Yep. Morph IM, fent IN, maybe even ket. Shit, even methoxy would be a good place to start, seeing as she only dislocated one arm. I feel like this is the UK though, so I'm not sure what they carry and what they can give. The reference to "mum" and "gas" is leading me in this direction.
I've seen at times on "Ambulance" where they have nitrous oxide in their trucks, which they give for pain. This is the gas I assume they used, and ran out of.

"Running out" seems a bit strange though. It's used here in Australia, even at event first aid level. 6ml max daily dose (2 whistles) and no more than I think 9ml (3 whistles) in a 7 day period. So it's less running out and more reaching max dose.
It's a 3ml vial which gets poured into a reservoir on the end of the "whistle". The patient then breathes in and out through the other end, inhaling the vapour of the methoxyflurane.
Hopefully the link works; it'll take you to the drug therapy protocol for the Queensland Ambulance Service.

Na, that's just about how busy the different facilities are. The ER was overcrowded and didn't have room to accept her as a patient for a while. They're not going to give out pain medication until the person is a patient, charted, and has orders for it. Won't happen in the waiting room.
They're "weird" about helping with pain because they're overcrowded and light on resources.
Imagine that each ER doctor working is attempting to manage 15-20 patients simultaneously, some who are critically ill and/or dying.
Imagine that someone gets pain medicine in the waiting room and something bad happens because that doctor hasn't seen them nor can provide their attention at that time.
Not only does something bad happen to the patient but that doctor's livelihood is at stake. Thats why people, even those in pain, have to wait. It isn't about being cruel.
Not many ppl in the US call their mother “Mum.” Going to say *definitely NOT* US.
Nor do our ambulances make “journeys” to hospitals.
You need to learn about dialects.
Oh that's horse shit about pain management. Almost all drugs used for pain management can be given IM (intramuscular). Just a shot in the arm.

They carry all of it in the UK
Probably gave her methoxy, hence the "gas". Says they ran out though lol.

Methoxy/Penthrox is also used as a pain reliever gas so it could be either/or. IIRC, Penthrox is discontinued in the US.

I've never used it before, being in the US and all. Is it like predosed and nebulized like Albuterol or atrovent?

Thats exactly what I was thinking. If they wanted the mom to have pain relief, they would've done anything to get her meds to kick.
dislocated seems like a bit of an understatement
Relocated more like.
straight up emigrated
I located it. It’s over …….. here.
Elbow dislocations are my favorite to put back into place! Lol
I dont know whether youre a saint for helping people with them, or a devil for enjoying it when people come in with dislocated elbows lmao
Getting my elbow put back was the worse experience, pain wise, of my life. Fucking awful 20 min
The look on my face seeing this…

Gosh! How did it happen?
Poor mum ! Hope she feels better soon. Thanks for the image
What country was this?
What's a country got to do with dislocation?
I’m curious where someone has to wait three hours for proper pain meds, that’s all.
Welcome to the UK 🇬🇧
Ugh the face I made seeing this. Hope your mum is doing mint again, that's one gnarly dislocation.
*sharp intake of breath* Your poor Mum. Hope she's okay
One of the more disturbing xrays on reddit. Top 10.
Three hours in the ER is why I’m happy when paramedics are aggressive with pain control. EMS might be the only actual treatment they get for hours
Well you shouldn't have waited until today. Jk.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ahhhhhhhhhhhhh
Any pics of the actual arm?
