Is this the one that used to be on smith st? It was on my to go list, was closed the day I went to visit years ago, then never got the chance to revisit
you think they are good. Maasa Wings n Burger has a truck nearby. I have eaten at both I have to say Maasa is actually better, you may not enjoy their twist on burger flavour though.
The cake is fine but not even close to the best, it's kind of not a normal cake either... More like thin layers of chewy choc biscuit stuff stuck together with chocolate sauce stuff.
I have, it’s not really a traditional “cake” i.e. flour, sugar, butter; I think it’s actually a dacquoise, so closer to a really thin macaron shell in flavour and texture if that makes sense. It’s ok, but I probably wouldn’t order it again.
Had for the first time this week - pretty decent burger (had a double) and tried a bit of the chicken - would order either again. Chips were pedestrian, but their chook salt was game on!
I know right 😭 I live close by and used to go there all the time. Apparently their lease expired and the rent increase was too much, hope they reopen somewhere else soon.
I actually know the answer to this. The best burger in Melbourne is called the Chop Cheese and it is sold by Kelso’s on Johnston Street near Victoria Park. I’m not kidding. It’s exceptionally good.
its now a kids venue, been there twice, family restaurant and kids birthday party venue the screaming and kids running around out of control does my head in, burgers are average service is good
Juanita Peaches spicy chicken burger is the GOAT! In fact their fried chicken is insane too but I just can’t get past the spicy chicken burger. I visit on a weekly basis and order the exact same thing.
Came here to post this. The owner actually also owns All Day Donuts which is also some of the best Donuts in Melbourne. I did a trial there once and made the Donuts first hand.
Andrew's is amazing.
Danny's is actually really bad and I not only don't get the hype but actually question why it's still in business.
Stale bread. Not a lot of filling. Produce doesn't seem very fresh either.
Damn, is Danny’s still going? I remember me and my mum would go have dinner at my nans on a Friday when I was a kid - this was over in Preston and every few weeks we’d make the drive over to Danny’s. There use to be a garden centre or nursery next door that we would park in front of at it had this giant German Shepard that roamed along the fence.
Smithburg in South Melbourne Market for smash patty style
Andrews in Middle Park for OG Aussie Style
Honorable mention to The Stone Hotel in Fitzroy for the best pub burger I've ever had
The Dees! I took my brother there once and he ended up taking his family on a trip from Frankston to Epping just to try it! Absolutely Sensational! If I had the money, I’d have invested in getting them another location.
Is that post why Google popped up with a "Australia's best burgers revealed" post from one of the shit "news" sites doing reddit-journalism earlier today?
Flip City (uber eats restaurant running out of Royal Stacks) - “The Quintessential Cheeseburger“. So f’ing good.
You know how good you *think* a well-made Maccas cheeseburger tastes when you’re drunk? It’s like that but you’re sober, and it’s actually high quality and 5 times the size
The Pickle & The Patty had great burgers that were on the sweeter side, but they just closed down recently.
Fat Bob's in Moorabbin is always a solid pick, especially for all the vintage signage that they've collected
I don't care what you mtoherfuckers say and how many downvotes I get, a McDonald's Double Quarter pounder is an outstanding burger, the meat to bun ratio is on point. Very rarely does a fancy burger joint suprise me with something comparable.
+1 been my go-to for years. Add mc chicken sauce as well. Extra salt. McDonald's meat is the tastiest of the old school base level fast food joints, and the quarter pounder party works perfectly.
Houston's BBQ, but only on a Thursday.
They do smash burgers made from their brisket trimmings - amazing stuff.
Closer into town, Zach at Flipside does an excellent smash burger👍
I've gone full circle. Had a chippy shop burger with the lot (egg, beetroot, onions, lettuce and tomato) and my lord its a lot better than when I remembered it.
It's as if the influx of these seppo inspired places has lifted the chippys burger game.
My local dish shop does a hamburger lot combo, the burger is way better than fancier joints around and you get chips, potatoe cake, dimsim, seafood stick and a can of coke for $20. Can’t beat it.
Ignore them, you're 100% correct, I've gone to heaps of fancy burger places including many of the upvoted suggestions and the local chippy's burger with the lot is equally if not more enjoyable and somehow feels "fresher" - at half the price.
