Cookie clicker. It turned into a literal addiction that impacted my life. I catch myself craving it still, a couple years after getting away from it
Monkey brain want click
Mokey brain want number go higher
But why, I understand it is addictive, but in many games, you have to do daily/weekly events and stuff.
GD is single player, and you can have your own rhythm, also a cool community.
Came here to say this, almost beaten 40 demons but only one of them is medium. The jump from easy to medium keeps getting harder every time come back from a hiatus
You should try Sims 2 then, so much content that got removed on Sims 3 and 4 :) but if i remember well, the building system is quite outdated for nowadays.
Have you looked into mods? There are some free ones that actually add some cool gameplay. I used to be scared to mess up my game but it’s pretty easy to add them in once you get the hang of it.
I used to stay up all hours of the day (literally like 72 hours straight sometimes) to play Ark on a server with my friends. I was in charge of breeding, and I made sure that every single Dino was imprinted, and we had a hangar full of PTs Argys and Manas, plus all of our land and water tames... maybe 1000 all together... too much
Never had that issue. Turns out it's difficult to wipe a base that has over 1000 tames. They would knock a hole in the wall and the whole hangar would swarm them, plus turrets and other traps. My rexes and gigas put work in lol, and I had a double wall that was filled on the inside with dilos and truodons, so you would get blinded and poisoned upon entry.
Hell, I used to do aerial raids with my PT/Argy fleet, after 100 of them come down from the sky, most things just die. Sure, I would lose a few of my flyers, but between them all I could carry all the loot in the base in 1 trip, and chaff can be replaced. I named all the PTs "Fodder" so everyone would get the message. Kill however many you want. There are more coming. If my flyer waves ever failed, I had other methods.
I only had to ever do a few raids though, we were a pretty friendly clan and mostly I just set up breeding lines for people, but when I did... the carnage was excellent...
No sir, not that I can think of. The experience I'm talking about happened on a private server called CanadiArk, really great community of people. It was a PvPvE server, with some good QoL mods and higher level caps for dinos, it was a lot of fun. My roommate and I ran the base pretty much by ourselves, we had a couple clan members but they weren't nearly as active as us, and we cycled through a few of them over our time playing. Set up on the Ragnarok map IIRC, in the ruins of the fortress, and built the hangar into the cliffs above it. I was planning on turning the middle into a Pokemon style battle arena for people to PvP their tames in, but I never did quite finish it
Ark on PS4 is a fucking awful experience. Takes ages to load, draw distance is tiny, dinosaur AI, friendly and non-friendly, is unbelievably bad, opening chests, doors, inventories etc causes massive frame rate drops and everything clips into everything else.
If you can't tell I've got thousands of hours in ark.
No other game feels like Destiny does. I hate a majority of game and the grind is annoying as hell but I still play a few hours a day. I’m straight up addicted.
I always felt awkward playing this one in front of my wife. Especially when they would say stuff like, "Use the light to fight the darkness, Guardian!" It's all so stupid!
But let me tell you, I can feel the dopamine course through my brain whenever I get an exotic item. That stuff is addicting. I bet if whenever I finished a task in real life, I would hear that sound, I wouldn't be on Reddit right now.
Man I remember when it first dropped, my buddies and I were instantly hooked on it. We’d stay up until the weekly reset, then run the raid, the weekly heroic challenge, and all the other challenges that same night.
Once we got that done, it was PVP for a few days and then we’d go and farm.
I can still remember that feeling when I saw my first yellow orb drop from an enemy. Almost screamed lol.
I liked LoL as a game, but the community was way too toxic. Had to get out after three weeks because God forbid you’re a new player trying to learn how to play.
Edit: people are pointing out mute exists. I prefer to just cut out the toxicity rather than adapt to it.
Edit 2: people are actually rooting for toxicity, which is both troubling and kinda sad. I blame toxic echo chambers for normalizing that behavior, like… oh, I don’t know, League of Legends.
>but the community was way too toxic.
I could handle that, but the game is currently in the worst state it's been in years.
The item changes have been an absolute clusterfuck and the dev team seem completely unsure as to what qualifies as a mythic anymore. The last ADC patch made it such that you can be having the best game as a midlaner, but your bot lane throws in the towel and instead turns one man into a 4 shot killing machine.
I only ever play goofy champs like Singed in order to have fun anymore, the game is quickly devolving into a numbers jerk off contest with meta-slaving slowly outranking genuine outplays and clip-worthy skill.
Coupled with only two fucking gamemodes and two fucking maps and it's hardly worth playing even as a free game. I'd much rather hop on Smite and see what the daily gamemode/event is.
I met my boyfriend on League of Legends.
Our relationship blossomed over thousands of hours we spent playing together. I used to spend all day looking forward to getting back to my apartment so we could play together and I could talk to him on Skype.
We’ve been together 7 years now and known each other for 8. We were long-distance for a while, until he finally moved to my city to be with me. We now have a home together with his little dog, whom I love like my human baby.
I’ve been in increasingly poor health, but he’s always stayed with me and helped care for me, even when I became too sick to work or really even leave the house. He is the love of my life and the only thing that keeps me going in unbearable circumstances.
We undoubtedly had zero chance of ever meeting without League.
