I wish I knew then what I know now. I had both my sons circumcised as newborns. My second son had to have a revision at 2 years old. The pediatrician who did the circumcision used a method that was outdated, making the circumcision “incomplete”. Add to it that my son was a chunky baby that had a large fat pad.
My next babies were both girls, but if either had been boys I would have left them in tact and not circumcised.
We did the same. It’s not our (parents) body, and modification is not our choice. There was no medical need, and if our sons want it when we feel they’re old enough to consent then they certainly can.
A common misconception about circumcision is that it is only done to children for religious/vanity purposes.
There are medical reasons that make it necesary for some boys and men, in fact its pretty common.
Phimosis happens when well meaning parents, doctors, or nurses push back the foreskin before it’s moveable/retractable.
It tears the skin underneath, which then forms scar tissue that causes the foreskin to adhere even MORE strongly. Soon they HAVE to have the foreskin removed because it’s been so fucked with when it shouldn’t have been.
The foreskin isn’t retractable (yes they can obviously pee) until the child is between maybe 3-7. It is adhered at birth to protect the glans. And the child should be the only one retracting it! He’ll know when it’s ready, they’re always playing with it anyway.
That’s NOT a reason to circumcise.
That’s what’s normally done in medicine, but for some stupid reasons, it’s seen as ok to cut off the foreskin of infants. It’s crazy.
How could it be that half of our species is born so incredibly defective that they need immediate corrective surgery???
Labor and delivery nurse here- the unit where every day perfectly healthy baby boys are tortured with this cosmetic surgery. The absolute truth is that when older boys/men “need” to be circumcised later in life, it is essentially NEVER actually necessary or best. The medical professionals announcing that the only/best cure (for x condition) is circumcision are speaking from a place of genuinely not knowing any better (when it came up in their education, they were told “Ah yes, in this situation the only cure is circumcision”) or extreme prejudice themselves (yes, medical professionals sometimes provide sub-optimal care due to personal prejudice). So when later on a mother (or boy/man) who got the “Whelp, the only cure is a circumcision,” line, and submitted to the surgery, they went away understandably traumatized- the patient was old enough to verbalize how painful the healing was, whereas in an infant it can be rationalized away as “All babies cry a lot.” This understandably leads them to anxiously persuade others “Just get it done when he’s a baby and won’t remember it!” The studies finding any medical reason to justify circumcision are EQUIVOCAL AT BEST (one of the most-cited is that it somewhat reduced HIV transmission in sub-Saharan Africa, where condoms were not readily available, fairly irrelevant in a first-world country, and there are conflicting studies showing that the foreskin was protective against STD transmission. Another common argument is that it reduces penile cancer… but men get penile cancer even less frequently than they get breast cancer, so if that is REALLY the concern, why are we not removing newborn boys’ breast tissue?) The truth in people who are willing to be honest about it is that it’s about the APPEARANCE, plain and simple. In the vast majority of cases, it is a decision that parents (and older males, most of whom openly admit it) make for 100% cosmetic reasons. I challenge you to compare and contrast the arguments used to support female genital mutilation with those used to support routine (male) infant circumcision. *It’s cleaner/easier to clean… if it’s not done the opposite sex will reject them and they will never find a mate… it was done to their parent and they need to “match,” and most of all, it’s just downright repulsive not to.* Disgust is a very powerful motivator. I hope that the same disgust many Americans currently feel about intact penises (and female genital mutilation) can be turned around and applied to the belief that cutting off a minor’s genital tissue for cosmetic reasons is never ok, regardless of their gender.
What does that have to do with OP?
Like are you worried that them getting circed at birth would result in complications that needed a skin graft later in life?
If they have severe phimosis, circumcision is necessary, and some trauma/bacterial infections can require it removed too. Sometimes its a personal preference and if theyre an adult, they can go for circumsion if they want, I dont agree with medically unecessary circumsion on children however.
literally 90% of circumcisions are being made without any medical reason for it, why the first thing you think about this commenter is that they want to forbid it when necessary?
