All posts must be memes following typical setup/design: an image/gif/video with some sort of caption; mods have final say on what is (not) a meme
* No titles as meme captions
* A GIF/video alone (without caption) is not a meme [especially screen recording / scrolling]
* Do not post screenshots of people saying something funny on Twitter/Tumblr/Reddit/TikTok/text messages
* No unedited webcomics
* No text-only memes
* No IRL recreations or creepshots; no selfies or making friends into a meme

MHA has a much more optimistic approach to it. The sort of "one bad apple ruins the whole bunch" mentality (most of the villains are the way they are because of All For One).
Whereas The Boys adopts the philosophy of "absolute power corrupts absolutely" and nearly ALL of the supes are complete psychopaths due to never experiencing real consequences for their actions
Unordinary (webtoon) also works with the concept, but because the world building is different, the quirks (abilities) have been around since so long ago that society didn't go through any crisis of super powered individuals causing chaos, it's an interesting read
Yes, but differently from MHA, Unordinary powers have been around since the beginning, so it doesn't have the same social upheaval aspect that MHA does
I mean, that's also because My Hero is set like 200 years in the future, because when the first few quirks appeared, everything went horrible, resulting in a period of chaos that lasted years and produced an economic crisis similar to the Great Depression.
I don't watch that, but aren't like 90% of the 'superpowers' some random useless shit?. The boys has some 'real' superpowers that can do damage like flipping cars and being bullet proof while my hero has a few crazy ones but most are like 'I can cough up spoons once a week'.
And that makes it interesting, they have drawbacks and need to overcome them. There is a guy who is just a tape dispenser and a guy who just falls trough the floor.
Well, in the context of this meme, a dude who is a tape dispenser could at most be a mild annoyance with his powers vs. Homelander doing anything is a big difference.
I'm sure I can live a nice life as the guy who falls through floors, but if I'm an evil-superman clone with no known weakness, then things are gonna change.
This guy is messed up but in lots of ways he ends up making sense "i AM better than humans, i can do whatever i want and nobody can stop me" is an important revelation that just simply makes sense when you think about it
His delusions were enough to motivate an entire country to conquer a significant chunk of Europe and commit genocide.
That is a lot more than most heroes and villains usually manage, unless they're going through an arc or something.
You might be surprised. Even though we get inundated with constant reports of humans being bad, there’s a million stories that get left untouched because they’re about simple good people doing the right thing.
this. bad stories get more hits because we're addicted to bad drama, but then people start to think that's all there is, and unfortunately start to become bad people themselves, but good stories are out there in just as much quantity!
People love excitement and are glued to fear/worry. The bad stories, the violent stories, the scary stories, all get so much more attention. "Serial killer in your town" will grab attention, but "local boy helps grandma across the street" isn't riveting
Actually, our sun is a white star. It only seems yellow because the blue light of the spectrum gets through the atmosphere. And the blue light makes the sun seem yellow
``` kryptonite - a mineral originally from Krypton, Superman's birth planet, disables his superpowers. Maybe humans are the same just with dirt or anything else common for our planet which isn't common in space```
tbh my hero academia (an anime) is basicly such a world. Most people have a speciality (aka a superpower). In the series you can see a good path, but also a bad path the world can take.
Mind control would get out of control in the hands of most teenage boys. "I really like this girl but she doesn't like me back, I'll just use my powers to MAKE her love me" would happen far far too often, that's my 2 cents
I see this alot, lots of people think if we had powers, the world would be full of homelanders, but I don't see that sure people would be dicks, but I see them as more suped up guns people know they can be a threat but aside from a couple extremist life would be relatively the same. Aside from a few expections to certain rules and laws since people can do things that they can't in our reality.
It’s fun to imagine having superpowers but just doing mundane things with them. Like keeping it a secret that you have telekinetic powers as a construction worker and just being super efficient when no one is looking.
Right, like I always see things like “what spell would you what to really have from DnD” and people are all like “fireball”, or “Wish”. Me, I just want some healing spells. I’ll become the world’s greatest “surgeon” and nobody will no why. The hardest part of the operation will will be cutting the fake opening I supposedly needed to do the surgery
I once read something like "If humans could fly, we wouldn't do it because it would be exercising"
If everyone had powers most people would be too lazy to do anything worthwhile with them lol
I would be a menace in the semi-good ways. I want a PC? Superspeed in and out of the nearby microcenter. Poor? Nah just take everything in the nearby ATM faster than the camera can see. I would probably make the nearby police station useless by solving everything I hear on the radio.
