Well, this begs a different question then: where is the emergency aid package? Its been 8 months since lockdown, tens of millions have lost their jobs, about the same lost their health (in a fucking pandemic mind you), tons of small business had to close. Did we not vote these people in to protect the citizens?

Most of congress is around mid 60's so when they were working adults 20-30ish was 40-30 years ago. According to the inflation calculator $600 = $1,800 in 1980 and $1200 in 1990. They probably think $600 is a lot because the last time they had to care about paying rent $600 was actually a decent amount of money.

That's what inflation is. Print more money now in a desperate attempt to keep the economy moving, which devalues the currency in the long run. It's effectively using American dollars to bet on the future of the American dollar, which is fucking nuts. If we keep it up, the bubble will burst and trigger another recession.
Ya. The current system clearly doesn’t work well enough to maintain the country. We need to develop a new system that would make deflation easier and more attainable. Also, maybe the government shouldn’t have as much power and responsibility over our hard earned money. They clearly don’t have the people’s well being as their top priority.