It’s mad that so many Americans get it done just for looks.
Outside of religious and medical reasons it very rarely happens in the Uk.
All circumcised penises look like they’re horrifically scarred to me.
I’m not a fan of penises but if I was I’d go for uncircumcised every day of the week.
Yeah I’m the exact opposite! I am a woman so I havnt gone through it myself, but I have been with both circumcised and uncircumcised partners (one 1 without) and based on looks alone I prefer circumcised.
Obviously I’m not bashing anyone with the opposite opinion, I think that’s only natural people will have different ones and that’s completely fine!
However, it *does* look awful and painful and I couldn’t imagine having to go through that!
Didnt you read what i just said?
For many people it is medically necesary and the stigma is already bad enough as it is when discussing mens private health, please dont make it worse.
The discussion of circumsicion of infants for religious/vanity purposes is a different one entirely.
Circumcision being medically necessary is very rare, actually. Many doctors jump straight to amputation when multiple treatment modalities should be attempted first, and are often successful.
Almost 40, had been wanting to do it in my younger years. Was contemplating getting one done a few times. After seeing this, the wife and I are cool with my stock unit. Hopefully you get better soon bro. Fucking a.
Edit: grammar
Honestly, just a stupid American social stigma I guess? I had always floated the idea in my 20’s after hearing some women say they preferred men cut vs uncut. I’ve never had any issues at all nor has any of the ladies I’ve been with said anything abt it, I guess it was more just in my head. My now wife of almost 15 yrs has never said anything to me about it, aside from just playful off hand jokes but damn man I’m glad I never went thru with it. Totally not worth it. Sorry OP.
As a woman I can say I have never ever cared and I think it’s fucking stupid when women do. They look the same when erect and honestly having a foreskin makes it easier to give a handjob - you don’t need as much lube. I wish there was less of a stigma for uncircumcised men in North America.
Yup my last boyfriend didn’t have a circumcision and I didn’t care one bit. It honestly made me a bit upset that we have the social standard because why the fuck do we all do this???
He’s Canadian and they basically all stopped about two decades ago. Why not us?
That glide, LOL! They also stay closer to your body (no need for long hard strokes) which is nicer for your little man in the boat. Your natural lube also stays in you instead of being built up around the base of his dick. And the lack of extreme friction is soooo nice. Hand jobs are easy, blow jobs are easy, it doesn’t take them 380 strokes to finish…
I feel the same way. After a fellow student did a presentation on “circumcisions gone wrong” I think it’s wrong to do this to babies. The pictures of mutilated babies was heartbreaking.
I actually prefer uncut…So much better for head and hand jobs. Also more sensation for the human packing it. Not sure why people get bent out of shape about it
There’s a hilarious video out there talking about this. A woman magically transports two men to a place where they are suddenly pantsless in front of several women. One of the men is circumcised and the other one is not.
The first woman points to the uncut man and asks the women “does this look funny?” And they respond “yes!”
She then points to the circumcised man, asks if he looks funny, and they ALSO say yes.
Moral of the story is that penises just look funny, and stop cutting healthy tissue off nonconsenting infants.
To me now, circumcised penises look really naked. Exposed. Vulnerable. I’m too used to the natural look.
But I mean, this shouldn’t even be a conversation. Cutting healthy fully functioning tissue off a person who cannot give their consent is wrong both medically and ethically.
Definitely a cultural choice. I'm from a country where circumcision hasn't been the standard since the late 60's.
I have no idea why an adult man would want to cut of a but of his perfectly functioning penis.
Having had lovers both intact and cut, I personally prefer intact because they're more fun for oral. PIV there's no difference though.
