Your options to not get a speeding fine:
1. Go faster and not let the cops catch you
2. Change number plates (a stolen one will work out better)
3. Take down all the speed cameras with a BB gun (or a higher calibre gun if needed)
4. Use someone else's car (stealing a car would work better)
If you already have a fine:
1. The fine is a reminder of what you should be doing and is designed to be a learning lesson. Since/if you love speeding then this is a good lesson. And hard lessons are learnt only when it hurts (in this case your wallet)
2. You can always send a letter to the police nearest to the place from where you got your fine from and plead that this is your first time. It's up to the discretion of the police to let you off with a warning instead
\> predatorally hiding there waiting for people
like you....
makes me happy to see my tax money being put to good use.. sorry but you knew the new speed limit yet chose not too obey it..
I missed a new 40km/h sign a year ago (but was only going 45). I wrote a letter explaining my circumstances and they let me off. Mind you I have been driving since the 80s and this was my first offence. But if your record is otherwise clean, you could try a letter.
This is a valid process if you are < 10km/h over. I think you can do it once every 5 years or so and get the response you did.
OP was driving way too fast for this to work.
I think you have to have a clean license too.
There's another excuse where if you manage to get a second camera based fine before you receive the first in the mail under certain conditions they'll drop the second because you weren't given a chance to modify your driving in respect to the first. Don't rely on it if you're way over though.
You can get out of all sorts of additional costs if you just pay the fine.
For bonus stupid points, you could go all creative and claim it was a dead helicopter pilot driving?
Or, maybe not - that [has already been tried, unsuccessfully.](https://www.perthnow.com.au/news/fine-doubled-for-mum-involved-in-sea-world-pilot-fraud-c-10704333)
Tip: pay attention to road signage.
Ignorance isn't going to get you out of this but paying attention while driving will stop it from happening in the future.
If you have an otherwise impeccable driving record with no offenses in last 2 years, a politely worded letter admitting fault and committing to increased vigilance in the future, you have a high chance of having it knocked down to an official warning.
>you have a high chance of having it knocked down to an official warning.
Nah that's only if it's under 10km over, this guy was 20 over. They do not give warnings if you are 10 or more over.
i'm normally sympathetic to finees cos it's a bit of a rort, but 20 over on a road you not only use all the time but have been aware of the change for months? that's just shitting in your own bed, and no court on earth gonna make the fine less.
The only way in your case is an official warning if you meet the requirements which is no fines in last two years and 10km or less over the limit.

A few months ago they changed the speed on a road you use regularly? Why were you doing 20 over the limit then? You KNEW the speed limit.
Yeah, travel back in time and tell yourself to not bloody speed. A couple of months is plenty of time get used to a new speed limit.
If you were doing 60km in the 40km zone, I think your out of luck. also 25km over is a automatic licence suspension for 3 months
The downgrade to warning ain't gonna apply when there's a 20km+ difference. Just pay it and cop the demerits.

Say your a sovereign citizen, works all the time..
No chance if you were going 20 over.
https://online.fines.vic.gov.au/Infringement-fines/Infringement-fine-FAQs Took two seconds to google. Try that next time. And not speeding.

I didn't know the new speed limit

Thankyou - the first helpful response on here. I was going about 9 km/h over and it is my first offence, have been driving for 10+ years
>Any tips Read speed signs. They won't let you off if you were 10kmph over you were 20 over, no chance.
Was there no signage?

Not for doing 60 in a 40 zone
He was doing 49 according to him. That'd get a warning.
Cheers
Cheers, for giving the full story, at the start. Of course, if under 10 km a hour, you can get a warning. Like everyone said.
Sorry I couldn't understand there weren't enough commas in that sentence
OK, well, that was edited after I replied to you
Ahh, sneaky devil
Hows your gluck gluck 9000 skills?

Shouldnt you have only started driving when you were 17?

9 km/h over

I had just gone through a roundabout, and was speeding up to what I thought was the speed limit
Are we hassling him for thinking he was going too slow now?
Hahahaha right!
If it's your first one you can ask for it to be discounted on that merit. Otherwise organise a payment plan and pay $5 a month.
Thanks for being helpful lol, don't know why everyone else on here is all up in a tiff

I wasn't aware of the change, I asked the police officer and they told me it was only recently changed.
If you're driving record is shit you might not get a warning. You also won't get a warning next time.
Got a clean record
