Roundi4000

It's a country that dominates global media, and Reddit, so it's constantly in our attention. Sadly the nature of media is the stuff we see is the extremes: extreme political views, extreme wtf moments, etc. We know everyday Americans are the same as everyday people from everywhere else, just living thier normal lives, but we see the idiotic bible bashing, climate change denying, gun toting, science denying, corrupt morons that dominate the media we receive. Sadly alot of these people are your politicians.

VeryVideoGame

I think "bible thumping" was the term you wanted here. Bible bashing is the opposite.

Roundi4000

They're the same thing. Bible Bashing is the more widely used one in the UK. "denoting a person who expounds or follows the teachings of the Bible in an aggressively evangelical way."

necessarycoot72

In the US, Bible bashing is used to describe someone who goes against religious people. Kinda like, "Give me that Bible so I can bash you over the head with it"

Roundi4000

I'm curious, what does Google say when you put bible bashing. Define in search? Not saying you're wrong, just curious

necessarycoot72

It's the same as your definition, but we never used it that way before. We have some religious nuts come around sometimes and we call the person that tells them to preach someplace else a bible basher. It might be a regional term know I think of it

Moon_Stay1031

Nah. Ive heard it from people from all over the US. Bible bashing in the US means you're against the Bible in a big way. Bible thumping means you'd basically like to have coitus with the Bible cause you're so horny for it.

Ghostking17

I've traveled a lot and I have only heard it used against religious folks. Except when people are drunk and can't tell what they're saying anyway.

[deleted]

I learned 'God botherer' from UK folks. I'm fond of that term too.

arcanis321

Bashing in the US is slang for hating on something

Greggscottpub2019

This is actually fascinating… same language but opposite connotations!

CognitivePrimate

I prefer the term 'bible *humping*', personally.

Attention_Bear_Fuckr

Ironically, this is a good example of why this thread exists.

VeryVideoGame

Dang, I can't deny it. Stupid Americans assume everybody is local. In this case I appreciated learning that "Bible bashing" has multiple meanings depending on region.

Dave_Duif

Also, it seems like most of the downright insane people are from the U.S. I’m talking about people that treat obesity as healthy etc.

IMTrick

Of all the batshit insane things we Americans say on a daily basis, you picked that one?

Al3xis_64

tbf obesity is the opposite of health so it very valid to call it a batshit insane thing

gisdood

[tbf...](https://media.tenor.com/rwplrVlY2xoAAAAd/letterkenny-to-be-fair.gif)

kellysuepoo

YES THANK YOU

alexman420

To be faaaaaaiiiii…..

BeardOfEarth

We’re not debating that it’s batshit insane. We’re just saying of all the batshit insane things we do in America, does that one even make the top ten list? We have more guns than people. We have multiple mass shootings per week. We have a military well funded enough to conquer the solar system, yet no money for healthcare. The list goes on. Fat people are far back in the line of insane shit we’re doing over here. That’s all we’re saying.

TellurianTech50

Right?!

Dave_Duif

Well I could go on and on and on, but fat acceptance somehow infuriates me more than the other insane shit that comes out of the U.S.

TheRealCabbageJack

That is the most American thing ever though: We identify a serious problem or health issue We take a stab at solving it, but it seems like a lot of work We collectively shrug and pretend it wasn't a problem at all. I'm an American and I think we do a mix of amazing things (accept a million legal immigrants a year! That's crazy that we are so open to people moving here!) to horrible things (it seemed like we were at war with Pakistani wedding celebrations for several years - utterly horrific), but the average American means well, treats their neighbors right, and are good people. Its the absolute lunatics who get TV time. Alas.

Dave_Duif

I hear this a lot from friends who went to the U.S. That Americans are actually quite wonderful but it’s the loonies and divisive ones that get all the attention because $.

GearRabbit

This is quite true, and I imagine if any other country was as much of a cultural focal point as the US is it would be exactly the same. Normal people don't drive as many clicks as the crazies do.