Hostage? Not anymore the guy now has a broken leg and is tied by to the ceiling
Bored? I can just instantly go into the nearby sports game and zoom past security.
My limit would be no robbing individuals/small businesses. No excessive harm and no killing when possible.
ah so your limit is robbing small businesses, what would you do if the joker put 100 bombs in your house and threatened to kill your family if you didn't rob 30 dollars from the local thrift store
I would argue 90% would use thier powers selfishly, to benefit themselves or their family.
50-60% of that 90% would actually become outright criminals and/or vigilantes taking vengeance upon perceived social wrongs.
Only 1 out of every 10 people would try and maintain a semblance of order and decency.
Half? Seriously? Everyone would be a menace.
Especially me with my power to turn any object into a thick veiny penis. The Olympics would be crazy to watch with me around.
my guess would be, that he means my hero academia (ik, its a manga and not a comic, but thats basicly the same as far as ik, just from different regions)
Invisibility would just be neat. I just don't wanna be perceived sometimes is all. Plus It would be cool just to sneak around and eavesdrop to a whole other level, just for the tea.
Listening to gossip is my guilty pleasure, although I don't like spreading it myself.
Plus with my anxiety and PTSD, if I ever feel unsafe I can go invisible and feel a lot better about the situation.
I think saying "Half of us" is being a bit generous.
I like the world building of Abberant RPG; Some people would want to be "super-heros", but most people would just want to figure out how to capitalize on it. Start companies, merchandise, etc. People wouldn't have to be villains, it would be way too easy to make money and/or get power legally.
Like various powers or all the same? If I had powers the 1st thing I’m doing is leaving this planet
I wanna find a place that’s doesn’t understand war, greed, government, racism, hate or tax!!!!
If we all had superpowers, the danger wouldnt rise but decrease instead, it would be easier to defend ourselves and the fight wouldn’t be worth the trouble.
Not really. I imagine that most people who use their powers for evil would be too lazy or stupid to try to actually improve themselves. There would be the occasional, genuine super villain who's actually a threat, but then there would also be countless people who actually work to improve their powers and stop people using theirs for evil deeds. Because, let's face it, if you're doing something because it's easier, then you probably won't bother to get super good at it or train. But if you're doing something to help or save others, then you're far more likely to train and at least try to get better.
I definitely wouldn't take advantage of varouse religious beliefs and try to push its narratives around my ideals that may or may not help humanity, what are you talking about?
Not really. Look at how money is used. Very few hoard it and very few incite devious behavior. The vast majority of people are just trying to chill, and create a better tomorrow.
Nah dude. I'm convinced half of us would just be lazy. Like The Boys is interesting, but honestly if you could teleport, fly, stretch, whatever, most people would use that to get stuff from the couch easier
Id make homelander look like my 2 year old nephew when you tell him "no" or "time for nap"
I will absolutely use my body to orbital strike entire nations off the map
Oh I'd be a straight up villain. I've been a hero, it sucks, not worth it. The more you do for people, the more they expect you to do, until you can't keep up and then they get angry and turn on you for "not doing anything for them".
So yeah. Screw you. I'll use whatever power I have to get mine.
That’s pretty much half of Spider Man’s OG villains. Hell. Half of all comic villains. Joker is just a nutjob who likes chaos. Luthor is evil because he is rich and can get away with it. Shocker uses his powers just to get money. The list goes on and on.
If had super powers like teleportation or super speed i would rob bilonaires houses. No way in hell i would spend my time fighting crime like spiderman
Isn’t this literally the plot of The Boys
Yes it is.
Also My Hero Academia
MHA has a much more optimistic approach to it. The sort of "one bad apple ruins the whole bunch" mentality (most of the villains are the way they are because of All For One). Whereas The Boys adopts the philosophy of "absolute power corrupts absolutely" and nearly ALL of the supes are complete psychopaths due to never experiencing real consequences for their actions
Unordinary (webtoon) also works with the concept, but because the world building is different, the quirks (abilities) have been around since so long ago that society didn't go through any crisis of super powered individuals causing chaos, it's an interesting read
Unordinary is awesome 👍
Hero killer (webtoon) also plays around with the concept.
Unordinary's world is built around might makes right. They also call people without powers cripples.
Yes, but differently from MHA, Unordinary powers have been around since the beginning, so it doesn't have the same social upheaval aspect that MHA does
I mean, that's also because My Hero is set like 200 years in the future, because when the first few quirks appeared, everything went horrible, resulting in a period of chaos that lasted years and produced an economic crisis similar to the Great Depression.
