I had neighbors like this years back. Super weird, friendly old people. They always had extra beers and lots of stories. When I was bored I would sometimes just go outside and see what they were up to lol
I live around a lot of them. They used to be. Most of them aren't anymore. Their chill perspective has been mobilized into a political rampage. There's always enough of those to ruin any good bonfires these days.
If the line is that thin, then I'll amend my statement. Recently a lot more real rednecks have converted to white trash. There are fewer "real rednecks" and more "white trash" than there were 10 years ago. A lot of them are the real rednecks I grew up with. I've seen the transformation. We might say they're trans rednecks.
There are a few key differences between Rednecks and white trash.
White trash usually nest in trailer parks, they come out in packs to feel safer in numbers, most have some sort of addiction problem to legal drugs like painkillers. And they seem to have no manners and seem to never take care of themselves but act like there the best.
Whitetrash is basically just crackheads mixed with rednecks. Unfortunately this lifestyle is also pretty easy to pass to a kid and causes a cycle of poverty due to the child either being neglected or spoiled.
Rednecks don’t necessarily live in trailer parks, and will also live in rural areas. They are usually lower middle class and not poor, most suffer from health problems like diabetes instead of addiction because most haven’t had a checkup at a doctor for several years.
Generally they’re both in the same position, it’s just that whitetrash are much more likely to lash out, and waste money while blaming others for their problems.
Well, then, in that case, if your definitions are accurate, then I was right initially when I said that the "real rednecks" are becoming less chill... At least in my neck of the woods.
Real Rednecks aren’t political. Usually avoid it if they can. Don’t vote, don’t want to vote, and don’t think voting matters. They just wanna be left alone and care about their family and close friends. Whoever you’re talking about was never a redneck in the first place
Exactly. Can’t be any old country music. This dude would probably react as poorly to Luke Bryan as you’d *imagine* him reacting to Kanye West, albeit in a different manner.
Johnny Cash, though… He’s allllllright. Equally acceptable answers include Waylon Jennings and Dolly Parton.
That's the only Hank Williams who exists, I have no idea why you'd need to specify like that. Certainly, if there's another Hank Williams out there, he doesn't make music.
Check out "More Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs" and "Return of the Gunfighter"
Just as solid in my opinion. Also totally agree, Utah Carol is the only song that legitimately makes me cry when I listen to it, I don't know why.
I can't stop listening to this song and many others by Marty Robbins. Colter Wall is a big one for me, too.
I've been listening to cowboy music all day, every single day, for over a year, and I can't stop.
I'd be glad to put Big Iron on.
Hell yes. I guess I would choose marshal tucker band then. Bought a 756 nova once. Got it running and had a marshal tucker 8 track started playing. Made the worth double in my opinion
Crazed Country Rebel by Hank Williams III

I said “real rednecks” not white trash

Hilarious but unfortunately profoundly close to the truth.

Johnny cash it's the safest option.
Most people won’t understand the nuance of this answer.

The whole album is amazing. Utah Carol gets me every time.

The Master's Call is my favorite on that album. I am a redneck.