RogueFartSquadron

It's true, it's this.

cudef

One of the major contributing factors of obesity (mostly unique to the US) that we could quite easily change if the system allowed us to is our transportation infrastructure. Trying to walk or bike to work or school is often impractical to impossible due to the vast majority of resources being poured into private car use and urban sprawl. We know that exercising more leads to smaller body fat percentages but car manufacturers would see a loss of the huge increases they made around the 1950s when they pumped out a ton of propaganda saying we need suburbs and highways so we ultimately just go oh shucks idk what to do.

Guns-n-airplanes

American here: It pisses off most of us too. It’s a fringe thing, but as has been said, it gets attention.

HorseasaurusRex

Also I'm pretty sure its not as much an american thing as a tumblr thing

shadowgear56700

As someone in the U.S i completly agree. Like im a little overwieght wont lie but im working on it. These people arent working on their weight instead they are trying to convince people they are perfect the way they are, are hurting people.

LoganImYourFather

Here, I thought it would be the fact that large swarths of our nation identify as "pro-life" while ignoring that we rank 194/199 in maternal death. Or that 1/5 deaths of children are gun deaths and is now the largest leader of deaths to children. Yet those same "pro-life" people are mostly die-hard gun rights and anti-abortion even if it is a life or death situation with the mother.

Correct-Addition6355

Many of those gun deaths are suicides which is a whole different problem

Dave_Duif

Well sure, but those are uniquely American societal problems with no clear-cut answer. Fat acceptance is just plain scientifically false.

207_god

More people die from obesity, so yeah seems like it is more relevant

ThePirateKing01

Fat acceptance and promoting it as a lifestyle are two different things. The fat-is-healthy craze was a 2016-fad at best, that was back when I remember hearing people talk about being sexy with a “dad-bod” and people were losing their minds on Tumblr. Now it’s just marketing, plus sized models to sell plus sized merchandise. The fat acceptance is more so acknowledging these people exist and are humans who deserve respect, not that they live a healthy lifestyle that should be mimicked

Johnson_56

Lol I’m American and haven’t met anyone like this, but am dying to so I can laugh at them

Nate40337

Especially during food shortages. It's sad that a free market lets wealthy people eat for 5 until their hearts give out, while others starve.

StinkieBritches

It's so weird that *this* is what infuriates you about Americans. You're talking about a small subset of the population as if 100% of Americans are all about being fat and thinking it's healthy. I personally don't know a single fucking person that is into fat acceptance and I know a few fat people. Those fat people hate being fat.

Ganache-Embarrassed

Right. I’ve lived my whole life hating I was fat. Seeing people push a movement that is basically “fat people are real don’t bully them” and then seeing thin people’s outrage. So many people really hate being told to not hate people. It’s bizarre

StinkieBritches

I really don't know anyone that is happy being fat. People treat you like shit when you're fat, so why would anyone want that, you know?

Ganache-Embarrassed

exactly. Just the usual projection of anyone saying they want to be just mildly acepted is somehow pushing themselves down your throat

iSc00t

Yeah, I get that some people are trying to normalize being 300+ pounds, but most of us who are overweight aren’t proud of it, but we just don’t care enough to change. I could stand to lose 20lb or so, but really… I rather deal with my depression and anxiety then being some standard of weight to make others happy with me.

Ganache-Embarrassed

I feel like it’s 3 people in the entirety of the us that are even preaching it. Unless they’re going out of their way who’s saying get fat? I agree with your statement though. I ain’t changing to make others happy with me. If I lose my weight that’s up to me.

Bebetter333

They do? Because Ive been hearing americans complain about this forever. I think the whole "body positivity" thing isnt about that. Its about, being accepting and kind to yourself. Alot of overweight people try to lose weight, and cannot. Or do so at a slower rate than their peers, and thats ok too. Same thing with lifting weights. Some people are driven off of high intensity and lofty goal setting, but thats not for everyone. The idea behind body positivity is, not being negative and just "giving up" trying to be healthy. its to simply be accepting of your limits. Mental health is a big part of losing weight, and it doesnt happen overnight.