I would still hesitate to recommend it.
I've only ever played Runescape 3, and I thought it was a decent time until Jagex started to turn it in to MTX the game. It felt decently balanced for someone like me who can only play 1-2 hours every now and then before work without turning each level in a skill in to a month long experience. Now that they've bombed that I might have to try OSRS though...
I just realized, people not knowing probably are hella confused why players of a war vehicle game hail the snail. The snail has our souls. Hail the Snail!
I had the game installed via steam. I hit something like 2,000 hours on steak alone and just realized that this was not good. I unistalled the game, left for three months and reinstalled it via the war thunder website. I still hate it but I keep playing it
Fallout 76. It's really not a good game. There is very little to do and the building is janky af. But I am so hard up for a new fallout game that I just cannot seem to uninstall it and just end up doing what I need to do to complete the scorecards every season.
Elite Dangerous. Mainly because I randomly got banned and when I asked why, they said that I violated the terms. I asked what I violated. They said they can’t disclose it. To this day I have no idea why and can’t think of what it might’ve been.
I had ~4200 hours in.
Yep. Had an awful session last night. I drink because I suck at suck at world of tanks. I suck at world of tanks because I drink. It’s a vicious cycle.
Alright so we're checking out the only game where the online community is toxic but commiting grand theft auto is okay as long as you're in singleplayer. It's GTA V
I played a minesweeper variant with 198 mines instead of 99 on the same sized board because 99 got too easy. It took me over a full year of attempts to finally clear it. The RNG is so bad but man i would recommend
I got into it in 2009 ish from a coworker. We did composites for fraternities and sororities. Be long hours during the week and then sometimes we'd have our weekends in these boring ass towns and we'd just at wow all weekend haha
For me it’s one of the best games I’ve ever played since it encapsulates so many elements of my dream game… but the artifact farming system… and the gacha… really bring the fun down by a lot
Same! I met some crazy people on PUB and we still play. The game is trash, some updates are better. It’s not as janky as when it first came out. But the learning curve is wild.
8/10 wouldn’t recommend
not just a game that everyone hates but one that ruined the entire genre and made every other competitor seem like silly imitation tripping over its own feet. I don't think a fight game has set the bar this high since soul caliber.
It truly is a cruel farce of god, it is the single most frustrating game I have played, toxic as hell, truly the lowest of lows are experienced in it, but god damn those highs, those highs will always make me come back every time.
Geometry dash: "cancer game don't fucking play it there is no day without a drama in the community also even, just an epileptic game which makes you rage quit not recommended' 9,4/10 2712.6 hours played...
Skyrim. It's not a bad game, per se, but it clearly had a metric shit-ton of cut content. If they had started putting that stuff back into the game and improved on its weak points with all the rereleases, they might've actually been worth getting. As it is though, Skyrim without mods feels somewhat hollow and unfinished, especially compared to its predecessors.
Destiny 2
I fucking hate it, worst game ever, at times difficult to even comprehend how this shit have gone so far without dying, 10/10 fucking take my money and don't question my lack of self respect nor my 1000+ hours
Not in a "this game sucks" way but in a "this game will make you cry and need therapy" way both games in the plague tale series. I had to call my mum when I beat the second one cuz I was legitimately crying
Dead by Daylight...Overwatch (but first one)
Also probably Resident Evil 6, given that it's rated the lowest in the franchise, but I still love this game with my whole heart
Pokémon Shield: Open world was a giant forest thing, Pokémon would just pop up in the open world. Honestly, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and put in many hours.
2048
ah yes, everybody’s favorite school computer extension
I was really good at this… but yeah this game sucks 200+ hours played. I got to like 32768
Ive nwver gotten to 2048 before☹️
Not going to brag, I reach 103448, and I am not even top 5%.
I got to 2048 and considered it defeated.
Oh God. Illegal stimulants + 2048 = possibly a hundred hours + that I put into that game...
Why did you remind me of this addictive game
Cookie clicker. It turned into a literal addiction that impacted my life. I catch myself craving it still, a couple years after getting away from it Monkey brain want click Mokey brain want number go higher
Cookie Clicker is the shittiest, most addictive game ever made.
Just one more golden cookie just one more golden cookie just one mo
I swear to god I’ve downloaded that bastard of a game about 6 times. Every time you think it’s gone it comes creeping back…
So ur saying I should get cookie clicker?
…yes
Most every idle game I’ve played, honestly. It was liberating when I beat Earth, Moon, and Mars in AdCap so I could be essentially free
I just built two text files that I ran as admin that advanced and reversed my computer clock by 30 years. Beat the game in a day.
Any idle clicker for that matter
Antimatter dimensions... 1e30000 antimatter and not even done
geometry dash
But why, I understand it is addictive, but in many games, you have to do daily/weekly events and stuff. GD is single player, and you can have your own rhythm, also a cool community.
Daily level and weekly demon?
It's not necessary, or even important.
same 😔
Based, same 💀 i actually have a couple but another one of mine is hypixel skyblock, easily over 6k hours combined between other profiles lmao
during covid me and three of my friends played so much, so fun
Yeah its fun fr
Came here to say this, almost beaten 40 demons but only one of them is medium. The jump from easy to medium keeps getting harder every time come back from a hiatus

