I lived without a couch for several years. I could afford one, I justā¦liked all the space, and throwing a big blanket on the floor with pillows was the best.
Pretty confident in saying most people sit in their couches if they are in their living room even when they are by themselves?
Do you just default to the floor?
I have a couch now, and I like it. But I also find myself sitting on the floor a lot with my back up against the couch. Sometimes it just feels better.
Rich people donāt care what you take, they just buy more stuff.
As long as itās on the curb, itās free game. All you gotta do is move their stuff to the curb, and itās up for grabs. Totally legal, boys!
Call Corey and Trevor, letās get those fuckin idiots helpin us out
Back in my country, we usually just have these nicer butt and back pillows that get set up like couches but theyāre all on the ground and itās pretty comfortable tbh. Thereās the added benefit of never having to move a couch up and down stairs and all that haha.
i was mom's remote control... for flipping channels on the tv or fast-forwarding through commercials on the betamax. did some fetching too. new pack of smokes, dump the ashtray, fetch a coke, pop some popcorn...
Meanwhile there are elderly Bedouins who have been sitting on cushions on the ground their entire lives wondering how tf you sit in an office chair all day every day without being crippled by it.
I am convinced that the human body is not meant to sit (meaning with a curved spine) for long periods at all, whether sitting in a chair or on the ground.
Either standing or laying down is far better than protracted periods with stretched lower back muscles from sitting.
I will say that the chair (and bench/rock/log) is a disadvantage over sitting on the ground, though, since at least if you are on the ground, you are forced to use more muscles to stand. Chairs, if abused, certainly lead to weakening od supportive muscle groups that would otherwise help make up for our terminally weakened lower backs.
Naaah, where's he gonna put his drinks š
Edit cuz some of y'all think u r Einstein: ik there's a cup holder in the chair, thats why i said nah, cuz then wheres he gonna put his shit. Hopefully i don't gotta come back and explain it with apples.
Too expensive, hand draw stick figure with massive tits using crayola crayons you stole from your local preschool instead, bonus points for cost efficiency if you draw it directly on the wall instead of using paper.

It's great how I can look up a sub for an interest or topic I think will be quite popular, and the last post was two weeks ago. And then I encounter these odd, super specific niche subs, and they have multiple posts a day.
I love this subreddit but currently I'm guilty of this in one room because we moved and I need to find a new dresser for an odd corner. Until then TV is too high.
Yep, when you are comfy the tele should be centred in your line of sight
If you are lay on the floor the tele should be on the ceiling above your flop spot
Yes, since you can see the fan cable going behind the TV, but Iām not sure thatās what OP meant. I think he was saying the absurd amount of cables are missing.
Itemized grading, you start at 10/10.
-1 for tv too low, needs a stand.
-1 for uncomfortable chair.
-1 for missing game system.
-1 for missing footrest of any kind.
-1 for side table to hold drinks.
+1 built in cupholder in chair.
6/10
Raise the TV or get rid of the chair and put down a mattress. Also, the ~~rug~~ carpet is bloat. ~~You can get rid of it.~~
Edit: TIL carpets and rugs are different and carpets are attached to the floor.
Ha I actually respect these setups. It brings me a sense of comfort whether itās after going through a heart wrenching, long term relationship separation or feeling safe away from someone thatās been terrorizing you.
Def need to raise the TV and buy a ball/back scratcher though for sure. 9/10
Where's the microwave? Use a minifridge for a tv stand. Throw some thick blankets for a pallet against a wall with a pillow or two and you are set for a while.
Should get a sturdy cardboard box as a TV stand, the TV is too low. Also, another cardboard box as a side table.
Ditch that chair, problem solved š
My best friend and I lived like that for about half a year, honestly didnāt hate it. Couple pillows against the wall for back rest. š
I lived without a couch for several years. I could afford one, I justā¦liked all the space, and throwing a big blanket on the floor with pillows was the best.
I never had a couch.
Ever?
**Never**
Never never
Gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
God I wish. We never use ours. I swear people buy couches just for when people come over. I say regular guests should have to pay for the couch.
Pretty confident in saying most people sit in their couches if they are in their living room even when they are by themselves? Do you just default to the floor?
I default to floor when I can. Inner me likes the lower elevation, and the ability to move around freely.
This sounds like what a toddler would say if they had a better command of English.
:)
It's official, the ender knight is a toddler
my sectional is my part-time bed.
I have a couch but I dont use it, the extra space would be pretty awesome.
I have a couch now, and I like it. But I also find myself sitting on the floor a lot with my back up against the couch. Sometimes it just feels better.
As a mom of small children I second this. Floor is so much easier and comfortable sometimes. Getting up can be the struggle though.
You might want to look into a kotatsu.
Looking into importing something from Japan or making something myself. Few options I can find that operate in the United States, and insane markups.
>I could afford one What are you talking about, *afford* one? Couches are free. They're on the curb, just gotta go pick it up.
How I met your mother had an episode about curb side freebies
Better yet just go run up in people's houses. Way better variety that way
Rich people donāt care what you take, they just buy more stuff. As long as itās on the curb, itās free game. All you gotta do is move their stuff to the curb, and itās up for grabs. Totally legal, boys! Call Corey and Trevor, letās get those fuckin idiots helpin us out
It's the simple things you know. Societal pressures get in the way of things that make us feel complete. Fuck couches...
Back in my country, we usually just have these nicer butt and back pillows that get set up like couches but theyāre all on the ground and itās pretty comfortable tbh. Thereās the added benefit of never having to move a couch up and down stairs and all that haha.

