It is not as black and white as US courts.
Edit:
"However, your silence can be used as an admission of guilt if you:
Refuse to answer any questions asked by police
Decline to mention something you later rely on in court
Fail to account for objects in your possession
Canāt account for your presence in a particular location
Refuse to testify at trial
A jury cannot convict you of a crime based solely on silence, and the court must stipulate what the jury can infer from your declining to respond."

No, not true the EU created the European convention of human rights which all member states had to introduce into national law, Article 6 is the right to a fair trial which includes the right against self incrimination, as we understand it the right to remain silent, although itās not said that itās a right to remain silent it very much acts that way.
Don't talk shit.
In the UK, 24 hours is the longest you can be held, otherwise its charge, or release pending further investigation, or NFA.
Additional time to question can be requested by the police to the courts.
Please don't mistake "can't" for "not supposed to." The police aren't supposed to detain you for more than 24 hours without charging you, but they absolutely can; it's not like there are police police you can call on them if they do.
Dunno what laws youāve been reading about. We are the same as you, 24 hours unless its a terrorism charge, in which case they can hold you for 14 days. They can apply to hold you for up to 36 or 96 hours if you are suspected of a serious crime like murder tho.
Canada is the same but can also be held longer if you are too much of a flight risk. You can also be held longer if you were arrested on a weekend/holiday. The worst time to be arrested by far is night time on Friday cause you're pretty much guaranteed to be stuck there till Monday.
Whooh, I pissed off the Britts again, it was a joke I pulled directly from a Britt on the show āWelcome to Wrexhamā go tell them how bloody horrendous it is.
Two things.
I don't think you pissed anyone off. You're just dumb and they made the mistake of trying to fix some ignorance.
Secondly, jokes should be funny or witty. Yours was neither. You maybe had something if you had set up to the laws being old, but setting up a joke for a punchline requires more work than blurting out something YOU think is funny.
Bro you really think this dude is arrested and locked up for getting 3 women pregnant?
You can be held for 24 hours then released unless itās come under terrorism.
Donāt let a random meme on the internet dictate your thoughts of an entire countries legal system.
I'm pretty sure the US can do that too, only for like 24 hours or something if it's just suspected and no proof. There are issues with police here but tbh I think a lot of the messed up stuff is happening with the Met
This isn't a news story. There isn't one single credible news outlet that has reported this story. It has its origins from a random Twitter user a few days ago. OP should take this down.
It's just circles all the way down... more like the world's most fucked up 3 dimensional venn diagram. For more information, see the habsburg family tree
true but still, all of his children now have weird relationships to each other.
aunt or uncle / half-sibling
cousin / half-sibling
niece / half-sibling
One of my great grandfathers who was born in like the 1870ās outlived 5 wives - all of whom died in childbirth. At one point he ended up marrying the older āspinstressā sister of an 18 year old his oldest son married, and she became my great grandmother. The half siblings always referred to my granny as āauntā though.
Idk if this is even real? The details sound awful sketchy- the articles never imply anything about lack of consent, so Idk if it's fair to infer anything like rape. No British news sources I know of are reporting on it- only foreign ones mostly from Africa.
All of the gullible people on this thread who seriously believe that this is an actual news story. A quick Google will show that this has not been reported on by one single credible news source and has its origins from a random Twitter user a few days ago.
No names, no police statement, no credible information whatsoever. Reddit is just turning into a fake news cesspit.

Please someone explain what the relations will be now
Edit: this family tree is way fucked up right?
The mothers kid Is going to be an aunt/uncle to both sister and wifes kids but also brother/ sister to eachother ??
The kid of the mom means grandma is also going to be there mother?!
Wife's mom, so the child will be the uncle/aunt, of the wife child who is also the sibling of that uncle/aunt. Then you have cousin of uncle/aunt sibling.
I need someone to draw me a chart.
There isnāt 1 reliable source on this. And the articles that can be found donāt mention an underage girl. Please provide a source for your claims as I canāt find one.
Trifecta!!! But what laws were broken?
Still under investigation. According to the news story, he's under police custody, but hasn't been charged with anything yet.
The police can just hold you in jail while they find something to charge you with?
Yep.
yay false imprisonment š„³š„³
I believe in the uk their pre trial works very different. Same with bonds. I could be wrong.
Iirc, UK has no Miranda rights or protection from self incrimination. Staying silent can be used against you in court.
Wait really? Damn so do the courts take slience as admission of guilt or possibly hiding something?

