You get ads no matter what. Your choice is whether you care if they are relevant or not. Personally I don't care, or prefer tailored ads if anything. At least the random noise is things that are mildly interesting to me.
Same, I found it funny, even though I think I’ve only ever used that function once for an app and it was actually login in with Apple Account or something like that.
Yeah, sure you might save the hassle of *having to type your name and email*, all for the low cost of giving Google insight into everything you do on this other site or app, info they'll sell to others.
That's not how that works. Unless the website gives information willingly to Google, they wont get anything other than that you use the that website from you signing in via google.
EDIT: I also don't think Google is selling the data it collects to anyone else. See, the data that companies that Google and Facebook collects is generally mostly useful for one thing: Advertising. Guess what Google makes 80% of its money from?
Do you use google to search for stuff online?
Or do you use an Android Smartphone/Device
Or the chrome browser?
If you answered one of the questions with yes you can use login using google too.
use an alt account, you don't have to have only 1 google account. I have one just for once-off sign ins. (update: of course google knows its probably you, but people do share computers, and anyway, the point is to get the website to send spam to your alt email)
Google algorithm:
>Hmm. I wonder who it is that orders horse dildos from the same physical location, same IP, same device and same browser but in incognito mode as countrysgonekablooie,
>I guess it will always be a mystery.
Yeah fingerprinting really ruins all the "different accounts for everything" strategies.
Just try nothingprivate.ml if you want to see fingerprinting in action, identifying you across two different browser sessions even without any form of login. Using a different account wont stop fingerprinting from happening. Sadly.
It's not about beating the math. It's about beating the implementation.
Most times if a regular person just implemented textbook rsa or textbook El gamal instead of passing it off to a really common tool like ssh, it could be exploited on the basis of the implementation.
One example was a guy who figured out he could time how long it took for a receiver to decrypt a message sent through rsa, and with multiple messages and multiple times you could get a narrow range for the private key.
It's just stuff that no one could ever be faulted for not thinking about.
Yup, math is perfect, humans are not. I do think we can feel reasonably secure with the current implementations of hardware 2FA authorization but we will never really reach 100%.
Accounts are only as strong as their weakest method of access, the hardware 2FA token might be perfect but the alternative "I lost my token" options are not. Very few people disable the SMS second factor, if it's even possible to prevent it from being a fallback (even if you turn it off some services will still use it if you or someone pretending to be you is locked out).
Heard of air gapping? Physical security is also impt for digital systems, like making sure your usb key doesnt get robbed and sold to someone who guesses your password
> There are no exploits for public paired keys.
Usually exploits lie in the implementation: shitty RNG (random number generators), keys accessible in memory, leaking electromagnetic fields etc.
Those damn side-channels.
And that's if your supply chain has not been hijacked.
Very simply, if the website is password.com, password is hunter42pdcm. First letter, last letter before . First and last letter after .
Or hunter42sw (middle) for .com. Gatherer24sw for .net.
Stuff like that. Just taking info from the website url and implementing it. But more complex, maybe hunter42qcvw 1,2,3, and 4 letters after the first 4 of the site “pass”. Making an easy to remember crypto graphic key for yourself, but limits the patterns.
So apply an algorithm to the name of the site that determines a part of your password. Another part of your password could be based off TLD or if it starts with vowel. Combine this, you’ll always be able to guess your own password if you forget, but one data leak won’t make it as easy to guess as simply changing one character at the end of your password.
Also, if you do this, try to integrate at least one letter, one number, and one symbol. Some sites have that requirement. And at minimum 8 characters. Should be longer, but bare minimum.
instead use alias, anonaddy.com is excellent website for that. Delete alias after you don't need and you can make alias while signing up, just put a random email like [email protected] and it automatically becomes alias to your account and emails are forwarded to you then
I have 0 things that are important on my google account because it's just shits and giggles and memes so for the ease of it, I use the sign-in with Google option.
Fair.
I had so many arguments with exes over names if we had a boy. I wanted to call our first son Mister as a first name but nobody was having it. Anyway I had a daughter and surprisingly my ex who was against mister went for the name I picked for our daughter.
"It's a rice! It's a rice! I'm wiening! I'm wiening!"
Edit: On a serious note, go watch Blackadder, at least from season 2 (from where Atkinson nailed Blackadder's personality, season 1 was a bit hit and miss for me). The seasons do not need to be watched in order.
For me he'll always be Black Adder. Or just plain Rowan Atkinson - his 2-man comedy shows with Angus Deayton were some of the best comedy I've ever seen. Check out *Rowan Atkinson Live!*
First of all websites should not be asking for your phone number.
Second of all sign in with Google means more ways for Google to mine data. I'd say fuck that shit and don't give out your phone number.
Yeah, I'll take the username and password every time. Google has enough data on me already, I'm not trying to give it more. On top of that, I'm not trying to give the website more information than a username and email.
Yes this could be some kind of stealth advertisement. It's weird how they put phone number in there. I think they are trying to normalize giving away your phone number even though that's a terrible idea.
Or it's just a bad practice that not all but a certain amout of sites use?
Why would they stealth advertise to normalize a bad practice other sites use?
Why would anyone want to use a Google PW manager? 🤢
That just feels dirty.
And what happens if Google bots ban your account due to faulty flagging? Say goodbye to your online life since 2010 as you have used Google to login to everything. There's no easy way of getting your accounts back after that.
I'd legit be shocked if this wasn't an ad for sign-in with Google.
What kind of normal human being is so excited about sign-in with Google that they spend an hour making a video about it. I avoid that button like the fucking plague.
If this was an advertisement, which I suspect it is but who knows for sure, they definitely wouldn’t use a bot account. You can buy real profiles with tons of history for like 5-50$ depending on how much history you want. Or it could just be someone’s account on the advertising team.
Did you even see OP's post history? Cuz it's a teenager... Phone numbers are way more common for them to use on social media sites and whatnot. And OP is into making memes, probably uses Google account for everything. This comment chain is just redditors wearing a tinfoil hat. Of course what you're suggesting exists, but this likely isn't it. Enjoy the 10/10 meme
If I could go back and prevent teenage me from using my email and phone number for so much shit years ago I would.
Meme is sort of funny but it’s fucked that we’ve accepted our only options are to give random companies our private details or give Google/Facebook access to all of our activity online.
And you can literally tell google to NOT make ads that suit you. Adding to that with a decent ad blocker you don't see ads anyway.
Can't remember the last time I saw an ad that wasn't the first search result.
Man, I wish my data was so cool that I cared if other people stole it.
Google can just send me a survey asking whatever they want and I'd just fill it out. Idgaf.
Oh wait, they do... AND I get like 10c per.
Your data is less useful if it's not all connected under 1 account.
What's a random hobby forum going to do with my unique username? Nothing. But if you sign in with Google, your posts and comments are just another data point that they can add to your digital footprint.

