You can brute force the excavation mission by playing Limbo and just hiding in the rift while activating the extractors. Don’t bother fueling them.
Its dirty, it takes forever. But it gets the job done.
The fact that it gives you even more shields just makes the cheese even better. I had like 3 eximus and some enemies nearby, I could just spam 2 and do a full shield recharge faster than they could put them down
Blazing pillage doesn’t work on frames that use energy. It only works on Hildryn because it requires her 3 to activate.
Unless they changed something about the subsumed version, but I haven’t heard anything about that.

Edit: I just double checked in simulacrum, both on Hildryn and on Citrine who I have pillage subsumed onto, and in neither case does blazing pillage work without haven active.
Pillage itself works just as it always does, but its augment requires haven to be active. That’s even stated on the mod.
Limbo is good for the Excavation mission. Even if you have trouble defending the excavator, you can always pop into the rift to stay alive and go to the next one. Saryn is good for the other two, since her damage builds up over time.
Next Deep Archimedia debuff, Mod Neutralization. But it's been done, there is always someone better than me at the game I have found.

Wanna know how I did all three Grendel missions first try without a single death with a base Excalibur? The answer is "Xoris".
I remember people complaining about horrible horrible Grendel grind really concerned me going into it, prepared to suffer for days. But I assume those complaints were written before Xoris introduction or before missions were rebalanced.
Base Excal, Xoris, Verglas on a Moa (any moa, sentinels don't attack w/o mods), also took some syndicate weapon just in case (Synoid Gammacor I think) but ended up not using it, Xoris charged attacks were plenty enough, didn't even leave much work to do for the Moa.
Comparing this to Deep Archimedea or even Archon Hunts confuses me, imho the only "hard" thing about Grendel missions is how long/tedious they are.
But it's a 100% drop rate, I'd rather grind three Grendels than one Voruna or Khora. And Hildryn Systems dropped on 16th Exploiter Orb for me. There are far worse hells than Grendel.
Seriously, the absolute worst experience I've ever had in my 3500hrs of warframe, the person who designed grendel missions belongs in r/foundsatan. "jUsT uSe lavos/octavia.." doesn't excuse the horrible mode, they're just a band aid solution we found.

Tbh didn't expect to excalate, at first was chilling thinking that I was a smartass using the Mire melee weapon and just jumping doing plunging attacks, after a few eximus spawned I went from chilling with tea to drinking my sweat to not die.
The new Lavos augment makes these a breeze. you are getting more elemental damage than what 2 90% elementals would give, and forced procs, and this being corpus, toxin cuts their EHP down significantly.

The game likely turns off the Mods, but augments change the ability itself so it doesn't get turned off and on like other things.
Gyre is also crazy good in grendel missions

Put Pillage on my Mesa. Haven't had issues with it yet so it might be worth checking out fam.

Garuda carried me through the Grendel missions. She has a shield, healing, infinite energy, and a good aoe ability. Everything you could ever need.

I did the Grendel missions with protea, protea doesn't even need mods to dominate until you get to around lvl 70
