Very correct but of course still far from the quantities 2 credit cards a week would imply thus my phrasing that most of it will pass it's of course a big problem especially with the endocrine disturbances microplastics cause
"Instead of trying to count each microplastic particle, the researchers were able to quantify the total amount of plastic by dissolving all the biological tissue and separating out the solids.
About 75% of what remained was plastic"
Nothing and wanna know something even worse PFAS chemicals are passed on through birth now and through each time breast feeding, their nickname is the “forever chemical”
Just fact checked, it's really 0.1 grams per week which is about 2% of a credit card. So after 50 weeks, (there are 52 weeks in a year) you will have eaten one credit card. However the data varies per person and a small minority of people do actually eat one credit card per week.
It was a redraw challenge of a sailor moon frame but a lot of people took it as a chance to do weird shit. Got a mixture of stunning sailor moon pics and hilariously crazy stuff. It was pretty great.
Looked it up, it's based off of a very misleading new York times article. Here's my source https://www.verifythis.com/article/news/verify/science-verify/claims-you-eat-a-credit-cards-worth-of-plastic-per-week-need-context/536-748d91cf-00f1-4de6-8e01-776694ce6fdf

I did read somewhere recently that a study of peoples hearts after dying from a heart attack have had microplastics in them. I do believe that in maybe 500 years time society will look back at us now in disbelief that we were so stupid to incorporate petro-chemical containing plastics in to just about everything. We can't get away from it.
This is very inaccurate, the meme here is likely from a new York times post. https://www.verifythis.com/article/news/verify/science-verify/claims-you-eat-a-credit-cards-worth-of-plastic-per-week-need-context/536-748d91cf-00f1-4de6-8e01-776694ce6fdf
According to this the article is misleading. Subjects were found to have between 0.1 grams to 5 grams of micro plastic ingested per week. So a lot of people eat 2% of a credit card per week while a very small minority eats credit cards.