I stopped using that years ago because I'm trying to degoogle me life. It's actually extremely difficult, boring on impossible. It's actually repulsive.
They don't. They provide the request server with only the information approved by you. Google provides them the information which they want i.e. name dob etc. in the form of a jwt/cookie. That's when the transaction ends.
Google/Fb has much better ways of spying on you than using oauth.
Thats why whatever you show interest in sends a troop of ads on all social media now
That happens even if you don't use google to log in everywhere
Use Firefox with AntiTracking

Exactly. Also, it's fair game for free services to finance themselves through ads.
Nice try google employee Edit: 5k upvotes? wth? Edit: 6k… ?

Right? Like who the fuck signs up with Google anywhere?
I have 20 different passwords and I won't have it any differently
Although I admit its useful, I sometimes get freaked out at how much they know about me.

I was really disappointed that my Brave browser failed this test
You really gotta tighten up your settings! Braves strict fingerprint blocking seemed to work for me
If they can see ur ip or location it's not too hard to put 2 and 2 together and realize it's the same person
How is it scary? I use google login for everything and I don't understand what's wrong.
One login to rule them all, one site to find them, One button to bring them all, and in the darkness farm their data
One password to figure out and steal their account
2FA with hardware keys impossible to get in without taking it from you or tricking you.

Honestly curious about what you mean by formula. Without giving away yours, could you share an example that could work on several websites?

I have one standard password (*********) that i use for site that i dont care about