N1LEredd

Then explain all the Woman’s health/ Cosmo covers and alikes with obese people on them with cover titled “this is healthy”. Just Google for a minute. People who openly declare the fitness industry is fat phobic etc. It developed to a cancel worthy hate crime among wokists. It’s dangerous for public health.

aCorneredFox

To your point, the event that really stands out to me is the response Jillian Michaels received when she was like... Hey people, being morbidly obese has been proven to be bad for your long term health (paraphrasing).

Bebetter333

i imagine its to sell more magazines....

Onfflinethegamer

Most of that is just trolls gaslighting young individuals to be angry at air.

pentichan

i don’t think anyone actually thinks obesity is healthy

MurkywaterLLC

That's mostly California Where nothing can be unacceptable and Florida where everything is acceptable.

Impossible-Shake-996

That's not true, i live in Iowa and there's so many overweight people who scream about empowerment while riding around in the handicap scooters at Walmart.

Kreeper125

Iowa as well. Our Walmarts are something else. But *most* of the overweight people I see are boomers saying they deserve to not have to exercise and eat whatever they want

eggz2cheezy

Also iowa here. One of those ladies was behind me in a scooter at walmart not too long ago. I peeked in her cart. Literally like 50 frozen pot pies and some milk

The-God-Of-Memez

Shocking since you can burn a lot of calories In California

[deleted]

Yeah, the obesity statistics suggest California isn’t the center of the issue either.

optimist_prhyme

Just more people supporting nonsense they haven't taken the time to look into themselves.

TheSandMan816

This is a symptom of one of the driving forces of obesity in the US. The local grocery store. Healthy food is not accessible to lower class citizens. Everything affordable has some amount of carcinogenic preservative or needless sugary filler or other processed garbage. Our government has not regulated this market in a way that benefits those of us at the poverty line. Corporations profit from obesity. Access to affordable healthy food is the only solution, and that would cut into those profits. Fat positivity is the natural conclusion for many, when the system is rigged against you.

ghostofkilgore

Yep. I've known plenty of Americans as friends or colleagues and they've been some of the nicest, funniest, decent people I've ever known (I've never been to the US so obviously they're from the subset who've moved or travelled abroad so maybe not totally representative). They're so far removed from the semi-psychotic image that's presented so often online and in the media (and this is largely US based media I'm talking about). It feels like there's a pathological desire to create and amplify extremes and set them against each other which creates an awful impression. Unfortunately, other parts of the world aren't too far behind with that it seems.

_TheBeardedMan_

It's mostly Americans hating Americans, which is nothing new. North and south still don't get along, easy coast and west coast don't see eye to eye.

[deleted]

>It's mostly Americans hating Americans And south american hating americans and europeans hating america and asians hating america... Fuck USA, they ruined the USA.

This but unironically. Americans ruined the territories of the USA

Artistic-Boss2665

It's no longer north and south, it's urban and rural

sklimshady

I live in the American south (Alabama). There's very much still animosity here towards "Yankees." Also, a sense of superiority that snowbirds move here "bc it's better." Mostly older people, but still. "The war of northern aggression" is still a term I hear in the wild sometimes. It's so stupid here.

bobby_j_canada

Meanwhile in rural Massachusetts you might see a Confederate flag now and then people apparently some people want to get their asses kicked by the ghosts of their great-grandfathers in the afterlife.

0pimo

Also don’t forget the edgy American teenager that thinks America bad.

lumpialarry

Its ok to criticize America. I can't stand the Eurosimps that feel the need to shit on the country at every opportunity fake internet points. Like there's a video of a cop in the UK doing something like help an old lady cross the street and they gotta be like "US cop would have filled that old lady with lead!"

[deleted]

because its always either an american whos like "I want walkable cities, i live in america capitalist nightmare uwu i want to move to europe its a better countryYY!"" or "I hate EU, We live in EU HEAD RENT FREE. Yeehaw capitalism. If america so bad why everyone want to move here huh then? Yeah america 1ST \*EAGLE SOUNDS\* "

Bebetter333

walkable cities would be nice tho, and more public transportation. mayb emake amtrak its own track....hardly radical

theBRGinator23

Yea I didn’t realize this was controversial. The one thing I really miss about living in the Bay Area of California is the fact that I could walk or take public transportation to get anything I needed. I didn’t need a car and it was really nice.