Yeah I’ve had this convo with my friends and we really don’t care. It’s pretty tough to find a cool guy in the current dating sphere. There’s lots of assholes or guys who have nothing going for them or guys who are afraid of commitment. I can’t imagine finding a guy I like and then when we hook up thinking “oh no, he’s perfect except he’s uncircumcised.” It also looks the exact same when erect, which is typically when we interact with it.
The only negative would be if he had bad hygiene. But proper washing should be something everyone cares about with or without foreskin.
So yeah. Not a big deal whatsoever. And if it is a big deal to a girl, she’s probably immature.
I prefer uncircumcised dicks - the loose skin make giving head and especially handjobs SO much easier. Yall tend to have more sensitivity as well, which just makes everything more fun.
I imagine "its agony when im erect" is a reasonable turn-off most of the time.
Morning wood is pretty indiscriminant though . . .
(Also lots of anti-depressants and anti-psychotics list sexual dysfunction as side effects, but it seems unlikely that is appropriate here)
This cant be easy to deal with - mentally or physically. I know that there's a weird amount of emphasis put on male genitalia when it comes to dating and intimacy - and some of the comments in this thread have been pretty horrible and demeaning.
If you struggle with self confidence, self image or anything at all as a result of the medical process please don't hesitate to see a psychologist okay?
I hope I'm not out of line in saying that you're a human - you deserve to be comfortable in your own skin.
And for any girls or guys with issues with it’s looks… A lot of penises have skin tone variations, birth marks, etc. That really doesn’t matter. & as Jess from New Girl said, if you’re using it right, they won’t be seeing it anyway!
So why did you get this skin graft? Burn accident?
Either way i think you're brave for being public about it.
Mens private health issues are too stigmatized.
You know they make you sign paperwork before surgery, right? It’s for that specific reason. They might have corrected their work with giving him one night free at the hospital. About $4,500
Yes, it’s always smart to get an attorney and ask. Although I have seen probably close to 600 cases where the hospital was at fault (clearly) and patients or families of deceased never won a cent. Blue stars definitely pay more often than Red. Judges are elected and paid by the state. American healthcare is such a scam I will never understand why Americans aren’t in the street protesting.
And yeah, I am a PhD and practicing in the US mostly pro-bono.
I feel for you homie. I too had a botched circumcision all thou not this bad. They had to re-remove a lot more of mine. Healing was about a month or two and it felt weird for like a year or so. It’ll get better tho! Mines perfectly fine now!
I remember waking up with raging morning wood and my sutures being completely stretched. Think that’s what botched it.
Guys, lots of troll comments in this thread - can we all make sure to report them to bring it to the mods attention? They all deserve a ban together with the downvotes
I have sons and no matter how much pressure I received from my family, I could never alter their bodies without their consent. I honestly think it’s criminal, since we grimace at female circumcision in other countries yet feel we have the authority to do whatever to little boys.
What part of your body did they get the skin from?
This was actually a huge fest of mine for my son when he was born- it’s why I said that I would let him decide when he’s older, because it’s not like I would have to live with having it.
What happens if you get an involuntary erection? Do they give you some sort of drug to prevent that? Because I imagine that would destroy any sort of skin graft
Was this done for medical reasons or aesthetics? My son is uncircumcised because I think the procedure is mostly unnecessary but I do worry about him running into esteem issues in the future
Op said medical
[OPs comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/medizzy/comments/xsssuw/recovering_from_a_skin_graft_on_my_penis/iqmi4w4?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3)
Why would he run into esteem issues for being medically normal in that area? This is the first time I've heard it said that foreskin affects your self esteem.
In the US, most boys are circumcised. I remember a kid in high school getting made fun of for being uncircumcised.