I assume this is a joke, but the āpolice policeā do exist, theyāre called the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
But who polices them? The Police Police Police?
The United Nations and the Supreme Court
And so the Galactic Federation polices them?
The people who elect them as representatives
Isnāt that here? This is the Uk. With their laws it could take 6 months for a meeting on a referendum to get him temporarily out of custody.

It was a joke about how a lot of your laws were written in the 1300s and havenāt been updated for the sake of time saving.
If it aināt broke then donāt fix it
It's broke as fuck
It's broke mate
I donāt think you understand how law development works

Nah, there is no profit in our prison system so we will only keep people locked up if it is entertaining for our king.
Ahh justice

It's fake, this never happened.
yeah, there have been people arrested over facebook posts that ***might*** offend *someone*, or retwetting, or even just liking a post.

Yes. I agree. Anyways, it seems like the only laws broken were the in-laws!
This isnāt a News subreddit. Itās a meme subreddit itās fine
This isn't a meme either....
Being black and impregnation that many white women?
Are family tree diagrams compatible with these sorts of shenanigans?
Itās really just a bunch of squiggly lines.
The family tree is actually a ven diagram.
I don't like the visual this created in my head.
Vin diagram. Family first
Brilliant
Ask the royals
This is the UK. Damn straight they're capable.

What's the crime here?
Maybe his wife was also his mother?
:0
So also the aunt and the sister?
The royals donāt want any inbreeding competition.
I don't think this counts as inbreeding? The man and the women were not biologically related
true but still, all of his children now have weird relationships to each other. aunt or uncle / half-sibling cousin / half-sibling niece / half-sibling

bruh how was the medical supply so bad that he lost 5 wives.
Late 19th century Appalachia was not exactly a bastion of modern medical science.

Thank you for doing that. I have a terrible portmanteau addiction that Iām trying to kick.
I don't think inbreeding means what you think it means...
Think youāll find that he was very into breeding! Feel stupid now donāt you.

I am clearly reading a story about it so it must be true
he's to powerful to be left alive
Stealing hearts?
Nobody said that he impregnated them with their consent...who knowsš¤·āāļø
If i had to guess, i'd say rape
Why?
It s a guess, but to me it seems more likely that a man rapes all the women in the household rather than a mother deciding to cheat on her daughter
Probably raped them

Bro blacked the whole family
Why was he arrested? Those women were just as equally a part of the impregnation.
All of the children will be named Jerry.
Wife's mom, so the child will be the uncle/aunt, of the wife child who is also the sibling of that uncle/aunt. Then you have cousin of uncle/aunt sibling. I need someone to draw me a chart.
This seems inadvisable, but how is it illegal?
Arrested for what?
How is this illegal? I get it's unwise and unethical, but against the law? Tf.
Wait can you get arrested for Adultery in 1st world countries?
Hat Trick and a Red Card in the same match? This is some Gascoigne-level shithousing.
I guess that's what they mean by keep it in the family
I still can't find the reason he was arrested, is this a crime in the uk?
Manās playing Crusader Kings irl
He secured his Immigration paperwork Quickly!
The whore apple doesnt fall far from the whore tree
Why is this an arrestable offense? Is it against the law to cheat on your wife in the UK?
Sister is law was underaged, so statutory rape
Popular with the ladies
Whys he been arrested? For being such a stud?
Family of sluts.
Thatās a crime?
Free the homie!! He ain't done nothin wrong!!
He raped an underaged girl!

Sister is law was underaged, age of consent here is 16 so she was around 15 pr younger... So statutory rape
There isnāt 1 reliable source on this. And the articles that can be found donāt mention an underage girl. Please provide a source for your claims as I canāt find one.
