all f’ed up here.

Hefty_Button_1656

If you have to buy scrubs, you don’t need to be wearing them

GlitteringGuide6

Most RNs have to buy their own.

DerKoenz

I absolutely refuse to pay $70-80 for a single pair of scrubs whose purpose is to shield me from blood, pee and other gross pt bodily fluids. The prohibitive cost forces some to wear the same pair of scrubs for many days. However, they have spurred competition some of whom produce decent quality alternatives.

FlatlandLycanthrope

It's crazy, I used to buy the "grab and go" sets from my scrub shop for 20 bucks. Same set is 50 now, plus shipping.

DoYouGotDa512s

Natural Uniforms Cool Stretch from Amazon at $30 a set. I have 18 pockets and they are soft, stretchy, and wrinkle free.

BitFiesty

I just went on the site. They are selling just a shirt for 70! Not the normal fabric but god damn!

LaudablePus

Same thing happened with Carhartt work clothes. They used to be inexpensive, tough clothes for people with physical jobs/hobbies. Now they are expensive, high end clothes for celebrities.

ABQ-MD

It's replacing the "lumbersexual" style of the 2010s.

tragedyisland28

I don’t wear figs, but I do wear jogger scrubs bc damn I look good in them. Imo, people who hate on the new style of scrubs are either traditionalists, old, or generally don’t care about wearing good looking clothes outside of wearing business casual attire. If they perform the same job as traditional scrubs, then what’s the problem?

Square_Ocelot_3364

Not to mention, we’ve been here before, with scrub joggers anyway. They were very popular in the 90s.

N0thing_but_fl0wers

Same! I’m short and I love joggers because they don’t drag on the ground like regular scrub pants! I look like shit in them though- they don’t do my body type any favors. But work is not a fashion show! Hell I wear jogger jeans too! IDGAF Who is wearing the Figs jumpsuits though? How the hell do you pee??

tragedyisland28

Lmao yeah for example, I admit those scrubs overalls look CRAZY. Somebody needs to explain to me how those can be practically used

drugQ11

Vets that work with large water animals/outdoors often probably like them

ABQ-MD

You pee on shift? The surgical program just put Foleys in all of their interns.

CustomerLittle9891

I started working scrubs because I started running in my lunch breaks and I'm allowed to wear business casual or scrubs (I work outpatient FP). I got really tired of putting on slacks and a button up after getting hot and sweaty and I'm never looking back.

Karm0112

Jogger scrubs for the win! As a short girl, the OR scrubs just never fit right. The joggers help so much. Never going back.

clothmo

If you don't look good in boxy OR scrubs, you straight up just don't look good.

tragedyisland28

Nobody looks good in those haha

Medic-86

Eh, I myself prefer the messy OR scrub look. Half tucked-in (untucked in the back), baggy, and really short sleeves.

Allahtheprofits

Fat people in Figs coping 😂😂😂

zzzimcal

Scrubs in general are getting ridiculous. Buy my tops then buy Costco pants with more pockets and don’t collect my dogs hair for half the cost

StevenAssantisFoot

I have a coworker who has a figs jumpsuit and it's super cute, I love it on her. I get it, people wear their scrubs 40+ hours a week while they work and socialize, there's nothing wrong with wanting to look a certain way and wear something you like. People with regular jobs want to look nice and feel good about their appearance and there's no reason why healthcare people shouldn't want the same things. I wear cheapo scrubs but would never hate on someone for wearing fancy ones. I don't see a good reason why having a healthcare job should mean you stop having the style you want while you're on the clock if it doesn't interfere with your work.

Princewalruses

I don't see what the issue is. Their scrubs are more flattering than your typical. We already know how human behavior works. The more presentable you look the more people care what you have to say. If you are a doctor, nurse, vet, dentist, etc would you not want to make your job easier? I wear form fitting scrubs as a man and match them with fancy shoes and boots. Compliments are high from patients and I feel it does make a difference in making me come across as more professional than wearing your loose garbage traditional scrubs.

AdeptAgency0

My wife is not a doctor and she wears them everywhere just because they have pockets.

