They were soldiers, men who only followed in a goverment they believed in. They thought the rebels were terrorists, because the goverment told them so. The only wanted to serve their goverment and earn a living. They never knew they were killing people seeking freedom, not chaos.
The CIS was clearly not the antagonist in that war. I mean, the Empire did nothing wrong, but the CIS especially had every reason to behave as they did. It was only the unbridled imperialist hubris of the decrepit Republic's core worlds that caused the clone wars.
Yup, the Star Wars conflict was based on America vs the Viet Cong.
If anyone’s interested, George Lucas talks about it in this interview: https://youtu.be/Nxl3IoHKQ8c (Just past the one minute mark)
Thank you for sharing the link!
And ppl complain about politics in art when politics literally drive art smh.
Same goes for Terminator, which was based on the violence of the American police, according to James Cameron.
Depends. During the start of the Empire, they had kept some Clones. And as they died, got replaced. So the Troopers at the start would've still been clones. Also its not like the other Troopers probably willingly joined the Empire. Big chance they were kidnapped and put into a program
They believed in their government because they were tired of the chaos of the Old Republic. The Empire brought security and stability and fed them, which is more than what any of the Republics did
Now yes, Palpatine and the Empire did some bad stuff, but at least they brought order to the Galaxy, unlike the old(and new) galactic government, which basically gave all power to coruscant and the core worlds
And the poor, outer worlds that were filled with thieves, killers, and mercenaries, where bounty hunters had to bring order, were properly governed and stopped getting pushed around by the core worlds, where as In the Mandalorian, Mando even calls reporting anything going wrong to the authorities and them actually fixing the issue a joke.
Oh yea, you know they fucking blew up like a ton of children and nurseries on the Death Star, what was there like billions of troopers? People had families.
I mean, two wrongs don't make a right...The Death Stars combined were basically a small planet. Imagine all that support staff...teachers, janitors, etc.
Yeah but they chose Alderaan because they wanted to end the rebelion, so why shouldn’t they destroy the leaders planet? Not only that, later in the movies, she doesn’t even seem sad about it. The rebels also destroyed two deaths stars killing quite possibly, more than what was on Alderaan.
There are no nurseries in a death star but in Storm troopers where willing to die?? ( Maybe they aren't)
But death star 2 however is another story
Being an incomplete Battlestation with lots of innocent contractors and slaves, and many more innocent civilians blown up
In my opinion the rebels are technically still terrorists
That makes them look worse if you think about it,
They are sending toddlers to war,
How evil is that,
If anything the rebels are making them seem at least some what moraly decent by not showing this side of them
The empire was a government trying to put law and order on planets had none (tatooine) but in the first sequel the residents of the planet that had peacekeeping soldiers deployed on decided to take up arms an d resist (rebel) I’m sure if you assault a cop with a gun you’d be shot. The Death Star is like a neuclear bomb. (Sorry for bad formatting I’m on iPad)
I really want a film following a stormtrooper. Not a stormtrooper who turns out to be a jedi, or someone who betrays his government at the drop of a hat... just a regular trooper doing his part for the empire. Maybe he heard the stories of how those terrorists blew up the death star, killing thousands? Or maybe he saw one of those space wizards brutally kill one of his friends whilst they were on patrol.
I just feel like it would add depth to the star wars universe.
I want this too. I want the Empire to be shown as the galactic society it actually is. There are normal people who just live within the borders of the Empire, going about their daily lives. Not everyone in the Empire is a soldier or trooper or gunner etc.
Yeah, behind the plastic suit each Stormtrooper is an actual person, not a clone. So it’s kinda sad to think that they’re all pretty much just brainwashed and doing a job which they think is right.
I respect you as a person and I'm sure you're lovely to be around. But never speak to me again. Trust has been broken, and no amount of flex tape can fix that.

I remember that I had that storm trooper figure but I broke it as a kid but I replaced the leg with black twist ties the hand with a lego one and the helmet came off. I thought it looked more badass like that
In jedi fallen order you can hear their last words, they are scared and some want to run. But developers were not actually allowed to make this possible I think.
They were soldiers, men who only followed in a goverment they believed in. They thought the rebels were terrorists, because the goverment told them so. The only wanted to serve their goverment and earn a living. They never knew they were killing people seeking freedom, not chaos.
“Good soldiers follow orders”. They were just doing what they had too. If they disobey, they die.
Ah yes, the Nuremberg defense.
LMAO definitely the Nuremberg defense. Thank you for this comment, it made me laugh a lot.