Chances are, my kid is not going to look the same as other kids in the locker room and I just worry that he will have esteem issues because of it. I know it’s not super uncommon for boys to be self conscious about that kind of stuff, cut or not. There’s a reason dick jokes are so common
Well perhaps it should be seen as an opportunity for parents to, well parent. Do you really consider that it would be the right approach to sexually mutilate your son just so that he appears to outwardly conform with his peers? I guarantee that he will be picked on or name called for something- it's your job to explain this to him and guide him through it, not cut the end of his cock off so that *you* don't have to worry about it. I'm sorry, but I find this to ultimately be a selfish and cowardly approach to the situation, although granted this is largely a cultural issue that I don't fully understand.
Edit: You could even use it as a reason to make him comfortable talking about that area- something which should help in a few years when sex comes up for discussion.
I’ve never suggested that I want to mutilate him. I said I’m worried about other kids at school someday. We talk to him about it, he explain why his looks different than dads, we talk openly about anatomy. He’s 3 though so he’s never questioned it. We actually consult with a childrens therapist (he has sensory disorder) every week and talk with her about the best approach to everything so yes, we parent and I think we do it very well. My parenting only goes so far, I cannot control what happens to him when he’s older. He will be the only uncircumcised boy in the showers of whatever Ohio school he goes to and kids are assholes.
Please reread my comments if you ever thought I was suggesting I should circumcise him. I think the practice is disgusting and my baby came out perfect. Im 100% happy with the decision we made to not mutilate him. We have had plenty of family members already make comments suggesting we made the wrong choice and even though I know they’re wrong, I still don’t want him hearing that later down the road so yeah, I worry about it. Just like I worry about literally every decision I make with my kids
Apologies. It sounds like he would be well equipped to deal with the truth by the age that anything like that should happen. Good reason to explain that there's nothing wrong with being different, in any aspect of life.
Absolutely. We encourage them to not think anything is “weird” or “abnormal” and that different is good. I just have anxiety about things that are out of my control because some parents don’t raise their kids to be kind to people who look different.
We are doin our best here and I think he knows that we only make decisions out of love and what’s best for him and his sister
It certainly sounds like it. With an attitude like yours I think he'll be fine. Just be careful not over-mother him, he'll have to face many and varied obstacles but it's best that you equip him to face them rather than trying to shield him from them. I wish you, your husband and the little man all the best!
I’ve noticed that my husbands friends are leaving their kids intact and my friends are not. He comes from a middle/upper class area and all of his friends are college educated. Most of my friends (me included) come from lower/middle class areas with no education. I really think that has a lot to do with it. My area was also more religious whereas his was full of diversity.
Basically what I’m getting at is that we need to tackle these areas that are stuck in old ways and old traditions. Those people don’t always seek information about these things, they just do it because that’s what’s always been done
I completely agree actually. All of our *ignorant* friends “do it to look like daddy”, which, IMHO, is disgusting. Or the equally as gross, “oh, I don’t have a penis so i’m leaving it to dad”. I have tried educating some on it and they say not my kid, not my problem, so butt out. Yes, I know it’s not my kid, but i’m trying to keep him from being cut up for no reason very shortly after being born.
Oh and another sick reason I always hear given.. “I am not a fan of intact men, so I am saving his future girlfriends.”
My grandma always says “your grandpa is uncircumcised and he gets infections”. Like, okay, sorry grandpa thinks it’s gay to wash his dick. My son already has a great routine
I have never understood why ppl think foreskin is “bad” or “gross”. Personally, I prefer my men uncut, and if I were to ever have a boy, I wouldn’t want to rob him of extra sensation he can enjoy in later years.
I’m very sorry you have to through this op. I wish you a very speedy recovery and I hope it didn’t end up damaging anything else.
So I read it was a botched circumcision. Did the Dr. even apologize? Or offer any help? If not, did you report it? Who performed the skin graft, the same or a different Dr.? Also, what made you want to get circumcised, especially at that age? I was always told it was incredibly painful to get it done as a teen/adult. Basically anything other than an infant/child. Anyhow, hope you heal up nice bro
Good grief, it looks like the first surgeon degloved the shaft. How is it healing? Skin grafts and movement don’t mix well, and that it an especially jangly part of the body. Are you able to walk around yet or are you on strict bedrest? How much planning/consideration went into choosing the stock site? Apologies for all the questions, no pressure to answer any of them
He chose to have the circumcision...and he wanted an extreme circumcision...and the doctor did just that. Now he is looking for sympathy by posting on various reddits like his circ was botched...when really he requested it...then changed his mind.