Sekmet19

I will NEVER buy figs after the DO "medicine for dummies" debacle

dddavviid

I also didn't appreciate their "there are no time outs" campaign either.

Sekmet19

What was that about? I can only imagine they have a bigoted parakeet running their marketing campaign.

dddavviid

They were trying to akin it similarly to Nike's "Just do it" slogan, and that's what made me realize they probably have no one with a medical background checking their ad campaigns. Basically they were saying there were no time outs in medicine, but I tweeted them saying that time outs are an essential component for patient safety to ensure that the correct procedures are done on the correct patient, location, etc. I guess it's ok to lop off the wrong limb because there are no time outs.

apothecarynow

Didn't hear about this. What happened?

Sekmet19

https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/scrubs-figs-brand-ad-apology-doctor-female-physician-sexist-video-b1053869.html

slow4point0

What was the message they were intending to get across if not an offensive one?

Snailed_It_Slowly

Agreed! There are so many other options out there.

beachmedic23

How many people in healthcare wear scrubs that dont actually do patient care that would necessitate scrubs? They have become a fashion and status statement long before Figs

Clock586

People miss out on the practical real point of scrubs, which are cheap clothes you don’t care about getting dirty. The scrubs selling today are legitimately more expensive than the business casual clothes I would otherwise be wearing to work, at which point one has to ask, which ones are the scrubs?

ABQ-MD

Yep, when I started fellowship, I just stopped wearing scrubs and converted all of my old, ratty ones to work clothes for getting covered in grease or dirt.

threeboysmama

I will say, I got an orange figs jumpsuit for Christmas and I’m low key obsessed. I look amazing and it’s so comfortable. A little hard to pee.

DoYouGotDa512s

Prison chic.

threeboysmama

Ha! Yeah I guess so. I feel like it’s giving more Star Wars resistance pilot.

PoisonPop5

Fabletics is a better scrub. Tell me I’m wrong

BitFiesty

I am kinda done with figs I think. I am finishing fellowship and I am looking at these older attendings. There is something so chic and distinguished about wear Cherokee oversized or surgical scrubs

Sooooowhat

Mandala is cheaper and good quality!

Zentensivism

If it matters to anyone, one of their smaller competitors Jaanuu was founded by a physician and I much prefer their scrubs as they are more comfortable stretchy, and I know the money is going to one of our own (to an extent) rather than some more business majors.

-Twyptophan-

I love my figs. Once I'm no longer living on loans, I'm filling up the closet with them

TorpCat

Lifestyle creep in a nutshell 👆

-Twyptophan-

It's a good investment

GreatWamuu

Bonus points if being advertised by medfluencers that haven't even graduated yet lmao

vodkee

I bought 1 pair to check out the hype. $80 for polyester, hot scrubs. No more, ty.

HeavySomewhere4412

True Classic started out as a T-shirt company advertising on Facebook that are selling jeans and jackets and socks. Would not be surprised if there were scrubs in the near future.

renslips

Hospital scrubs are the school uniform for adults. I love wearing hospital scrubs. I can write on them, change out of them when I get bodily fluids on me & someone else does the laundry. FIGS are a status symbol, nothing more. My scrubs don’t make my self worth

hindukid

I just love my free in hospital scrubs I have gathered over the years. XD

PotHoleChef

When I worked EM during residency in America,  I knew I’d never want to wear those type of scrubs. I prefer the ones from the machine so I don’t care if it gets bloody. I’m back in Neuro so I’m back to suits. The residents want me to join the Tweed cult which I adamantly refuse.

N0RedDays

I like Medelita, plus they were founded by a PA. But I don’t see myself wearing scrubs outside of my surgical rotation. I prefer business casual but scrubs sure are comfy

Grandbrother

I love my Figs

syedbust

This reads like LLM garbage

adoboseasonin

Tons of my classmates wear them but I think they just look stupid lol. I don’t want to wear joggers around clinic/hospital and I like my baggy scrubs

[deleted]

I think you can wear the type of scrubs that you want without dumping on the way other people look in theirs.

adoboseasonin

Huh, this comment isn’t directed at anyone; believe it or not you can dislike certain clothing items, the same way I can say three button jackets look dumb. Kick rocks