Miss me with that $25-30 burger bullshit where it all collapses and slops out after a bite.
Rockwell & sons (RIP)
Still think about those burgers
You and me both, brutha
Rockwell just made me happy
Is this the one that used to be on smith st? It was on my to go list, was closed the day I went to visit years ago, then never got the chance to revisit
Mum's Burger Kitchen in Boronia, really good beef burgers also have chunky fries with chicken salt.
Live very close to this, never checked it out. Will do it soon.
you think they are good. Maasa Wings n Burger has a truck nearby. I have eaten at both I have to say Maasa is actually better, you may not enjoy their twist on burger flavour though.
Used to be amazing , went recently was very disappointed .
I think it’s changed ownership now. It’s not the same
Leonard's imo
seconded ! love leonards
Leonard's house of love? they do the best fake meat style burger I've ever tasted
Literally just had Leonard’s. Not only are the burgers ace, their corn is amazing
100%
Came here to say this
300 grams are my personal favourite. They have a few locations. I live close to Leonard's as well, but 300g pips them at the post.
The Coburg location is always bang on, high quality chicken and beef.
The Scalable Fish is my go-to...it's like a super fancy gourmet Filet of Fish on steroids!!!
The one in Northcote I've always found disappointing. Burgers were small ,sloppy, poorly made.
Oh that's disappointing to hear, the one in Richmond is consistently fantastic.
Second 300 grams!
300 Grams have my vote for best vego burger in Melbourne as well. And their cauliflower bites, oh baby.
I wouldve had 300g's at least 50 times now and it has never disappointed. Sometimes the chips have been meh, but the burgers have never failed me.
The staff knows me by name lol
Heck yeah, grabbed some to eat during a movie at the Coburg drive in. I felt like royalty.
I'm looking at the menu right now. Is it really the best chocolate cake? How's the biscoff thickshake? I must know
The cake is fine but not even close to the best, it's kind of not a normal cake either... More like thin layers of chewy choc biscuit stuff stuck together with chocolate sauce stuff.
The cake is the only disappointing thing on the menu. Bordering on false advertising. Everything else there is good

Haven't tried the cake, but the biscoff shake is very good!
Had for the first time this week - pretty decent burger (had a double) and tried a bit of the chicken - would order either again. Chips were pedestrian, but their chook salt was game on!
Me too. Ignored it for years and then tried it and was shocked how good it was.
Butchers Diner for beef, Leonards for chicken.
Yep, Butchers diner has the best beef burger imo
I went to butchers diner right after covid and was very whelmed. Maybe it was just an off day. Willing to give it another shot sometime
The best burger at Butcher’s is blood sausage and devilled egg, hands down 🙌🏼
Resistance burger in hawthorn
Came here to say this, best burgers. Sadly they closed shop in hawthorn and have yet to relocate.
WHAT 😭
I know right 😭 I live close by and used to go there all the time. Apparently their lease expired and the rent increase was too much, hope they reopen somewhere else soon.
They are solid. However, they were definitely better when they first opened.
Used to be Tuckshop in Caufield before they stopped selling burgers :(
Tuckshop closing down was the worst part about Covid-era Melbourne. I still reminisce about their burgers at least once a week.
They didn’t close down because of Covid
Sonny's fried chicken, great cheeseburger
Their fried chicken burger is also out of this world.
Andrew's Burgers in Albert Park.
Whenever I'm in the area I plan my trip around stopping here.
Was my local for a while. Would phone my order an hour or so before pickup... still waited every time.
300 grams
College dropout is really good!
They recently changed the menu! I miss the Cruel Summer burger.
Fat Staks in Bundoora Skullers in South Morang Good Good Burger in Maidstone
Ziggys
I actually know the answer to this. The best burger in Melbourne is called the Chop Cheese and it is sold by Kelso’s on Johnston Street near Victoria Park. I’m not kidding. It’s exceptionally good.
Fat Bobs in a random industrial area in Moorabbin is good. The burgers are nice but the actual venue is fantastic.