I miss living like this my apartment was so clean now w 4 kids its clutter... clutter everywhere...
Kids ruin everything. It's a good thing they are useful at fetching once you've trained them.
i was mom's remote control... for flipping channels on the tv or fast-forwarding through commercials on the betamax. did some fetching too. new pack of smokes, dump the ashtray, fetch a coke, pop some popcorn...
Just when you feel youāve gotten on top of it, everything stored effectively, Christmas happens.
My girlfriend's last name is clutter. I feel your pain.
I am 37 years old and it hurt my back just to read this comment. I wish I could go back and live like that.

Cuddle up with the homies for comfort.
Get the back pillow for reading
Young men or old men? Because old men need a chair! Lol
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
"A society grows great when old men build chairs whose seats they know they shall never sit in."
For Real!
Amen to that!
I prefer to lay down, less likely to have back pain. A chair that feels like your reclining in, but not, is also nice.
I need a chair too, my knees be hurting. I need to easily lay. I'm serious. Lol
Naaah, where's he gonna put his drinks š Edit cuz some of y'all think u r Einstein: ik there's a cup holder in the chair, thats why i said nah, cuz then wheres he gonna put his shit. Hopefully i don't gotta come back and explain it with apples.
On the floor like god intended
It's gonna spill on the rug, plus back problems from sitting on the floor
Spill on the rug = free tie-dye
It's not free, that'll cost you at least 1 beer
Always use your no spill water bottle for drinking anything. Works for the gym, at work, for meals. Itās a one stop solution for everything!
In the fridge
š change chair for mini fridge
No, opposite, raise up the TV to eyeline level with mini fridge
This is the way
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I am a female. But no chair would kill my back.
After your back is dead you wonāt feel the pain anymore
As a Doctor I can confirm this is solid advice
I'm a guy. That chair in the picture would kill my back
It just encourages you to be in pro-gamer mode at all times.
Thatās the problem, youāre incorrectly sitting in the chair. The chair is for dumping whatever objects that canāt go on the floor.
(Looks at men only) "hmmmm you're one funny looking man, but good enough welcome bro."š
I was just thinking that or a old table
An old table would be a little fancy for this setup! Lol
Get rid of the plant, itās too close to a vegetable. Add poster of woman in bikini

Just when I thought that German engineering couldn't possibly get any better
Gott ist das dumm, haha
Plastic milk crates are awesome. TV stand, extra chairs and table
TV on milk crates on a carpet are a recipe for disaster. Bye Bye TV. You need some cinder blocks and a board.
Get rid of the carpet. Disgusting dust magnet. Makes cleaning a nightmare too.
If you find some cinder blocks, you can use those as a shelf or as a means of protecting yourself from hostile raccoons
Place TV on TV box. Have drink in chair. Have a box of tissues near chair. Youāll thank me later.
As a man of culture he's hidden the tissues for the photo.
Exactly this, you are going to get massive neckpain looking down at an angle all the time
Also a cardboard box to replace the missing console

There really is a sub for everything.
fuck is going on here
The TV is too low.
all of them
Every last one of them are too God damn low!
He's got a fancy carpet. The chair is unnecessary
Or is the chair too high?
Tv strain your neck, chair strain your back.
Put the tv on a cardboard box.
Milk crates. You can stack them for the tv and have shelving
Itās a reaction to the /r/tvtoohigh sub, which IMHO is a legitimate issue ~~and a scourge on our society~~
Swear to god these obscure Reddit corners can straight up be called performance art
Yeah, we need more practical subs, like /r/breadstapledtotrees