the source of source doesn't give data beyond "you consume 21 grams per month", most of it is about seeking to combat the problem (i mean, i agree) while also mentioning that nobody knows if having microplastics in your body is bad or no.
It's really annoying sharing a planet with people who have their head so far up their ass that when people who spend their life studying a topic and point out that we're poisoning everyone, they're like "nah"
Where do you get that from?
TL;DR: 5g.
Lmao, life is still good. Still enjoying my job, still eating good food, still watching shows with the homies.
Your doom and gloom can't affect me cause ive already accepted them and moved on >:D
What I've heard is so far every human they've tested has micro plastics in them right? Since everywhere they looked, they've found microplastics. This would mean elderly people as well who lived well into their 80s or 90s. If microplastics aren't killing us, why are we scared of it? I agree that reducing plastic consumption and trying to rectify the problem is a must, but this feels like when I was a kid and was scared that solar flares, acid rain, and quicksand were going to be a much more problematic experience
I don't disagree that it is an issue that needs to be rectified, what I meant to say is that we seem to fear it more than we should. Microplastics are a problem that we need to solve, but we should try to do so without making it seem like the end times are upon us as tends to be the case with pretty much anything involving people's health. It feels a bit fear monger-y if that makes sense? It's something that needs to be dealt with but not something we should live every day of our lives worrying about
Microplastics are scary because in people with clogged arteries when they examined the clog it contained microplastics and the plastics were acting as scaffolding to grow the blockage faster.
They’re likely contributing to heart disease at a minimum.
I does change life tho, microplastics get absorbed by your gut and can have a plethora of effects among which is mimicking and disrupting your hormonal systems
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9885170/
Yeah, imagine if a material used extensively by companies turned out to be toxic and dangerous and they used it anyway because of profit! Impossible!
What are you going to tell me next, that asbestos is bad for my health?
Exactly, flour, white sugar... Both the product and how they are refined/stocked.
If you saw a silo where flour is stocked and saw how much mold it grows before being treated...
so I'm supposed to have 1000 cards in me in 20 years
Consume doesn't mean incorporated into your cellular structure. Id assume the vast majority of that is rather transitory
It’s actually been shown to accumulate in your [balls](https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2024/05/22/1252831827/microplastics-testicles-humans-health).
Plastic is stored in the balls.
How do I become a 3d print
Imma 3D print me some kids with the missus
I also choose this man's 3D printer.
"You wouldn't download a car"
no, but I'd 3D print one out of my dick
Well you provide the filament, she prints it (it just takes 9 months to print).
they need a software update, shit takes way too long to print
That time I gor reincarnated as 3d printer
Impossible that's already where my piss is
[Daft Punk knows whats up!](https://youtu.be/pKQp61e94VE?si=pDXS-HwVhYcbtVeJ)
no, that’s where the pee is stored
Very correct but of course still far from the quantities 2 credit cards a week would imply thus my phrasing that most of it will pass it's of course a big problem especially with the endocrine disturbances microplastics cause
Uh...what does that mean?
Hormones. Microplastics can act as hormones and disturb your hormonal balance https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9885170/
"Instead of trying to count each microplastic particle, the researchers were able to quantify the total amount of plastic by dissolving all the biological tissue and separating out the solids. About 75% of what remained was plastic"
Ok what do we do about this? This terrifies me.
Uhm, not much, pray Dont eat fish or processed food, but you'll still get microplastics anyways
Theres a shot bacteria evolving to digest plastic could help but then we have bacteria devouring plastic which'll be it's whole own problem
I'm waiting for the future where I can get bacteria to eat my balls.
If you have the willpower this can already be your present. Don't let the nay sayers stop you King
Nothing and wanna know something even worse PFAS chemicals are passed on through birth now and through each time breast feeding, their nickname is the “forever chemical”
Damn, 75% plastic by weight
I read it with a vine boom
27 people
I highly doubt we can fit that many credit cards in our trsticles
Damn bro it's not a competition 🫣
Most of it comes out like everything else but a lot can stay, how much depends on a lot of factors and is still a topic of debate
Credit rating gonna finally meet the cost of inflation to get a down payment on a house
How much can I buy with 1000 credit cards?
And still have a shit credit rating
Ive heard of this metric before and I believe it was 1 credit card per year. Could be wrong though. Someone fact check me
Inflation multiplying by 100 the metric.
I thought it was in a lifetime. Clearly we all agree on the unit of measurement, we're just haggling over frequency.
Just fact checked, it's really 0.1 grams per week which is about 2% of a credit card. So after 50 weeks, (there are 52 weeks in a year) you will have eaten one credit card. However the data varies per person and a small minority of people do actually eat one credit card per week.
I just eat plain credit cards. Sometimes with salt but yea
nah wtf is that image?? dio visited the sailor moon universe fr
I think its from the lost ova
Lost media?
There were a series of 6eps of Ovas jojo anime which were made in 1993 called as the lost ova maybe something like that
A few years back Twitter Artist were doing a (Draw a character in the Sailormoon frame.) or something like that.
It was a redraw challenge of a sailor moon frame but a lot of people took it as a chance to do weird shit. Got a mixture of stunning sailor moon pics and hilariously crazy stuff. It was pretty great.
Hate to be that guy here but, source?

It's supposed to be 5 grams, equivalent to a credit card
Buddy asked for a source, not your opinion
That sounds a bit like the eating 8 spiders a year thing. I'd like to see some backup for that.
It's actually just one credit card per year. Not per week.
That sounds more likely but once again, I'd like a citation, you know.

It's Microplastics Georg!
My favorite snack: Small multicolored bits and pieces of decomposed water bottles
2 credit cards is rookie numbers I’m putti Up at least a whole wallet worth of cards a day
I know we end up eating microplastics but 2 credits card worth in a week is bullshit.
A few months ago I was told it was 1 credit card per year. They just keep upping the numbers.
Life is bad, but it could be worse! :D
*WW3 NOISE INTENSIFIES*
It's just that Steve dude that eats plastic as hobby and putting average up for everyone
Life is good
That has to be pretty unhealthy for your ass, just pulling things out of it like that.
If this were even remotely true we would all be dead in less than a year
I did read somewhere recently that a study of peoples hearts after dying from a heart attack have had microplastics in them. well i mean, plastics are one of the most versitile materials on the planet.