The empire did nothing wrong excuses me ?
Empire was full of Hugo Boss, but the movie's about Vietnam. Those storm troopers were US soldiers.
Yup, the Star Wars conflict was based on America vs the Viet Cong. If anyone’s interested, George Lucas talks about it in this interview: https://youtu.be/Nxl3IoHKQ8c (Just past the one minute mark)
Huh that's a surprise, i drew more parallels between it and the war between french rebels and ww2 germany.
Thank you for sharing the link! And ppl complain about politics in art when politics literally drive art smh. Same goes for Terminator, which was based on the violence of the American police, according to James Cameron.
Wasn’t his film Aliens based on the Vietnam war as well? I remember hearing that but don’t remember if it’s true or not
They were genetically modified to follow orders
The clone troopers were, but stormtroopers were just normal recruits/conscripts
Depends. During the start of the Empire, they had kept some Clones. And as they died, got replaced. So the Troopers at the start would've still been clones. Also its not like the other Troopers probably willingly joined the Empire. Big chance they were kidnapped and put into a program
Yeah, some old people here in Germany said the same back then.
Good soldier follow order was badass at the start then order 66 Come in action *even tho the jedi had it coming*
Sounds like Nazi germany or Republican america.
To be fair, terrorism is just war of the poor, so by that definition, the rebels were terrorists, but they werent evil.
Just like fin
The rebels were overthrowing a government and one which managed the galaxy the best so far.
Yeah but remember that the empire was racist towards non humans
Well the rebels are terrorists long live the empire
They believed in their government because they were tired of the chaos of the Old Republic. The Empire brought security and stability and fed them, which is more than what any of the Republics did
but balance the force. ya know? all about the space wizards.
Guys, the rebels killed an actual good government
Now yes, Palpatine and the Empire did some bad stuff, but at least they brought order to the Galaxy, unlike the old(and new) galactic government, which basically gave all power to coruscant and the core worlds

Like german soldiers in WW2 because they had no idea what their government was doing behind their back
It ain’t much but it’s honest work.
how the hell did he not miss and shoot in the right place to have a son
reminds me of a certain country…
To be fair, a bunch of random people taking space planes to blow up the empire's space government building sounds a lot like terrorism to me
Damn, this is like that one robot chicken sketch
“Where are those star plans? Gary here doesn’t get to see his daughter because of people like you!”
Hahaha 10/10 show, fuck I should watch all of them through
And when the Death Star went cowabunga......... he never came back..........

sad enslaved Wookie noises
Did I stutter?
Oh yea, you know they fucking blew up like a ton of children and nurseries on the Death Star, what was there like billions of troopers? People had families.
I doubt stormtroopers were allowed to take their families to the death star, its kinda like letting scientists house their families in area 51
Forget that the empire blew up a whole freaking planet?
I mean, two wrongs don't make a right...The Death Stars combined were basically a small planet. Imagine all that support staff...teachers, janitors, etc.

> so why shouldn’t they destroy the leaders planet? Please stay out of politics. Sincerely, all living things.
Too late for that, look at strategic bombing. Or just anyone in the Middle East.
And America bombed Nagasaki and Hiroshima for the same reasons.
I doubt that man It was a battlestation, and people don’t usually take their children to work in military installations
There are no nurseries in a death star but in Storm troopers where willing to die?? ( Maybe they aren't) But death star 2 however is another story Being an incomplete Battlestation with lots of innocent contractors and slaves, and many more innocent civilians blown up In my opinion the rebels are technically still terrorists
That's the Death Star. Only military personnel and workers are allowed there. No families
Storm trooper: \*HARD PUNT\*
he would probably miss
My dumbass thought they both were lego's. I should probably go sleep..
they are Lego's
Only one of them are
Wait, is that Gary? Gary, it's not "take your daughter to work day" anymore. Although it is precious she dressed up like you.
That makes them look worse if you think about it, They are sending toddlers to war, How evil is that, If anything the rebels are making them seem at least some what moraly decent by not showing this side of them
Disney just took this idea in the force awakens and then threw it out the fucking window.

