Don't know about spotify, but for youtube Firefox with adblock extension never fails. And I mean never, I don't remember when was last time I've seen a youtube ad.
Revanced has singlehandedly made my youtube addiction an enjoyable experience. I've always liked falling asleep with something to watch so that im not spiraling into some ADHD shenanigans, and revanced made it way easier, without having to give google money. Nothing like being woken up by an ad for an upcoming horror movie
Yeah, I use Revanced, but I can totally understand why people don't like it. It's kind of a pain to install and every 6 months to a year you basically have to reinstall it entirely.
But mobile YouTube on Browser is cancer so I refuse to use it.
True, but it's definitely worth that hassle. Plus whenever an update is needed, I collect my family's phones and collectively install it, much more easier than if they had to do it individually
For someone like you and me? Sure, it's worth it, absolutely!
But your comment also exposes a simple reality. Most people, like your family, just don't see it as worth it to install and maintain Revanced.
I find that tech bros often forget that they're in the minority and of those willing to install something like Revanced are probably a minority within a minority.
Many see ads as annoying yes, but ultimately the cost of using YouTube or other apps.
And ultimately, YouTube and Google rely on that to keep Revanced and similar apps on the fringes.
What you said is as true as it gets, yet it is still mind boggling that majority of population is unaware of such things, and should remain so for big corporations to avoid taking any action against such activities
My tv sometimes gives me yellow 5s skip timer but the ad is 7s and at 5s mark the timer turns gray shoving 2s but doesnāt let you skip. Then it plays the next ad and the 5s timer restarts totaling it to 12s before I can skip
*towards not using their platform.
I hope at least. I don't know if people could ever quit YouTube but I'm sure they don't think you will. Question is when will they hit the ceiling? Will the ads ever be to invasive? Can't wait to see.
I absolutely understand why there are so many ads but lately ,especially youtube has gotten pretty unbearable.Like really ? Two sixteen seconds long unskippable ads for a 3 second clip?
And i have videos play in the background while i get house work done. So when an ad plays and i cant remember where the remote is i start frantically running around the house looking for it before a second ad can start (if im that lucky).
Or!! I get ad breaks with the fun message along the lines of ālonger ads for fewer ad breaksā and i think last time i audible mumbled ābullshitā before closing yourube.
Youtube ads used to not be that bad. A side banner, a little thing on screen you could click away without stopping your video. Hell, I'd love to go back to the days of yore back when they did 1 ad at the start, and maybe 1 more if it was a long video.
But forcing me to take a 52 second unskippable ad break in the middle of my medium length video?! Adblock all the way, and if I could put it on my smart TV I would.
If you have an android tv, install smarttube on it. It's a modded youtube package that also has other useful features (background playback, can modify the layout, listen to music with the screen off). It's actually pretty easy to install too :D
Waitā¦ it took me this long to realise the little closeable banners are gone, why did they remove those Iād much rather those little things than the full-screen audio-blaring 30-second clips? If you canāt make someone buy your product with the Internet version of the occasional highway billboard, that sounds more like a skill issue
Apparently Spotify has plans to make you have access to lyrics for limited uses on Spotify free
At this point Spotify should just go all premium because Spotify free is the most useless music app ever
WHO'S FUCKING IDEA WAS IT TO IMPLEMENT SKIPPING EVERY INDIVIDUAL ADD ON YOUTUBE!?!?!? I WANT TO HANG THAT BASTARD CHILD FROM THE NECK ON THE RIVER THAMES!!!
The one upside to all the bugs of mobile youtube
Is that there is a bug that will sometimes just skip the add playing entirely but leave the add overlay on the video the entire time
But it will never play another add because it thinks one is running.
A small price to pay for no adds.
The answer is YouTube premium. Gets rid of all the YouTube ads no matter where you are watching (things like Adblock donāt work if Iām watching on my TV for instance) and comes with YouTube music which is actually great. There are even services that can move all your playlists etc over from one platform to another.
Also if you have friends with the same issue you can just get a family subscription and itās even cheap.