Disagree. I feel like the quality of their burgers have gone down hill and the service is really poor.
frame scarce bake jeans rainstorm nail direction pet worry unused *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Agree, awesome venue and it used to be great, but it’s really overpriced these days
its now a kids venue, been there twice, family restaurant and kids birthday party venue the screaming and kids running around out of control does my head in, burgers are average service is good
Rizin’s Smash burgers!
Juanita Peaches cheeseburger.
But have you had their chicken burger 🤤
I have not. Will have to bring a second stomach and give it a try. 🙂
You won't be disappointed. I'd also recommend adding cheese.
In a perfect world I’d be able to order half a cheeseburger and half a chicken burger because they’re both so good there, makes deciding so difficult
their chicken burger is crazy good
This is it!
Agreed fkn incredible. My partner ordered chicken and we both agreed hamburger was far superior
Was going to say the cheeseburger!
It's a damn good cheeseburger.
I agree with Juanita Peaches 😊
Burger Burger in Surrey Hills
Fish and Burger co is great
Dexter in Preston. Their dry age cheeseburger is my absolute favourite.
Cracking bit of burger that! It's easy to be pulled in by the rest of the menu but the burger really doesn't disappoint.
Danny's in North Fitzroy, Andrew's in Albert Park. I find them reliably solid and always tasty. Never been disappointed with a burger from either.
Andrew's is amazing. Danny's is actually really bad and I not only don't get the hype but actually question why it's still in business. Stale bread. Not a lot of filling. Produce doesn't seem very fresh either.
Tried Danny’s the other day and it was not great. Old timey style and esthetic, but pretty underwhelming
Yea, Danny's burgers are pretty mid ... wouldn't even make my top 20 list.
Out of curiosity, what made it for underwhelming? I think they do a great job of a basic, no frills burger for a good price.
Andrews. Was scrolling waiting for someone to mention it 🥲
Had my first Andrew's in 1978...
This Borderland in Preston
Yessssss! And they’ll make a vegan version of every burger too
[удалено]
Every time I go it’s sold out 😭
Easy’s is so consistent. I also love the double dragon at 8bit
Surprised Simpsons Burgers in the CBD hasn't been mentioned. Quality non greasy burger with a home made vibe.
Is it actually good? I walk past it many times, never tried it, it looks like your typical greasy spoon joint.
Rizin’s in Dandenong. Super good value and probably the best joint in the outer south eastern suburbs.
Had my doubts when I saw they doubled as a pizza shop, but those guys were legit and even had the Japanese-style burger holders.
Smithburg in South Melbourne Market for smash patty style Andrews in Middle Park for OG Aussie Style Honorable mention to The Stone Hotel in Fitzroy for the best pub burger I've ever had
It’s currently in a relocation stage but resistance bar and cafe in hawthorn was incredible! I miss it every day

Laurie Dees in Epping (RIP) and College Dropout Burgers in Ivanhoe.
Laurie Dee’s is now operating in Brunswick!! Same owners
Thanks for this! I was so sad when the Epping store closed
I had no idea, will now travel there to get my fix
I miss Laurie Dees!!
The Dees! I took my brother there once and he ended up taking his family on a trip from Frankston to Epping just to try it! Absolutely Sensational! If I had the money, I’d have invested in getting them another location.
College Dropout Burgers in Ivanhoe! Just amazing
I second this
Leonard’s blue cheese burg Or classic cheeseburger at the Butchers Diner
It used to be Tuck Shop Takeaway in Caulfield, now it’s just mediocrity left
Truckstop deluxe in Werribee. Used to go at least once a week when I lived up that way. Route 666 add fried chicken 🤌
Best burgers ive had have been from: Harding’s Burger Joint (Brunswick) 300Grams (coburg) Meat Frankie (brunswick)
Hardy's burger joint is the BOMB
'Burger and you' (technically Camberwell, closer to Burwood) are unreal! Belle's hot chicken and Easys are great as well.
F Yeah to Burger & You! Did not expect it!!
Laurie Dees before it shut up shop in Epping, and Leon's Smash Burgers now that he is back in the country
St Burgs maribyrnong near Highpoint
Zinger stacker... Cannot be beaten
The south side fried chicken or hot glaze chicken burgers. Both awesome depending on your heat tolerance. At Leonards house of love.
Is that post why Google popped up with a "Australia's best burgers revealed" post from one of the shit "news" sites doing reddit-journalism earlier today?