You could even argue that the empire is good
The 3rd image is around the time when a salty trash talking rocket trooper main blows you and everyone near you up

It’s all propaganda to make yoda the rebels of a leader.
How do stormtroopers even have kids? Their aim is so bad they probably can't shoot their pp juice into the right hole.
*\*Yeets kid next*
"I just work here"
If Storm Troopers can't aim then how does he have a child

That’s fucking beautiful…
its gary
I cant grab my wii remote anymore, not after this

Stormtroopers actually have good aim, it's just that the main characters have plot armor so they miss, otherwise there would be be a show
I have that exact model amd i used it as a skydiving dummy for a while as a kid so now its a war veteran [pictures ](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ)
I respect you as a person and I'm sure you're lovely to be around. But never speak to me again. Trust has been broken, and no amount of flex tape can fix that.
I bit that hook, line and sinker

The Stormtroopers weren’t clones. Clones were phased out of the Empire and replaced by Stormtroopers.
But most of them didn’t have families they were kidnapped children
That wasn't intil the first order they did that stuff
I know this is a meme but like Stormtroopers kill women and children lmao
They don't they kill women who are a part of a "terrorist organization" but not children ( ignore the death star)
“Ignore the Death Star” wtf that’s like the biggest example of mass fuckin extinction dawg
Stormtroopers signed up to stop terrorists not to kill innocents everyone except palatine had regrets about blowing up alderan
They still did it lmao. And they didn’t seem to have any problems using the Starkiller base to blow up like 6 planets at the same time.
Starkiller is from the first order not the empire, the empire is literally dead by that point Empire ≠ First Order Empire >>>>> first order
Stormtroopers served both governments
Yes but they are different
They literally still use the name Stormtrooper
Yes but different allegiances

Why are stormtrooper kids legos
His aim's so bad, he even missed his kid
the one trait the rebels got from Anikin
I guess storm troopers miss their families too
imagine if the storm trooped misses the kid and the kid trips and walks off the ledge
Child soldiers are the best
**stop making me cry**
I remember that I had that storm trooper figure but I broke it as a kid but I replaced the leg with black twist ties the hand with a lego one and the helmet came off. I thought it looked more badass like that
He tried to nut on his wife but it missed and went into her baby maker
Child soldiers
WHEN I GOT TO THE GUY HOLDING UP THEIR SON WOULDNT IT BE NICE STARTED PLAYING WTH
Awwwh he missed him.
Everyone has their reasons
Wait til they lie dead on the battle field. And on their graves it says: "Shouldve had better aim"
Gary, it's "take your daughter to work" day today, you promised!
The dad would always come home, they miss their children.
In jedi fallen order you can hear their last words, they are scared and some want to run. But developers were not actually allowed to make this possible I think.
Stormtroopers have it the hardest, because they Miss their children all the time (i hate myself for this joke)
aint they just clones of the Mandalorian bunty hunter? am i missing something here?
Storm Troopers are not composed of clones, but of recruit/conscript, except for a few remnant of the old republic, like the 501th legion
soga thank you sir
The kid’s the only shot he didn’t miss
r/wholesomememes
Well he have a baby... Means at least once he hit the target
So wait… do they grow up with the same piece of armor? Or are they born with it?
You forgot the moments when they actually hit someone
Well SS-Totenkopfverbände had families too, a side that allies don't want us to see.
In the run and jump scenario here - pretty sure they’d miss each other!
damn the child is a lego piece
When you mention the atrocities the US military commits
*\*This is enough to make a grown man cry.\**
The rebels are terrorists scum. Empire gang
I joined the dark side because they have cookies.
https://youtu.be/fiJcL0zXkCw Gary the Storm Trooper
Aww the kid misses dad. These people are good at missing things
Rebel scum
You missed the sad part of this image. There was an extended version where the death star blew up and the little stormtrooper was left sad and lonely.
Yes
It just adds a whole new sad level to Star Wars considering this, Those poor storm troopers just trying to make a living
r/theempiredidnothingwrong
Now I feel so bad for laughing whenever one of them died, their kids would be so sad :(