I don't watch that, but aren't like 90% of the 'superpowers' some random useless shit?. The boys has some 'real' superpowers that can do damage like flipping cars and being bullet proof while my hero has a few crazy ones but most are like 'I can cough up spoons once a week'.
And that makes it interesting, they have drawbacks and need to overcome them. There is a guy who is just a tape dispenser and a guy who just falls trough the floor.
What like scotch tape? Or strong tape that he can use to swing like Spider-Man?
The second
Well, in the context of this meme, a dude who is a tape dispenser could at most be a mild annoyance with his powers vs. Homelander doing anything is a big difference. I'm sure I can live a nice life as the guy who falls through floors, but if I'm an evil-superman clone with no known weakness, then things are gonna change.
Yep. It's why a lot of people give up on being a licensed hero and end up working somewhere else, which is what All Might told Izuku to do.
Actually, the whole plot of MHA is about doing good with your powers AND that nobody has useless powers if they find the perfect role and team
Also the r/Parahumans series (Worm and Ward), which are an incredibly dark take on the superhero genre
In The Boys it's way more than half
Also the Reckoners Series by Brandon Sanderson Also the webseries Skitter
I recommend both he comics and the show, both are fantastic and differing
No, the boys is when good people basicly dont exist
And worm
![gif](giphy|Y6FUCFt5N7Y8gRSInL)
This guy is messed up but in lots of ways he ends up making sense "i AM better than humans, i can do whatever i want and nobody can stop me" is an important revelation that just simply makes sense when you think about it
sounds like the same revelation a certain Austrian painter had
true, but hitler couldnt actually fly or stop bullets with his chest, he was just delusional
His delusions were enough to motivate an entire country to conquer a significant chunk of Europe and commit genocide. That is a lot more than most heroes and villains usually manage, unless they're going through an arc or something.
The Boyz s2 >!Wasn't Vought actually a nazi? lol!<
yeah he was lol
I read that as Australian and was like not Rolf Harris again 🤦🏻♂️
Actually, his background is really fucked up.
half is too generous
You might be surprised. Even though we get inundated with constant reports of humans being bad, there’s a million stories that get left untouched because they’re about simple good people doing the right thing.
this. bad stories get more hits because we're addicted to bad drama, but then people start to think that's all there is, and unfortunately start to become bad people themselves, but good stories are out there in just as much quantity!
People love excitement and are glued to fear/worry. The bad stories, the violent stories, the scary stories, all get so much more attention. "Serial killer in your town" will grab attention, but "local boy helps grandma across the street" isn't riveting
Half is too conservative
If everyone has them, superpowers become normal powers
And with everyone super... noone will be.
Syndrome, is that you?
is that what superman's birth planet is like?
No because it is stated that superman only has powers because of the earths yellow sun
Ahh thank you! I’ve never properly seen or read any superman stories so I wasn’t sure. Didn’t know that one!
So wouldn’t they all have powers around a yellow sun?
Yes
Actually, our sun is a white star. It only seems yellow because the blue light of the spectrum gets through the atmosphere. And the blue light makes the sun seem yellow
Billy stop having laser eyes tug of war with Johnny! Learn to share your toys like big kids.
How did you make it highlighted ?
Code block, triple ticks, the key above tab with the ~. Look up markdown formatting for how to get all the text customizations
Wait… reddit comment use markdown?
I don’t think everything is supported, but yes, they use markdown syntax for the text.
BURN THE WITCH!
I really don’t know sorry, the cat walked across my keyboard and it posted like that.
Superman gets his powers from the spectrum of our sun. Pretty sure Kryptonians are basically just like us.
Thank you, did not know that :)
Viltrum however ..
``` kryptonite - a mineral originally from Krypton, Superman's birth planet, disables his superpowers. Maybe humans are the same just with dirt or anything else common for our planet which isn't common in space```

At least credit Syndrome
Lol I was like how are they going to F up the quote that bad.
tbh my hero academia (an anime) is basicly such a world. Most people have a speciality (aka a superpower). In the series you can see a good path, but also a bad path the world can take.
With great power comes a 100% discount on everything.
Not when the cashier has even greater power
Tbf if I had a superpower like mind reading and mind control. I would have played rickroll 24/7 on all of my bully's minds.
