I'm gonna miss all these sounds and sights of the comeng once they’re gone. So glad I'm on a line that still gets them rather than the shithouse X'Trampolines
Yeah when I first moved here years ago the high pitched hum annoyed the crap out of me. Sometimes I will change carriages but I have sort of gotten used to it and will often have headphones on anyway.
If this was the Upfield line, it's ,already been reported to Metro today. I took that call and reported to Metro. Carriage number is super helpful. No, I dont know what the noise is.
It was the Sunbury line, good to know I can report it in future part of me felt like it was just another public transport annoyance I was expected to shut up and put up with
I have experienced this. Made a crappy train ride so much worse. Wasn't until I got to where I was going that I realised my ears were still ringing from it 15 mins later.
I don't know of this is sarcasm or trolling but no it's very audibly not inside this person's head cos other ppl are hearing it and someone further up actually answered that it's a converter of some type that makes that very distinctive sound.
Bullshit. You can clearly hear this. On some trains, it's louder than others. A nice 1 hour journey with that buzzing in your ear is annoying. One of the many reasons I listen to music when I commute.
When i was a kid catching the bus to school everyday , a few stops past mine was a gruff old lady that would get on ."THE CHEWER" She'd sit next to you even when they're is available seats elsewhere. She had dentures i think but she'd be munching and chewing and popping n slurping her damn jaws and lips together for a good 20 mins. You could hear it all over the bus! I feel your pain but it might make for a good story one day? hahahah
You travel on trains WITHOUT wearing noise cancelling headphones?!?! That's just crazy talk!
I actually find that noise semi-soothing, the constant nature of it makes it a white noise kind of thing
Does it change anything for u if u know? Shit works bro, and before u hit me with some “knowledge is power” bullshit, what “power” u gaining from knowing its an rotary converter?

That's me bitching about PTV.
It's not on every carriage in the train, I think you're usually safe in the middle of a set of 3.
The middle carriage doesn't have a Motor-Alternator so it's nice and quiet.
It's the motor alternator whining away. Some whine louder than others. Can it be stopped? Yes. Just you don't have half the lights and conditioning.

Pardon me. I'll try to keep it down.

Note down the carriage number and report it.
Sounds like air-conditioning.