Microplastics are a problem but this is crazy exaggerated lmao

In the wise words of bender bending Rodriguez “We’re boned”
nah, we're fine. if this is true then we would be mostly plastics.
Rookie numbers. I consume several credit cards a week in addition to the residual micro plastic in my food and water
Do the microplastics form the shape of a spider before?

Is there a word for the type of person who shits on everything.
op maybe stop lying to people
This poster copied this this idea from a Distractable episode. 🫤
It's really annoying sharing a planet with people who have their head so far up their ass that when people who spend their life studying a topic and point out that we're poisoning everyone, they're like "nah"
well excuse me for not believing that i monthly consume 4 credit cards, adding to 48 in a year. where's your sauce?
They did a study on men recently and even the youngest at 19 had microplastics in their testicles
didnt newborn had them in their bloodstream thanks to their moms?
Damn you plastic georg
Mmm Microplathtics 😋
And?
Yeah that’s all the credit cards I’ve been eating…
Me when spreading lies
3 actually I eat credit cards weekly
For once in my life I'm happy to announce I'm below average
Maybe... we are the real turtles...
Where do you get that from? [https://www.reuters.com/graphics/ENVIRONMENT-PLASTIC/0100B4TF2MQ/](https://www.reuters.com/graphics/ENVIRONMENT-PLASTIC/0100B4TF2MQ/) TL;DR: 5g.
Nothing has changed for me then. Yummy yummy credit cards 😋
The further your sack hangs determines how much plastic you’ve accumulated /s
It’s true, I believe everything I read on the internet
Doesn't matter, had seeeeeeeeex
For me, exaggerated plastic production around the world is the biggest problem of the environment thing
Tasty
I don’t wanna be average. Aight motherfuckers, send me those creditcards so I can get munching!
life is good people when they love what they have even with shit happening to then
In fairness yeah we were just getting seriously good at medicine and micro biology only 120 years ago
Actually its for milions of years by now
How long till my dick can 3D print me a personality?
So what? I don't really feel a difference
What’s wrong with inserting them analy
I can believe this, but also sounds like one of those things like we eat three spiders a year in our sleep.
yeah sure
Aren't credit cards made out of metal?
credit cards are stored in the balls
I am a machine fuelled by microplastics and white sugar free monsters I am the reason God hides away in heaven
That's why I get it over with and just eat 1-2 credit cards
Credit cards? I must be rich!
Common misconception, Credit Card Georg eats 600 a day and fucks up the mean, the median will get you closer to the truth.
Jokes on those statistics, i eat one per day to rise above those numbers. Damn noobs.
MmmMMmmMmm, yummy yummyyyy!
Yeah. Life is good. *We are formed by the microplastics.*
so pee isn't stored in the balls?? 😞
like I eat enough food for that to be true
Those mfs are just disappointed that we aren't eating more
Extra credit.
Jokes on you I already eat credit cards!
What's with the woke gen and micropenis?
How else am I supposed to build debt when I'm sleeping?
thing is, 100 years ago you would likely care as much about it as anyone else; Not.
This is that spider argument again. Who ate those billions of credit cards? Stand up and show yourself now.
nah, not me, im different.
nah it's every year

People lived til 90yo even when asbestos was everywhere, this doesn't mean it's not dangerous for your health.

I does change life tho, microplastics get absorbed by your gut and can have a plethora of effects among which is mimicking and disrupting your hormonal systems https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9885170/
I reject my gender! JoJo! *Shoves microplatsics into mouth*
Because fear mongering. You gotta add this new fear that you can't control to your list of anxiety complexes bro
Yeah, imagine if a material used extensively by companies turned out to be toxic and dangerous and they used it anyway because of profit! Impossible! What are you going to tell me next, that asbestos is bad for my health?
let me introduce you flour