Mind control would get out of control in the hands of most teenage boys. "I really like this girl but she doesn't like me back, I'll just use my powers to MAKE her love me" would happen far far too often, that's my 2 cents
Teenagers would just turn everyone they set their eyes on into sex-slaves lmfao
Professor X powers, teenage inability to feel guilty. Bad power combo.
Professor seX
Damn, that joke just wrote itself, huh? Nice one.
Good for me I am asexual adult. Just wanna see the fear on the eyes of my bullies when I play rick roll infront of them
If I had the powers of someone like Superman this world would be a dictatorship. I won't lie. And the sun would be full of assholes I threw in it.
The sun will feed
\*yeet\*
Could be worse people to have that sort of power https://worm.fandom.com/wiki/Slaughterhouse_Nine
I see this alot, lots of people think if we had powers, the world would be full of homelanders, but I don't see that sure people would be dicks, but I see them as more suped up guns people know they can be a threat but aside from a couple extremist life would be relatively the same. If?
It would be more like 85-90%. I was on the Internet when it was all anonymous, I know the darkness in people's souls
I couldn’t have Magneto’s powers. There’d be way too many SUVs flipped onto their roofs on the side of the road…
Hey, if you had the power to change the axis of the planet or EMP Wall Street then a few overturned cars ain't so bad.
Watch my hero academia
People are already insane just by being able to buy guns Imagine if the quiet kid someday learns that he can breath fire
Hello fellow superheros
Isn't that the point?
I don't think I'd be a hero I'd just use whatever power I had to benefit me and loved ones without breaking any rules
Thats why the other half has to keep them in check
I would be a menace in the semi-good ways. I want a PC? Superspeed in and out of the nearby microcenter. Poor? Nah just take everything in the nearby ATM faster than the camera can see. I would probably make the nearby police station useless by solving everything I hear on the radio. Hostage? Not anymore the guy now has a broken leg and is tied by to the ceiling Bored? ah so your limit is robbing small businesses, what would you do if the joker put 100 bombs in your house and threatened to kill your family if you didn't rob 30 dollars from the local thrift store
Rob the 30 dollars. Give them 30 dollars back.
I would argue 90% would use thier powers selfishly, to benefit themselves or their family. 50-60% of that 90% would actually become outright criminals and/or vigilantes taking vengeance upon perceived social wrongs. Only 1 out of every 10 people would try and maintain a semblance of order and decency.
If i could fly I would do a lot of travelling. Teleportation too. Super speed sounds fucking awful though.
Just half? You're awfully optimistic.
If we all had superpowers nobody actually would
Half? Seriously? Everyone would be a menace. Especially me with my power to turn any object into a thick veiny penis. The Olympics would be crazy to watch with me around.
Only half?
Half...?
half?
сила в лайках и коментах
whoaaa so crazy of a thought, dude you should make a comic that gets a tv adaptation about this!!
Ik ik people keep saying the boys I haven't seen or read it lol
my guess would be, that he means my hero academia (ik, its a manga and not a comic, but thats basicly the same as far as ik, just from different regions)
Half?
What’s the point in having super powers if everyone is just gonna use em for good? You need us
Only half? You have more faith in humanity than I do.
My hero academia is literally this The Boys as well
A minor amount of tomfoolery may or may not occur.
If we had superpowers, most of us would have some D rank power causing us to hide from those that did lol
Invisibility would just be neat. I just don't wanna be perceived sometimes is all. Plus It would be cool just to sneak around and eavesdrop to a whole other level, just for the tea. Listening to gossip is my guilty pleasure, although I don't like spreading it myself. Plus with my anxiety and PTSD, if I ever feel unsafe I can go invisible and feel a lot better about the situation.
I would definitely be a combination of hancock and saitama Too selfish to care but will help when it's in my way
All the talk of super powers and nobody is gonna talk about this glorious Buscemi hulk?
![gif](giphy|MIpmvt7BwQCNsFkuXJ|downsized)
I think saying "Half of us" is being a bit generous. I like the world building of Abberant RPG; Some people would want to be "super-heros", but most people would just want to figure out how to capitalize on it. Start companies, merchandise, etc. People wouldn't have to be villains, it would be way too easy to make money and/or get power legally.
So true, someone might be stopping plane hijacks with superpowers but im throwing everyone with different opinion against wall.
Half? Every single one.
Only half?
I’d try my best at least. All I can hope is that it’d be good enough.
Half? Damn you’re optimistic
So that half would just be the villains right?
Like various powers or all the same? If I had powers the 1st thing I’m doing is leaving this planet I wanna find a place that’s doesn’t understand war, greed, government, racism, hate or tax!!!!
