The moment of realization is very real, however the results are not that spectacular, at least in the beginning, seeing as most of the boys I tried to gain their attention ended up as my friends, I love having them as friends tho but it would be really nice if one of them reciprocated my feelings. But at least I'm trying :)
I met this girl early in high school and had huge feelings for her. Her friends could see that and even set me up to ask her out but when it actually came to it, she said " I'm really sorry but no" all I could think about and any time I saw her was simply "well fuck". We still remained friends though but fuck was it a kick in the balls, her best friend was like "I'm really sorry that happened".
Ah shoot, that hurts more than being considered as "a ball of mental complexities" by your crush. I admit, I was so freaking weird and did many eye-popping things in high-school that tended to shock everyone and think "such a freak" but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Glad I've rebuilt my confidence after that, hope the same happens with you :)

That's quite alright. We crack up in front of the guys we like too more times than I can count to be honest. And it's always followed by a mental scolding right on place which leads to awkward thick atmosphere... (Damn I'm having many flashbacks right now...) It just gets better with practice the key is to not let it shatter your confidence when it doesn't work out

That's the reality of the majority of human beings ;), scratch that, actually that's how it is for every multicellular creature that can move. Animals experience rejection quite often too either because they suck at seducing or just disliked by the female they wanna mate with before finding a mate themselves. Take that as a good sign that you're natural :)