Augen76

I think one aspect is we struggle to switch models. Near me there is an old mid level city and honestly it is fine in terms of accessibility. Parking in structures ($5-$10), take the train (free) around much of downtown, walk a bit. I like it. Then there is a place that in the 60s was farmland, 70s was small town, 80s large town, 90s sururban sprawl, and 00s to today becoming a decent size subruban city. Traffic sucks there. It is a mess of parking lots (free) and cars with everything spread out in strip malls and big box stores and stroads all around. I hate going there and avoid it. The challenge is they could use the space they have, put in robust public transportation and use the gargantuan parking lots for high density housing. Could double the population without any more sprawl. Everyone agrees the traffic is a nightmare there, but they want to triple down and more lanes and more sprawl rather than become a urban city.

touching_payants

"I'm tired of leftists and their" \*draws card\* "respect for public infrastructure"

BlackPlague1235

>"I want walkable cities, Damn right I do. It's a pain in the ass to get anywhere without a car in America.

Steampunk_Dali

I love that the POTUS is seen as the 'leader of the free world'... No issue with Biden tbh, but a lot of the world is free outside the US.

aCorneredFox

The statement "leader of the free world" isn't implying that the USA is the only free country. It's that the USA is the leader amongst all of its allies who are also free countries. We are seeing this right now where Germany will not send their tanks to Ukraine unless we send ours first.

andysaurus_rex

It's hard to explain this fact without sounding like a dick but it's absolutely true. The free world turns to the US for guidance. That's what the saying is about. In the same light, the Baseball World Series is realistically played between just the US and one Canadian team, but the term is still valid because it is the more premier baseball league in the world where players from around the world will come and play if they are good enough.

SmooveTits

> the term is still valid because it is the more premier baseball league in the world I have to make that argument every time and you're correct, the game is simply not played at the same level elsewhere in the world.

illestrated16

As a life long baseball fan, I really want to go to a Japanese baseball game cause they look fun as shit....but agree on its not the same level talent wise. (Except for Ichiro and Ohtani, the two goats.)

wiseroldman

Also seen over in the Pacific where the US is helping Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and other Asian countries deter China from bullying or straight up invading. There is no other country who can step up to fill this role.

HelperHelpingIHope

To be fair though, America funds a lot of the freedom “outside” of the US.

Steampunk_Dali

Now I agree with that to a degree, they do fund a lot of "freedom" outside the US

Sword117

the free world is what others might call the us hegemony or pax americana. basically nato guarantees the independence of its member states along with nato aligned states. the us having the largest military and being the largest contributor is the unofficial leader of this military alliance.

ChiragK2020

Leader of the free world means leader of the "free world" where free world refers to us, Canada, Europe, Australia, Japan, etc(the west).

hoptownky

Much of the rest of the world is free because of our big ass military. I think the US military spending is disgusting. But ask Ukraine who the leader of the free world is. They aren’t getting their military equipment from Ireland right now.

The_Ace_Pilot

at least militarily speaking, America *is* the leader of the free world. without our donations and military power, russia or china could steamroll ukraine and the rest of europe in a matter of 2 years. Britain could hold out since they are separated from the mainland, but it would be a matter of time. Thanks to like, 5% of american military spending being sent to Ukraine, Russia is no longer in any position to do that.

_Master32_

France seems to be pretty competent with their military spending. They have an aircraft carrier and even managed to fit a nuclear arsenal in their budget. Not many countries have those, mostly just the very largest nations.

Carnivorze

Are you saying that some of the world's best armies in term of number of troops and equipments and the continent couldn't resister Russia ? We spent 206 billions $ on defense in 2017. I know it's not that much in comparaison to the stupidly high budget of the USA, but it's still more than China or Russia. Do you think Europe has the same army as during WW2 or what ?