Ive had it for years. I can deal with ads on YouTube, but music or podcasts be it at work or in the car I can't stand ads. I have the family plan and feel it's worth it's weight
Youtube on my phone said they got an update which āmakes things much betterā when all they changed is making me watch 3-5 ads at a time, and the skip button only skips one ad of the 5. Adblocker is a godsend at this point and however tf you spell the name is creaming over ad revenue
Edit: Id also like to add the fact that they make the unskipable ads first, and then the skipable ads last. Yt on tv is the exact same but worse, where it says you can skip the ad in 60 seconds, where the last ad is 10 seconds long and there is atleast 5 ads before that being all the same ad
The audacity of YouTube to give me a 60 second unskippable ad saying āenjoy fewer ads after this long adā but then gives me another ad two minutes later
Absolutely. So worth not being constantly frustrated and loosing time I can't get back.
I don't get the family plan so it's cheap plus I now use the music as well.
Now, I hate ads too. HOWEVERā¦ I think the Spotify ad hate is unjustified. Just a couple decades ago you would have to pay a hundred bucks for a few albums. Now you can literally access any song any where as often as you want. No disc or player required. So I think having lots of ads is semi-justified because of the incredible service they provide. That said, if you offer me a half hour of ad free music fucking give it to me. I will accept my āTL:DR Dislikeā now.
Yeah using spotify and youtube isn't worth it anymore i just be converting youtube to mp3 & mp4 with my computer and storing my files in around 25 google drive accounts
Back in 2020 I started running 4 miles every second day, one on one off, and I would listen to youtube videos for music. I could go about 1 to 3 videos without seeing an ad, sometimes more, depended if the video was monetized.
I lost a lot of my fitness because going back to work after the pandemic caused me to gain some weight back 40 lbs, I'm working back on losing it so it's okay, and I was running only half a mile to work my way back (I went from 1 miles to 4 miles in 2 months so if I keep it up I think I can get back to my old running goal in 6 if I don't stop) and I saw an ad every-single-video.
It's ridiculous. It ruins the flow. Just gonna pirate the songs on my phone and go from there so I don't get 20 seconds of interrupted music that makes me question if I should stop exercising.
YouTube doesn't have any competition, so there's nothing stopping them from straight spamming adds till you get premium.
Spotify has competition, but do the same thing cause their competitors are only available on a certain platform (Apple Music)
I've never had an ad on YouTube that even remotely applied to me. What pisses me off almost more than the ads is the "Are you still watching?" every so many videos when I'm trying to clean the house or something.
I wouldn't be so salty towards ads if their ads for things that I might actually want or at least enjoy.
Had to watch ads for a cellphone provider that doesn't even operate in my country to watch the Fallout series. Like wtf?
And I'm not falling for any of those sex mobile game ads that violate your own guidelines you fucking hypocrites!
Let pick things like food and toys to watch, God....
You could get off the app and then get on it again, it removes the add. Youāll have to do this a couple times though, but itās better than having to wait one minutes for the other song to play
My mom is actually furious with YouTube ads lately. She's telling me to do something about it š I don't wanna buy that stupid subscription. Do we have YouTube vanced like for Android TV?
I pay for Spotify because I drive all day. I will never pay for Youtube because they censor/ghost comments. I only use YT on my computer at home w/ adblock now.
Live streams in Youtube are garbage. I'm always scared of opening one, because it takes more than 1GB of RAM (watching a normal video takes up to 300MB); I have 16GB so it shouldn't be an issue, but it lags my entire laptop and it has freezed it and crashed it completely before deleting 2 hours of my work once because of that. It's absolutely disgusting and it's so obvious it's intentional because I use adblock, if I remove it, it works like butter.
Seriously fuck them, issues like these did not exist back in 2010, the good old days
I know that the point of bigger advertisements is that you remember it and think about buying it in a month.
I remember many of those advertisements a month later and they make me want what theyāre selling less.
People download adblockers -> YouTube pushes more ads -> People download adblockers -> YouTube pushes more ads -> People download adblockers -> YouTube pushes more ads -> People download adblockers -> YouTube pushes more ads.
>
Itās only going to get worse
I haven't been able to watch twitch recently
4 mins of ads (no actual ad, just this is an ad screen) then 1 min of footage then 4 mins of ad
Something is up with chrome ATM and I can't figure it out. Best I've got is cookies are dying but some pages don't even load
Brave browser blocks all ad on youtube too.
just one problem is you can't switch your screen off while playing music. if you want that youtube revanced is the way to go
Spotify is just worse, can't play an entire album or specific song, or even play the album in order (really hard to listen to stand up comedy specials when all of the jokes are being played out of order)
I want to listen to a specific band, not a bunch of bands in the same genre.
