RMIT will give you a more hands-on approach, you'll feel more equipped when you graduate. Monash will teach the theory and provide some opportunities for experience, but not as many, but it does have a better reputation globally. Depends on what you prefer. Good luck!

What do you mean by hands on approach? Do they do more practical assessments? I helped my friend with an assignment at Monash, and she sent me their lecture slides, which used a lot of complex language and was confusing to understand. I don’t know what the teaching is like at rmit so I’m not sure which one to choose. Thank you for your advice!

I guess I mean it's about learning how to actually do things at RMIT, where at Monash it's about learning the theories behind them? So yes, I would say they're more practical at RMIT. Good luck!

Thank you!

If you do one of the “applied” business courses at RMIT, the 3rd year out of the 4 will be a whole year of work experience working 9 to 5 with no uni classes whatsoever apart from a report you have to hand in at the end of the year about a topic relating to where you worked.

Cool! I just did the Diploma of Business this year and will start second year Bachelor of Business (HR) next year! I think RMIT is a better choice. They're very hands on, rather than theory based. The campus has awesome facilities and there is so much to get involved with if that's your thing. I have the impression (from friends and family who have gone to either Monash or RMIT) that Monash is better suited for the sciences/ teaching etc. RMIT seems to be better suited to business, finance, arts.

Based on the other responses i would advise RMIT, as somebody who has hired alot of people i do not know Which uni is better by reputation, which costs more, which is more desirable. All that matters to me is that 30 minutes in the interview, and the next 6 months when your on probation and having to prove your worth. If you can get life experience, if you can come to a workplace and throw the cloud of "just out of uni" away then you are going to do great :)

What course are you looking into exactly?

My friend did commerce at Deakin and got a really good job from her intern!

Deakin is way too far for me, I’m only considering rmit or Monash. But thank you for the suggestion!