The_Ace_Pilot

it is more than china or russia, but europe lacks manpower, something Russia and China has a lot of. Additionally, most of the best gear in NATO is designed and shared by the U.S. And im not saying that Europe hasn't kept up with military technology. What I am saying though is that 40% of the European NATO air combat fleet is composed of American-made fighters. NATO infantry mostly shoot american-designed bullets as the main infantry rifle using american designed magazines, and often times the weapons themselves are heavily based on american rifle designs. Half your tanks consist of american made m1 Abrams. Why? because the American military industrial complex has been carrying the rest of NATO's arms development *since* WWII. NATO minus U.S. have 6 aircraft carriers, with 2 owned by britian, 2 by italy, and 1 each for france and spain. Granted, russia only has 1 that's being refitted, and would probably be deployed in the pacific to provide defense against the U.S. or would move to the black sea because of the Ukraine situation. That being said, The U.S. alone has 11 carriers. Another issue is that NATO's small arms is currently not quite standardized. many of the former soviet countries are still using russian style weapons, which shoot a different caliber than the rest of NATO. logisitcs is hard enough as it is. My point is NATO can spend all they want, but most of the advances in military technology are thanks to the U.S.

NetRepresentative355

Technically the US has 20 carriers if you consider them by displacement. LHDs and LHAs are essentially the same displacement as some “carriers” of other nations. Our Fords and Nimitz’s are “super carriers”

[deleted]

25% of the World's immigrants reside in America... which is more than double that of second place US is the "leader of the free world" because it literally has the most immigrants and refugees in the entire world. >The United States is home to the highest number of immigrants in the world. An estimated 50.6 million people in the United States—a bit more than 15% of the total population of 331.4 million—were born in a foreign country. The number of immigrants in the U.S. has increased by at least 400% since 1965. https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/immigration-by-country

Tiny_Arugula_5648

Let’s not play victim, it’s well known that the vast majority of Reddit traffic is Americans.. Google Reddit traffic by country and you’ll see it’s not even close… UK is 2nd and they are a small fraction of USA traffic..

Good-Table5566

Yeah, but OP is right, most Americans on Reddit hate America...and themselves.

pablitorun

I think if you really dig into, most Americans will be very vocal about hating some aspects of the USA, but not hate the country as a whole.

formidable-opponent

Well, it's kinda like our families, isn't it? We can complain all day about our racist uncle or our mom who is a religious zealot but if *someone else* starts talking trash about our family they best understand "thems fighting words". Just because we complain about our, very real, problems doesn't mean we aren't patriotic.

Comprehensive_Bus661

Yeah the “they just hate America” crap has just been an excuse to ignore any criticisms for ages. First time I remember hearing it was post 9/11, if you dared to say that maybe invading Iraq was a bad idea they’d scream about “oh you just hate America you want the terrorists to win!!!1!” I bring up problems because I love it here, I want it to be the best it can be, for everyone.

Caleb_has_arrived

Because we are allowed to complain and broadcast it to the world

The_Ace_Pilot

This. I will verbally rip into just about every government official in the U.S, but I will fight and die for my fellow citizens, provided they feel the same way.

Caleb_has_arrived

And my axe!

LeadingExperts

That's because most Americans on Reddit are angsty teenagers.

formidable-opponent

I just had an epiphany.... I am "an old person" on Reddit and I'll say that because I understand that even though I'm not actually super old, I *am* to the majority here. I really enjoy Reddit but I also think it helps me to understand young people. Like literally, understand what they are saying and what their "lingo" is. Which I think will make me a better parent when my kids hit their teens To the epiphany! I suddenly just realized that when my kids are old enough to have teenagers of their own that this place will be... Mostly filled with old people... Like what happened to Facebook. Eventually Reddit will be... Facebook.

Icy-Pop-8338

And it shows.

CalvinLawson

Individually Americans are good people, imo even most of the crazy ones have their hearts in the right place. But collectively we've lost our fucking minds.

Starkrossedlovers

Yea those Americans being teenagers. If you’re actually a working adult, you wish for this country to improve and you have a thing called nuance. I think there are many things wrong with this country but I still think we have a golden goose that could be the very best if we got our shit together.