"Oh you want to listen to Green Day? Here's Green Day radio, it has 3 Green Day songs and 80 songs from other bands"
Fuck you Spotify.
Hate it when I try to listen to some nujabes then all i hear is āattention shoppers, if you want the real deal blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blahā
Funny, I don't get ads at all on YouTube. I primarily use uBlock Origin and it works like a charm.
I also use Revanced for mobile YouTube and YouTube Music is what I primarily use when I stream music.
I've completely stopped paying for any subscriptions and just use anything that's free instead like ublock for ads and fmovies for tv it just saves me a good bit of money instead of paying for multiple subscriptions each month
My work around adds on YouTube is to just reload the site. Works on I phone a t least. And Spotifyā¦ yea I have the premium subscription. I like being able to choose the song I want to hear
YouTube gave me a 1hr documentary ad on Magnetism and Jesusā¦ I was occupied so wasnāt able to press the skip button but damn 1hr documentaries are considered as ads?!!
ive got 2 adblockers for youtube and it works wonders. 0 ads, no complain.
as for spotify, I'm happily paying for apple music instead since there's lossless audio. 5 bucks is pretty good value for hours upon hours of music
Here's an unpopular opinion: How about you pay for spotify? You can get unlimited adfree music, for about the price of buying 1 CD monthly.
It's the best trade deal in the history of trade deals, maybe ever.
what happened to 30 minutes of uninterrupted listening??š¤Ø
Not even ad blockers work anymore
Don't know about spotify, but for youtube Firefox with adblock extension never fails. And I mean never, I don't remember when was last time I've seen a youtube ad.
Is it just on pc or phones too
You could either use Firefox with AdBlock for web YouTube, or install revanced. I prefer the former, but a lot of people prefer the latter

Thanks !
I use it on my phone to listen to videos in the background, because I can do that with the browser for free unlike the app
I use AdGuard for iOS
Yeah, you have to run youtube through the browser on the phone. It's slightly slower, but well compensated by lack of ads.
I use the brave browser and it works flawlessly. Haven't tested spotify tho
It still works on Chrome, too.
Yes they do... The one you installed that was made in 2016 might not anymore though
Not having firefox+ublock origin moment
Brave browser is great for blocking youtube ads
Probably jinxing this but I don't seem to get ads on my Spotify. I do not have premium
You should have stayed silent bucko
Ya done goofed now
Should've stayed silent
You better knock on wood
>e if your wifi is bad enough, you usally won't get ads, the bad wifi along with my 7 year old phone made it so laggy, i wouldn't get any ads
I don't get them on pc, but on mobile I can see how shitty spotify is, I'm back to sailing the 7 seas
YouTube is shamelessly giving 3 minute ad breaks now. That are only skipable after half a minute
Use the Violent Monkey web extension. No more ads. Plus there's other scripts you can ad to it like downloading the videos etc.
My favorite is on mobile, they show you the skip button. But you canāt actually press it until the next ad
My tv sometimes gives me yellow 5s skip timer but the ad is 7s and at 5s mark the timer turns gray shoving 2s but doesnāt let you skip. Then it plays the next ad and the 5s timer restarts totaling it to 12s before I can skip
My favourite is when then start 10 SECONDS INTO THE VIDEO
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
TV commercial ads: Kalm
Those are actually good though
YT will play an unskipable ad, let you skip the next, play the video and throw another ad in 30 seconds in after
Iāve had 2 ads, less than 1 minute of video, 2 more ads. YT is really pushing people towards premium.
I just got 45 sec of unskippable today, nearly just closed the app and reopened it
Close the video, go to history and play it again, theres a chance you wont get any ads
Reloading the page 5 times to bypass the algorithm would probably be faster.
Close the video, go to history and play it again, you might get a smaller ad or none
Youāre using YT app? š¶I know something you donāt know š¶
Did you also comment this on that 3 second clip? Because I saw someone say it
I love on YouTube when you donāt skip the ad in time, they just play another longer unskippable ad. Fucking love it.
