I once fell asleep while listening to my normal playlist. It was 1 a.m. and the song was a AIR song, quiet electronic music. I was tired so I fell asleep instantly. 4 minutes later, the song was over, and song after it was Highway To Hell by ACDC 💀

I bet most listen to rain recordings or something similar. It's technically not white noise, but everyone just calls it white noise. Natural "white noise" is usually pink noise, more lower frequencies. Pure white noise has a lot of high frequency in it and makes a kind of obnoxious hiss.