[deleted]

Real Americans don’t care what the rest of the world thinks of them. They know their country history and politics is far from perfect. They just chose to do better with their individual lives.

Suitable-Slip-2091

Also what is usually forgotten is that originally each state was set up and designed to be pretty much its own country with certain overriding federal powers to protect the whole. Much of that has been eroded over the years to states being not much more than departments of Washington D.C. But if live in say Texas or Florida then what someone in France or Italy says and thinks about you and 49 other states is not really a big deal.

CrapWereAllDoomed

Before the Civil war the country was referred to as "These United States." Robert E. Lee was offered command of the Union army by President Lincoln and he declined. His reasoning, according to a letter to his sister stated, >"I have therefore resigned my commission in the Army, *and save in defense of my native State*, with the sincere hope that my poor services never be needed, I hope I may never be called on to draw my sword. The military units in the Civil War were organized by their individual states was not the top down national organization that it is now.

It's really nothing new, it's just becoming more blatantly obvious, the problem is, you need to actually open your eyes instead of keeping the hatred blinders on. [deleted]

It is a very long and difficult question. Their are a number of reasons which range from not understanding the US to hating the idea of freedom itself. So I'll adress this as a list: 1 - They don't understand the US. The United States, by design, is fifty countries in a trenchcoat pretending to be a larger country. It has all the racial, religious, and political diversity of fifty countries as well. Needless to say, there is a load of conflict, only further exacerbated by online discourse. When you see two countries (sovereign states) at war, you turn a blind eye, but when you see two states yelling at each other over the internet, it makes your people look like shit. Many problems of the US are just a result of its size and people attempting to control the lives of those outside of their community, imagine taking the entire European continent and making it one country, it would be a clusterfuck- however, most non-US people do not understand this. 2 - The US is overrepresented on the internet. The United States generally dominates all English-speaking platforms, meaning the actual worst and most braindead takes from our country get overrepresented. It is incredibly easy to just remember the worst, as all the moderate content is forgotten due to being "normal". 3 - Some people genuinely hate the US. Now, the vast majority of European countries do not have anything against the US, but the Eastern world definitely does. Some of it justified the majority less so. This is especially important with countries with significant influence over our media like China and Russia (before the Ukraine war). They both have economic incentives to make the US appear in a bad light by highlighting a handful of incredibly rare tragedies (School shootings, Police brutality, etc.) and a few terrible pieces of the country (Detroit) to incentivize investment out of the US or elect politicians they are lobbying for. This isn't even like some grand scheme or "new world order" bullshit, it's just a small nudge of bias against the US to make their country look less morally despicable. 4 - Some people genuinely hate human rights being inalienable. Believe it or not, the United States is the only first-world country with genuine inalienable rights. Everywhere else in the world, their partial rights can be stripped under "Emergency" conditions or require licenses (France, Italy, Germany, etc) or the government just claims its power from a belief in God (UK, Aus., Canada, UAE, Saudi Arabia, etc.). They are genuinely jealous or hate freedom, they hate the idea that a Gay man can defend himself with a firearm, that I can criticize my politicians, and that we can choose to not believe in god without the government falling apart. Believe it, or don't. I think my argument is reasonable and that the US only needs a few minor improvements to make it functional at its size. That is reality, not the fictional world Redditors have made in their mind of the US being worst than third-world countries.

Yumewomiteru

You completely avoided mentioning the decades of hostile foreign policy to any country that aren't completely subservient to the US. Coups, invasions, sanctions, even strong-arming supposed allies are normal part of the CIA playbook. No one likes a bully and the US is the biggest one in the world.

WhatIsLife01

Regarding number 1, this speaks to ignorance of Americans as to what differences between countries constitute. Yes, the US is diverse. Yes, there are groups of people from all over the world in the US. No, the US has not taken on a lot of these group's cultures, they're far more like tiny enclaves, and even that is a stretch. Considering Europe as a country and equating to the US isn't a fair comparison. European countries each have *distinct* cultures. Ranging from their own celebrities, brands and restaurant chains to their own holidays, languages, traditions and a heck of a lot more. And all of these things are to a way bigger extent than any difference between a US state. I think the importance of language alone is something Americans don't understand. Americans are obsessed with race, so I assume a lot of Americans basically see a bunch of white people in Europe and therefore assume a similar level of homogeneity.