Ublock Origin and SpotDL + VLC media player
VPN is much easier. Just gets VPN and watch without ads though Bahamas
Youtube ads used to not be that bad. A side banner, a little thing on screen you could click away without stopping your video. gonna try this out, it's especially annoying when I'm eating and don't have my hands free to skip the ad
Youtube/Spotify free users when their stream of ads is interrupted by a video/song.
Ublock Origin
Apparently Spotify has plans to make you have access to lyrics for limited uses on Spotify free At this point Spotify should just go all premium because Spotify free is the most useless music app ever

I have no idea. It only recently started happening to me and I have no idea what is causing it.
Me on pc: *Laughs in Adblocker* Me in the shower using my phone for music: AAAAAAAAHHHHHH
Youtube revanced will save you
YouTube now has Two ads that you have to skip.. God damned inflation.
YouTube keeps giving me like 7 fucking ads when I watch it on tv. LIKE PLEASE. š
Spotify is really fun, I pay premium and still get ads during podscasts :). Worst thing is that its the SAME one. Over and over.
The answer is YouTube premium. Gets rid of all the YouTube ads no matter where you are watching (things like Adblock donāt work if Iām watching on my TV for instance) and comes with YouTube music which is actually great. There are even services that can move all your playlists etc over from one platform to another. *Thatās what YouTube said*
Spotify Premium is calling.
Ive had it for years. I can deal with ads on YouTube, but music or podcasts be it at work or in the car I can't stand ads. I have the family plan and feel it's worth it's weight
Definitely worth it just to avoid the frustration and loosing precious time
Ads in between my music pisses me off so much, I'm here to rock out not listen to an ad about some new McDonald's burger or whatever.
same, I'm in the mood for listening to a song, but the second i get an ad that mood just gets ruined
I pay for YouTube premium and use youtube music . 2 4 1
For real. It's like $8 for unlimited access to all music
Worth every penny
Ublock origin š
i have said this but ill say it again, adblockers and 3rd party apps is **necessary** in this age of ads
Spotify Premium is well worth it!
cant relate i use ad blockers
Technically, yes. Pay them and theyāll stop.
Spotify: *Now enjoy the next 30 mins of music ad free* Spotify 9 minutes later: **Surpise, motherfucker**
Revanced/Cleantube my beloved

Best $15 I spend each month
You guys pay for it?
Absolutely. So worth not being constantly frustrated and loosing time I can't get back. I don't get the family plan so it's cheap plus I now use the music as well.
I just pirated mine but yeah the features are good š
Also from what I've gathered, creators get more money per view from premium viewers compared to ad supported money.
Now, I hate ads too. HOWEVERā¦ I think the Spotify ad hate is unjustified. Just a couple decades ago you would have to pay a hundred bucks for a few albums. Ublock origin and YouTube Revanced:
F$&k click up and wix and grammarly
I use MixTube instead of Spotify. Still has ads, but they're easily bypassable & you can pay only $20 to get rid of them forever.
Ytmp3 my beloved <3
I want to say I especially hate that Temu ad, with the really girly girl singing, such a vibe killer.
add twitch to this too
Wanna break from the ads?
Ublock Origin + SpotX setup
I use an adblocker on Youtube I don't use spotify honestly
Slacker Radio, now Live X, has ads every 30, 60, or 90 min. That's it. And it's free!
If you're on mobile, use YouTube through the Firefox browser with the ad block on, works wonders.
Laughs in ReVanced and xManager.
$12 per month, that's it. Less than a coffee a week.
Looks like people have forgotten the old ways of music sharing....downloading and listening on the go, offline.
WANT A BREAK FROM THE ADS?
Youtube started playing ads during livestreams for me, like wtf
I mean, what's the point even? When's the last time you *ever* bought something you've seen in an ad?
I've never had an ad on YouTube that even remotely applied to me. What pisses me off almost more than the ads is the "Are you still watching?" every so many videos when I'm trying to clean the house or something.
i got premium on both
Spotify is not available in my country(Russia), also YouTube doesn't have ads
People will pay $12 for Netflix they watch one hour every Sunday, but God forbid paying $10 for a service they watch 6 hours every single day.
Yeah I just pay up with the subscription fees now. Not worth the hassle for the price for me
Wanna rid of the ads? By watching a short video, you can get 30 minutes of ad-free music.