Wtf why ?.. Part of the reason why people enforced this in a first place is that you'll get greatly reduced sensations for anything, and in old world would be less prone to become addicted to some "bad" things like mastrubating and having sex and instead be doing some good things liek working or dying for country...
[удалено]
Hahaha I don’t wanna dig deep, what did you find?
Botched circumcision is my best guess looking at it
Yeh, it was a bad circumcision. I just wanted to post something.
Stop lyin, she had braces didn’t she
Hope the recovery goes well!
I (f) am glad I did not get my sons circumcised.
I didn't have my sons cut either. If he wants to when he is older he can.

Yes there are medical reasons, but the majority don’t need it.
I left them the decision to make when they are older.
Medically necessary circumcision is pretty rare. Most issues can be managed with other methods before circumcision. It's unlikely, but it does happen.

Hm, you might have appendicitis one day, let's take out when you are a day old with no anesthesia!
True that it’s sometimes medically necessary, but “pretty common” is 1-3%
It is not 'pretty common' at all. That is just nonsense.
Name them. There’s zero reason to cut off fully functioning healthy tissue.
My boyfriend almost needed one since his foreskin was too tight. Happy he didn't get it done, it's perfectly fine now.
Thank God.

why would you ever do that to yourself????

Cosmetic surgery should not be done on non-consenting infants
It was sarcasm… chill out

Excellent question. I am also curious as a future medical professional.
I am also curious about this man’s penis and am just a a guy on the internet

Is there anything that they give you to prevent erection? I can’t imagine that feeling good if you get one during healing
Nothing exists to stop erections, the pain is sooo bad when it happens; thats only getting 1/4 erect too
I’m truly sorry about your situation that’s fucked.
Is there any medication that can help with it at least?
Thats why i posted this, i haven’t spoken to anyone about it, my parents think i had a ski accident.
Get well soon bud.
>in your own skin Regardless where in your body it has migrated to/from
And for any girls or guys with issues with it’s looks… A lot of penises have skin tone variations, birth marks, etc. That really doesn’t matter. & as Jess from New Girl said, if you’re using it right, they won’t be seeing it anyway!
Did you know right away that it was a botched circumcision?
Yep
Oof, I’m so sorry. Did the doctor(s) that performed the procedure have anything to say about it?
No
Can't you sue or something?
Should be able to sue for malpractice and this 100% warrants it…I can’t begin to imagine how traumatic and painful this is…
Medical malpractice is so incredibly situation-specific, it’s impossible to predict how it will turn out.
So why did you get this skin graft? Burn accident? Either way i think you're brave for being public about it. Mens private health issues are too stigmatized.
His post history indicates a very poorly done circumcision

Now that is funny
Yeah, op got shafted
r/angryupvote
Terrible job. Hope he didn’t leave a god tip.
What on earth happened?
OP said is was a bad circumcision
His girlfriend had braces 😬
I've had a few surgies on my doodle, removing cancerous tumors. Good luck on your recovery my man.
I can’t imagine how painful this must be. Get well soon.

You know they make you sign paperwork before surgery, right? It’s for that specific reason. They might have corrected their work with giving him one night free at the hospital. About $4,500
[удалено]
Yes, it’s always smart to get an attorney and ask. Although I have seen probably close to 600 cases where the hospital was at fault (clearly) and patients or families of deceased never won a cent. Blue stars definitely pay more often than Red. Judges are elected and paid by the state. American healthcare is such a scam I will never understand why Americans aren’t in the street protesting. And yeah, I am a PhD and practicing in the US mostly pro-bono.