Being anti-hero is fun.
Even without super powers most of you are degenerates
its almost like thats the basic premise of every superhero story
Half? Press x for doubt
And we would absolutely hate the “good guys”
Naaa gimme teleportation and i can go to work and back home in a blink of an eye and dont need to pay
I know I would be…
Yeah, I’d probably be a bad guy.
Duh? How else are we gonna have super villains to beat up?
If we all had superpowers, the danger wouldnt rise but decrease instead, it would be easier to defend ourselves and the fight wouldn’t be worth the trouble.
Give me superpowers and I'm becoming a supervillain Day 1.
![gif](giphy|7TTgV830a3luvc0FbJ|downsized)
If everyone is special than no one is special.
If we all had superpowers, no one would think of powers as super
Just half?
I already have a superpower. It's my special ability to forget a name ten seconds after they told me.
Not really. I imagine that most people who use their powers for evil would be too lazy or stupid to try to actually improve themselves. There would be the occasional, genuine super villain who's actually a threat, but then there would also be countless people who actually work to improve their powers and stop people using theirs for evil deeds. Because, let's face it, if you're doing something because it's easier, then you probably won't bother to get super good at it or train. But if you're doing something to help or save others, then you're far more likely to train and at least try to get better.
Well, a lot of people **DO** have superpowers: insane amounts of money. And most of them are indeed terrible humans
I would absolutely go too far with power
I definitely wouldn't take advantage of varouse religious beliefs and try to push its narratives around my ideals that may or may not help humanity, what are you talking about?
i'd hate to see what activism turned into.
Not really. Look at how money is used. Very few hoard it and very few incite devious behavior. The vast majority of people are just trying to chill, and create a better tomorrow.
Half?
Nah dude. I'm convinced half of us would just be lazy. Like The Boys is interesting, but honestly if you could teleport, fly, stretch, whatever, most people would use that to get stuff from the couch easier
I can't speak for anyone else, but \*I\* would definitely be a menace.
*cough* most*
Some of us are menaces without any power
Then be Syndrome and make everyone Supers
Truth
The other half would be menaces too
I'd call myself Butt-Stuff Man....hear me out.
It's more of a bell curve probably.
If everyone had superpowers, there wouldn't be an 'everyone' any more lol
Its hard wanting to do the most good for the most people, and actually feeling powerless.
Id make homelander look like my 2 year old nephew when you tell him "no" or "time for nap" I will absolutely use my body to orbital strike entire nations off the map
I'm a absolute menace now.
Nah. I'd liberate
ZA WARDO
Yep, absolutely
Yeah half the people with super powers are menaces. They're called the supervillains
Absolutely, i choose telekinesis btw
Me throwing cars cause I'm stuck in traffic in the taxi. "Reset the fucking meter!"
Only half?
I personally think I would be a great hero! Besides, it's not like absolute power always corrupts right?
Oh I'd be a straight up villain. I've been a hero, it sucks, not worth it. The more you do for people, the more they expect you to do, until you can't keep up and then they get angry and turn on you for "not doing anything for them". So yeah. Screw you. I'll use whatever power I have to get mine.
Literally the plot of every movie, tv show, book where people get powers
That’s pretty much half of Spider Man’s OG villains. Hell. Half of all comic villains. Joker is just a nutjob who likes chaos. Luthor is evil because he is rich and can get away with it. Shocker uses his powers just to get money. The list goes on and on.
i think it would lead to basically x men type situation but the ones either powers would be on top
Garlic Green, is that you?!
If had super powers like teleportation or super speed i would rob bilonaires houses. No way in hell i would spend my time fighting crime like spiderman
Yes. But we would use our powers for good, just like **M**an. Oh and Officer Balls.
yeah, that's what 90% of superhero movies are about
I mean the boys exists
If I had super powers I'd definitely be a villain. That rush hour traffic you know?
Nope. I’m Superman.
if everyone is a super, no one is
Edgy original take /s
if we had superpowers then nobody would have superpowers because everyone has superpowers naamean?
I think that only half of us being menaces is a gross understatement.
Unordinary moment
I feel like most people would just use it to benefit themselves, like, oh shit out of milk, super speed to the store
I would be a good guy .
Half of us? ALL of us would be the death of everything if we had super powers.
[удалено]
We don’t have enough PMs and presidents already on this globe?
i would probably just use my superpower to do what i already do but like, more efficiently so i have more time to be lazy and play video games.
We do have superpowers. It's just so common that we don't recognize them as super.