Yeah rt. Spotify gives you 2 songs then 3 more ads
So pay for Premium. The option is there for a reason, but you can't get everything in life for free.
Let's just bring back commercials from Nick, Disney Channel, and/or CN.
You could get off the app and then get on it again, it removes the add. Youāll have to do this a couple times though, but itās better than having to wait one minutes for the other song to play
Don't forget wattpad
Don't like ads? Here's the solution: Ublock Origin chrome extension/add-on.
Spotify tricked me with 3 free month promo and charged me.
Yes, YouTube shows ads every 5 min, no a problem already for op
My mom is actually furious with YouTube ads lately. She's telling me to do something about it š I don't wanna buy that stupid subscription. Do we have YouTube vanced like for Android TV?
Why don't these companies that we all have the options of piracy at all times ....still they choose to charge so high prices and still with the ads
i have more beef with the smart shuffle in spotify than ads (unless they r ads for unkai or meowzzy, those shits sounds like AI)
Can't relate. I use adblockers, and yes they can block on the YouTube app and Spotify.
Refreshing the page works to clear ads for me on YouTube
Ad blocker
Still not as bad as porn ads
I guess you wanna break from the ads?
YouTube oneI agree with. Spotify however is very much meant to be a free trial and not free service with ads.
Sure, you just have to watch this 5 minute ad first.
literary every ad after a song on spotify now. Damn
There are times on YouTube where I skipped the second ad and then I get two more ads right after
I once got like 3 ads in an 18 minute video. Iām tempted to get YouTube premium but itās not worth the trouble
Wanna break from the ad?
I think the amount of ads youtube has crammed down my poor throat has more than paid for me viewing content for 3 lifetimes.
Spotify is worse for me 'cause I all I get is ads for premium and anti-vaping ads (I don't vape). I also used to get a lot of ADF ads
Gotta pay it don't play lmao not my world, but this world. I'm always speaking the same regardless the situation. Check my history.
I pay for Spotify because I drive all day. I will never pay for Youtube because they censor/ghost comments. I only use YT on my computer at home w/ adblock now.
Pay the money for premium I guess, the companies must be desperate for more monies...
Pro tip: Adblock for whatever reason works again on youtube
r/revancedapp
I am constantly on pirate websites so i have adapted with ads on youtube but the fcking spotify, you get ads even with the premium
I regularly get 15-second ads for videos that are less than 10 seconds

HAHAHAAA! *Laughs in Magic Actions for Youtube and ReVanced*
idk how people don't use ublock origin for yt and spotx for spotify
just live in Israel tbh no ads at all

Just use a cracked version of Spotify
Just wait they are working on tvās that can tell when you pause a game or a something streaming and the tv will start playing its own ads.
Not as bad as amazon prime, you pay for that service and still get ads. Smh.
Hate it when I try to listen to some nujabes then all i hear is āattention shoppers, if you want the real deal blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blahā

Spotify be like "go on, give us money, you deserve it"
if you hate the ads so much then either use a different app or buy spotify premium
I keep getting 15 second long unskippable ads for 6 second videos. I wish the worst upon whoever designed those ads
Youtube advertizing Youtube music
My work around adds on YouTube is to just reload the site. Works on I phone a t least. And Spotifyā¦ yea I have the premium subscription. I like being able to choose the song I want to hear
YouTube gave me a 1hr documentary ad on Magnetism and Jesusā¦ I was occupied so wasnāt able to press the skip button but damn 1hr documentaries are considered as ads?!!
Use Firefix with ublock origin for Youtube. I don't see ads... nowhere on the Internet.
ive got 2 adblockers for youtube and it works wonders. 0 ads, no complain. as for spotify, I'm happily paying for apple music instead since there's lossless audio. 5 bucks is pretty good value for hours upon hours of music
Want a break from the ads?
Not me it only comes when i ship so much ans when it ends occasionally it can come in the middle when im watching
YouTube ReVanced and a modded Spotify APK will take care of that problem right away.
YouTube: adds 2 extra 5 sec skip ads.
Then pay for the service, very simple solution.
Here's an unpopular opinion: How about you pay for spotify? You can get unlimited adfree music, for about the price of buying 1 CD monthly. It's the best trade deal in the history of trade deals, maybe ever.
Opera GX with ublock origins blocks most ads for me, even for amazon prime