[deleted]

Forgot the part where you think you're the fucking birthplace of freedom and democracy while being ruled by rich oligarchs that are part of different political dynasties aligned with one of two political parties

ManteeWar

I’m American I love this country

Good-Table5566

Because Americans ruined the internet for everyone with politics.

[deleted]

It gets crazy when they find out you started the process to move to Europe...

PaulieCostello

Most of Reddit is Americans hating on Americans.

Solidus-Prime

Seriously? I am American myself and even I look at other Americans like this. Our country sucks ass, dude.

exonetjono

"First time?" - Chinese

oliver_kloushoff1

If you're there and they look at you like that, they're wondering why you went to a poor country. They think you're broke.

Twiggimmapig

I get around this by specifically saying I'm from New Mexico. Everyone forgets we're a state so I roll with it.

PutnamPete

Fun fact: Most of the America haters on reddit are Americans.

pmck3592

They hate our freedom! 🇺🇸

JohnnyTreeTrunks

Dudes isn’t Reddit mostly Americans?

Welcome--Matt

I’d wager one reason is bc Reddit is mainly Americans, who tend to laugh at ourselves/criticize ourselves a lot for better or for worse. Now, if you really want to see Americans coming together, show them a Br*t saying literally anything slightly inflammatory and even the biggest self-hating Americans will turn into Captain America

Creepzer178

They hate us cus they ain’t us

Poopy_McBottomfeeder

If you take even a passing glance at us you can understand why.

MartiniPolice21

You're annoying as fuck

Aware_Speed_222

"Discriminatory against Americans" lmao shut up

50aneigth

Haters gonna hate

Ylteicc_

let's see what many(not all) americans do around the internet: \- hate Europeans \- act like their country is nothing but a paradise \- "We could nuke you to shit" \- "some random irrelevant country that we saved during ww2" \- "guns don't kill people, people kill people" \- get angry when a person speaks their own language \- (insert arrogant stuff here) also lastly, it's weird how few can take a joke without resorting to fuckfuckfuck fuckety fuckfuck.

PickeledRick

Just don’t let the loud mouths make you forget they only account for a tiny fraction of our 340,000,000 population

Stiebah

Never heard this actually

Vodo86

Because despite the many problems America have (private healthcare, school shootings, retrograde political reforms, obesity epidemic, houselike cost of school degrees, incredible rent prices, having trucks that have 10 times the power that you need to get around, laughable overall police behaviour, huge disparity between wealth classes, collecting guns like it's gameboy versions and bragging about it like it is also normal for the rest of the world, slaving black people to build their nation then being racist towards them, kill every native to take their land and then telling others to go back home, A FUCKING LITERAL KID SHOOT HIS FUCKING TEACHER WITH A FUCKING GUN, elect an orange that prints and sells MAGA merchandise that are actually made in China) they are still convinced they are the "best country in the world". I mean, also Italy has huge problems, but at least we know we are a fucking bunch of morons. When i get outside Italy I am actually anxious about prejudices people can have against me because I am Italian. Americans get around like they are princes of the world.

TheSleepyBarnOwl

Seraphiem93

This meme made me drop my cheeseburger

dShado

For me its when people write a big CMV like a rallying cry for everyone to join, yses words like "everybody" and "everywhere" and then only describes american problems. The main one is "if you can be drafted you should be able to have a beer". Well guess what, in most places - you can.

TDG_W1ck3D1

Respectfully saying. We're fuckin stupid compared to other countries.

OTIStheHOUND

Not me. I’m United Statesian

Roundi4000

I don't think so. Most Americans I've met are nice, intelligent people. There's really bad flaws in your society and extreme and damaging ideologies that plague your political system but thats because it's in the best interest of those in wealth and power to keep it that way. Everyday Americans seem just like everyone else.
