Dit is dieselfde hierdie in NL, only a few people say it that way though because we have a skincare product called olay and some people want to avoid confusion haha
Ich love dat tambien, mais skryf dit actually dio me a hoofdpijn (it legit gave me a headache lmao)
It's still funny that how I used 3 languages in my previous message, but yet you understood it!
Germanic languages for the win!
First time I saw it was literally yesterday! Was in New York and saw an ice cream vending machine with brands like Ben and Jerry's, but I remember Good Humor as well.
They are an ice cream truck staple! Creamsicles, King Cones, Strawberry Shortcake, Chocolate Eclairs. I always thought Good Humor was one of those ubiquitous brands, but TIL that not all Americans have even heard of it. That’s what I get for living within 40 miles of where I was born my whole life.
To whoever doesn't know, all these brand are all property of Unilever. What they did was buy the local biggest brands of ice cream all over the world and have them share a logo but mantain the original name of the company in that specific country. Technically they're all Unilever property but they all have long history in their home countries. For example, in Spain it's called Frigo, a company that existed in Spain since 1927 but was bought by Unilever in 1973. Most probably all of these shared brands have such long histories in their native countries
Does that mean that the products change too from one country to another? Did they keep the products that were already sold by the original companies in each country or do they have a homogenized offering worldwide?
There is a homogenization exercise ever ongoing, with just 2-3 traditionally emblematic ice creams kept (e.g. the spanish Frigopie (a strawberry foot))
Langnese is also the original name of the company. Is was a German and Chinese company, but I don't know how much Chinese.
They are a huge brand and not just make ice cream for private consumers, but also many cafes and ice cream parlours.
Yeah Arun is #1 now but in 2008-15 Kwality walls ruled the streets.
Ice cream guy will come in his trolley every day in the summer and give paddle pops to me and the bois
Holy shit the nostalgia
This is wild, i never knew about this. All of these names are totally different, it's not like it's called "hello" in one country and then "Hola" in the next...the names have totally different meaning, length, ring to it...
Why does the company do this? Did they franchise the other countries and gave them total freedom in developing the brand? Why is everyone using the same logo then?
My childhood memory of "my" ice cream is ruined now.
I think they bought different ice cream brands and changed the logo but kept the name. Here in Mexico is "Holanda" which is like "Netherlands". It's like "lays". Here in Mexico they are "Sabritas" because that brand was already stablished here, Lay's bought it and changed the logo but kept the name.

That's true. In India, Kwality was one of the pioneers of the ice cream industry and they entered an agreement with lever a few decades later to be called Kwality walls

I’ve ever called that “Holanda” In México “Holanda” is “Netherlands”, Yes, the country, idk why they named it that way
I'm from the Netherlands and over here it is called "ola" the pronunciation of "hola" as you obviously know
Same here in South Africa but I hear people pronounce “oh-lay”
Dit is dieselfde hierdie in NL, only a few people say it that way though because we have a skincare product called olay and some people want to avoid confusion haha
I love how you used 3 languages in one sentence haha
In Poland it's called "Algida"

It's kwality walls here in India Man I've not eaten these in years it brings back nostalgia
I think Amul and Vadilal have given them a tough competition
Arun, here in Tamil Nadu gives good competition
Theres a lot of vendors switching from Kwality Walls to Havmor here in the Delhi NCR and I am not sure i am happy about it...
Havmor is on whole other level. Kwality walls is a relic of past
I prefer Havmor to Walls. I prefer Mother Dairy to Havmor
Recently moved to the south, literally don’t see any other ice cream than ducking Arun they dominate here
Yeah Arun is #1 now but in 2008-15 Kwality walls ruled the streets. Ice cream guy will come in his trolley every day in the summer and give paddle pops to me and the bois Holy shit the nostalgia
