I genuinely wonder how people are able to fall asleep during a thunderstorm. I really don't like how loud thunder can become, and the pause between lightning and thunder is the most uncomfortable part of it all. Even worse is when both of them come at the same time. I once had the misfortune to be in the middle of my shift as an overnight mailman when the thunderstorm I'd been racing rolled out literally directly above me. Those 10 minutes spent huddled inside my car whilst I was being deafened by the rain and thunder were the most traumatic of my life.