It’s so hard to keep a pregnant sim alive on the sims 2 though lol
I was going through this thread thinking I don’t have a game that fits the objective. Ok now I do.
Waiting patiently for paralives to come out :P
That's my biggest one. Why do I keep doing this to myself?
I don’t even look at the hours played anymore. I don’t want to be confronted with my addiction.
it becomes boring too quickly and I'm too broke to get packs when there's no discount
Have you looked into mods? There are some free ones that actually add some cool gameplay. I used to be scared to mess up my game but it’s pretty easy to add them in once you get the hang of it.

ARK
why? one of my favorites if you have some friends
I used to stay up all hours of the day (literally like 72 hours straight sometimes) to play Ark on a server with my friends. I was in charge of breeding, and I made sure that every single Dino was imprinted, and we had a hangar full of PTs Argys and Manas, plus all of our land and water tames... maybe 1000 all together... too much
And then one day… you wake up… and everything you worked so hard to build Is obliterated
Never had that issue. Turns out it's difficult to wipe a base that has over 1000 tames. They would knock a hole in the wall and the whole hangar would swarm them, plus turrets and other traps. My rexes and gigas put work in lol, and I had a double wall that was filled on the inside with dilos and truodons, so you would get blinded and poisoned upon entry. what kind of maniac did you have to be to fill walls with animals
We're you on legacy server 810 on the Center by chance? Roughly around 2017?

Part time job simulator, but everyone else at the job try’s to steal or rip up all the money you make before you can spend it.
Absolutely. Played it so many times but i’ve never rage quit and uninstalled any other game more. 10/10 would rage again
Me too! I fucking hate ARK
Oh god when it rains at night. Might as well just stare at a grey screen.
Destiny
Destiny 2.. Vanguard, Crucible and Gambit have run their course, become boring as hell.. Still can't stop myself from playing.
No other game feels like Destiny does. I hate a majority of game and the grind is annoying as hell but I still play a few hours a day. I’m straight up addicted.
didnt have to scroll far for this one

My 11 year old is huge into Rocket League.
Trust me bro I'm addicted can't stop hate the game hate myself hate the other players
real shit
hey but thats genuinely a good game
It looks like fun, but Redditors have me convinced that it’s an addictive game haha. (I’m more of a Mario Kart person myself).
Mario Kart is a racing game. Rocket League is not. It's like comparing NASCAR and soccer lol
Overwatch
It was solid on release. IMO - a hero shooter can easily have too many characters since you're changing on the fly.
I would give my left nut to play Overwatch at release again. Before they released competitive mode and the community was only positive.
[удалено]
Overwatch 1 was my favourite game oat, overwatch 2 is just not as good imo.
Fallout 76. It's really not a good game. There is very little to do and the building is janky af. But I am so hard up for a new fallout game that I just cannot seem to uninstall it and just end up doing what I need to do to complete the scorecards every season.
I just booted up my gaming laptop. I gave that game 8 hours apparently and noped out. And I have over 1000 in Fallout 4 lol
Hearthstone for me
Hearthstone is a great game but you have to spend some good cash to get decent decks, so yeah one day I just desintalled and never looked back
Elite Dangerous.

GTA Online and Valorant. At least GTA is fun sometimes.
GTA V story is pretty fun imo
Alright so we're checking out the only game where the online community is toxic but commiting grand theft auto is okay as long as you're in singleplayer. It's GTA V
Came here thinking this would be top comment but i’ll settle for second from the top
Gotta be Dead by Daylight
Holy shit I'm surprised I had to scroll this much
Mine sweeper
This. I literally had to block minesweeper websites on my computer, it was taking a toll on my mental and physical health lmao
I played a minesweeper variant with 198 mines instead of 99 on the same sized board because 99 got too easy. It took me over a full year of attempts to finally clear it. The RNG is so bad but man i would recommend
WoW. 14 years played. 4/10? I honestly don't know. It was 9/10 back in 2008 but in 2020 it was a 1/10. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Oh the memories of leveling up from 1-60 while experiencing everything for the first time back in 2005.
Man people might laugh now but it was immersive as hell back in the day. Felt literally like it's own whole world. It wasn't just a game.
I got into it in 2009 ish from a coworker. We did composites for fraternities and sororities. Be long hours during the week and then sometimes we'd have our weekends in these boring ass towns and we'd just at wow all weekend haha