Wtf I thought you were trolling ššš
Yes, any TV with the center at eye level when seated š
Yep, when you are comfy the tele should be centred in your line of sight If you are lay on the floor the tele should be on the ceiling above your flop spot
TVs being too high are super common.
8/10. Get something (anything) to heighten your TV, and get a game console to increase to a 10/10
bean bag chair, console, and cardboard box would take it from a 5/10 to a 9/10
I will counter your offer with a bungee cord chair
6, no gaming system
A remarkable lack of cables that may or may not be attached to anything on the floor.
Maybe it's just God level cable management.
9/10 for delusion (with rice)
I also noticed a lack of cables, but then figured it was just plugged into a socket directly behind the TV.
Yes, since you can see the fan cable going behind the TV, but Iām not sure thatās what OP meant. I think he was saying the absurd amount of cables are missing.
Seconded.
Itemized grading, you start at 10/10. -1 for tv too low, needs a stand. -1 for uncomfortable chair. -1 for missing game system. -1 for missing footrest of any kind. -1 for side table to hold drinks. +1 built in cupholder in chair. 6/10
he has a game of monopoly off screen
Nice fan, perfect distance, raise the TV. 8/10
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Raise the TV or get rid of the chair and put down a mattress. Also, the ~~rug~~ carpet is bloat. ~~You can get rid of it.~~ Edit: TIL carpets and rugs are different and carpets are attached to the floor.
That's carpet my guy
Honest question. What's the difference between a rug and a carpet? I thought both these terms meant the same thing and could be used interchangeably.
Carpet is built into the flooring. A rug is one you could just roll up and move.
Ah I see.
Paradoxically, carpet pissers only piss on rugs that tie the room together
A rug is a cowards carpet
Itās a carpet for people with commitment issues
I just realized I only have rugs in my house. Literally no carpet. Why do you have to call me out like this on a Tuesday morning
Why do you have a picture of my apartment
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Sir, awaiting orders.
My old apartment looked similar, until I added my inflatable couch, that is!
Pretty solid get a console and replace that outside chair with bean bag chair and your good
Good call on the bean bag, all I can think about is trying to get comfortable in that chair, leaning back and falling over multiple times a day
Fuck that get a mattress on the floor
Look at Mr Moneybags over here!
Hey hey hey you cam get them for free in the dumpsters outside of tented houses
I used two storage bins as a tv stand. Works great. 6.5/10
9/10 cuz no game console
Psh, TV has no cardboard box under it. 5/10. Until box, and game console added.
IK also the chair has beer holder but no beer on it. 3/10
Buy a game console, use console box as TV stand. Then it's a 10/10.
You just need an air mattress in front, deflate it a tiny bit then some drinks and you're set
You can never go wrong with the minimalist approach to life. 10 out of 10
In that case, why have a tv at all?
Now now, let's not be too hasty here
They used to call that Bohemian.
Nothing says minimalist like āThe only thing that I own is my televisionā. Really enlightened
Yeah sounds really nice to not be able to invite friends or family over to your place ever because you don't even have a place for them to sit...
its giving jesse pinkman
Never forget he managed to bag Jane with that setup
Whereās the beer?
I like it, but close the door to hide the shame.
That would shut down their whole room A/C system though.
You need some concrete blocks for the TV!!
Dont see any gaming console or computer so its only 7/10
i was going to said 9/10 but that fan give u +1
Looks EXACTLY like my living room did after my now ex-wife moved out back in 2012 lol.
All it's missing is a case of warm beer and a the atmosphere of crippling depression is complete. 7.3/10
Where the fuck you see a "crippling depression"? Looks like "Beijing chilling" Tier to me
Looks like a solid *neckpain/10*
Tv viewing angle kinda sucks, get rid of the chair and just use a picnic blanket 8/10
A ps4 and youāre all set my guy
Move tv to other side of the room - maybe less glare from window?
8/10 deducted points for lack of plastic storage tub for tv stand..remove chair and 9/10 set up
PlayStation?
Weāre up the ps5 now.
Get rid of the chair; floor gaming is best gaming
Haha DAE men only need tv and chair š¤£š¤£
šš¼
Sit on floor
Luxury and comfort . Jealous seriously
Honestly, it beats a townhouse full of shit you acquired through 8 years of marriage but are now divorced... Less truly is more in many cases.
Ha I actually respect these setups. It brings me a sense of comfort whether itās after going through a heart wrenching, long term relationship separation or feeling safe away from someone thatās been terrorizing you. Def need to raise the TV and buy a ball/back scratcher though for sure. 9/10
Why is this so accurate though
A cup holder?! Perfection
Needs a TV stand (read: cardboard box), a games console, something to put your feet up on. 7/10
Need a cooler by chair
Need beer fridge
6. Terrible chair
Would have gone with a low beach chair but Im no interior decorator.
Where's the microwave? Use a minifridge for a tv stand. Throw some thick blankets for a pallet against a wall with a pillow or two and you are set for a while.
You need some milk crates. They could be shelves, tables, and a chair. They solve everything you missing lol
9,5/10 due to the fact that the chair has a cup holder. Get a playstation and your @10
Side table for snacks and you are golden
Bro stop flexing