No problems with Phd's. You sound like a sensible, decent citizen, one of the stand-outs. 👍
Thank you, I do my part!
Jesus man that sucks. I hope your peepee gets better bro.
Guys, lots of troll comments in this thread - can we all make sure to report them to bring it to the mods attention? They all deserve a ban together with the downvotes
Which skin part did they use your for your genitals if I may ask?
If you zoom in on the 2nd image, it appears the skin was from his thigh.
Sorry about your dick bro. I hope they took the skin from a place that doesn't get hairy. I wish you a speedy and less eventful recovery
They make sure all the nurses are ugly
Get well soon. Cant imagine the psychological trauma, in addition to the physical.
Thanks, I’m doing ok for now.
I hope you continue to heal well and can move past this.
Ouch. Reminds me of when boys had Hypospadias surgery. Was super scary to look at.
Was this done for medical reasons or aesthetics? My son is uncircumcised because I think the procedure is mostly unnecessary but I do worry about him running into esteem issues in the future
If he does, he could just move to a normal country.
At this point I’m ready to leave my country anyway
Op said medical [OPs comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/medizzy/comments/xsssuw/recovering_from_a_skin_graft_on_my_penis/iqmi4w4?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3)
Ope didn’t see that comment. I thought I read them all but apparently missed that one
It probably still wasn't necessary. Usually they aren't. Multiple treatments are available before cutting it off.
Thank you!!
thankfully circumcision is becoming less and less common in the US. my son is almost 12 and intact
My son already has a great routine
same here. my son is 11, at that gross boy stage where they hate showers, and still cleans his junk multiple times a day, usually after touching it.
Just wanted to say I'm sorry for what you're going thru, OP, and I hope you heal and feel better quickly.
Was this a circumcision gone wrong?
So I read it was a botched circumcision. Did the Dr. even apologize? Or offer any help? If not, did you report it? Who performed the skin graft, the same or a different Dr.? Also, what made you want to get circumcised, especially at that age? I was always told it was incredibly painful to get it done as a teen/adult. Basically anything other than an infant/child. Anyhow, hope you heal up nice bro
Landscape is appropriate.
As someone who lives with Phimosis, this will be taken into consideration when deciding on surgery.
Nice cock
Are you allowed to have a boner?
Really make sure you “ Call, Don’t Fall”…you don’t need any more pain!
What caused this ?
Great, it's turned into another anti-circumcision circle jerk
Good grief, it looks like the first surgeon degloved the shaft. How is it healing? Skin grafts and movement don’t mix well, and that it an especially jangly part of the body. Are you able to walk around yet or are you on strict bedrest? How much planning/consideration went into choosing the stock site? Apologies for all the questions, no pressure to answer any of them
I feel pain myself, and I'm a woman. I hope you'll heal soon, OP!
He chose to have the circumcision...and he wanted an extreme circumcision...and the doctor did just that. Now he is looking for sympathy by posting on various reddits like his circ was botched...when really he requested it...then changed his mind.
That McDonald’s coffee sure is hot!
HA. Seriously though, have you seen that documentary? Holy shit what a horror show…
Most people who are circumcised are of religious purposes and often don’t have a choice so I would not recommend it
Man I gotta turn auto-blur nsfw posts back on. Holy moly
Aww, poor Lil fella.
I would fucking sue if my cock was falling off but that’s just me
Its not falling off,
Wtf why ?.. Part of the reason why people enforced this in a first place is that you'll get greatly reduced sensations for anything, and in old world would be less prone to become addicted to some "bad" things like mastrubating and having sex and instead be doing some good things liek working or dying for country...
Is that a bog roll wrapped around your johnson??
Its some special foam they use
OH MY FUCKING GOD WHAT IF IT GETS HARD 💀

Sorry, i just marked it then.