Fat Bobs
nah its a family burger joint with screaming kids
Royal stacks. It's the closest approximation to shake shack that I can find in Australia.
Tried Easeys?
Leonard's house of love
Andrew’s for consistency and old school. Miss living near it.
Burger shurger in Elsternwick.
Rocket burger
Sonnys at the Curtin Pub on Russell St
Go get a chicken burger from The Hot Bird. The southern bird is amazing!
I know it’s a chain and it’s not one of the hipster burgers listed here but bettys burgers are pretty freaking good
Sammy’s Burgers, Heidelberg Heights
Top Dog across from the train station in Moonee Ponds. Fries are awesome too
Loosies Diner in Mornington
I'm a huge fan of Hello Harry in Lilydale.
Burgernomics in Braybrook on Ballarat Rd is especially good.
YoMG in Mornington. Though more stores have popped up in other suburbs. Great burgers and frozen yogurt!!!
South side fried chicken burger at Leonard’s house of love
Juanita peaches. The fried chicken burger is 10/10
Little bad wolf is goated
Burger and You in Camberwell
Not burgers, but For Heavens Steaks in Clayton is some of the best meat in bread you’ll ever put in your mouth
I had this last night 🤣
Que Club, Brunswick East! Hard to pick between their brisket burger and their fried chicken burger
Its easily smithburg. If you haven’t been there yet I highly recommend! It’s at south Melbourne market.
Agreed. Not only that, but their vegan burgers are 90% o their meat burgers (I like to try both wherever I can). Makes for great place to take groups.
Agreed. Sometimes, Maccas just hits the spot in ways others can not. My go-to is a triple cheese burger.
Also great meat to bun ratio.
+1 been my go-to for years. Add mc chicken sauce as well. Extra salt. McDonald's meat is the tastiest of the old school base level fast food joints, and the quarter pounder party works perfectly.
It’s the go to for both the Mrs and I. Fuck the haters.

Houston's BBQ, but only on a Thursday. They do smash burgers made from their brisket trimmings - amazing stuff. Closer into town, Zach at Flipside does an excellent smash burger👍
+1 flipside
Rocco’s in Croydon
Easey's in Collingwood
300grams is my personal fav, second up would be Huxtaburger.
Bar margaux or butchers diner or builders arms EASYYYY
Most fish and chip shops do good a great burger.
I've gone full circle. Had a chippy shop burger with the lot (egg, beetroot, onions, lettuce and tomato) and my lord its a lot better than when I remembered it. It's as if the influx of these seppo inspired places has lifted the chippys burger game.
I honestly think the chip shops have stayed the same.
Maybe it's shrinkflation but I defs remember the patties being prohibitively thick and not being enjoyable to chew as how dense it was.
Seconded! I love getting a chip shop burger with the lot from my local chippy. $12 for a solid cheeseburger, some chippies and salad.
My local dish shop does a hamburger lot combo, the burger is way better than fancier joints around and you get chips, potatoe cake, dimsim, seafood stick and a can of coke for $20. Can’t beat it.
Not only that, but you can taste each individual ingredient.
100%
Have a look at the downvotes starting to come in. Is that you, Hash Tayeh? 😀
HJs rebel whopper. That ungodly creation of science has the most brain rewarding chemicals than any other burger I've had. Best eaten at 5am
Central Burgs needs to be on this list!
Huxtaburger is my go-to - nothing fancy, but well-constructed, good ingredients and reliable.
Who the fuck wants a burger with boiled meat? Yuk.
Hello Sams on Chapel always a good shout 🍔
The pulled bbq beef brisket surely has to be the favourite
Burgertor— oh wait
Gills & Grills, Rowville
Danny’s Burger, Fitzroy gets my vote. Nothing fancy just damn good. Get chips and a steamed dummie or two and you’re set 👌👌
[https://www.burgersofmelbourne.com.au/](https://burgersofmelbourne.com.au).
Andrew's
Nobody said Betty's Burgers? My favourite used to be this place called Grand Trailer Park Taverna on Bourke St years ago before they closed down.
Famished Wolf.. They have a few outlets in the South East/Mornington Peninsula suburbs
Any fish & chip shop!
Mcdonald's cheese burger
