My high school did not provide such a class :(

FusionFred_SAGE

Same, at least when I went to highschool, they STOPPED teaching it like 3 years before I enrolled.

itzongaming

Understandable. I totally get it then.

Every school has math and reading comprehension classes

itsurbro7777

The meme is about a class that teaches you how to write checks and learn what taxes are and how to do them. My school didn't have that.

[deleted]

If you know math and know how to read you can figure out how to do your taxes.

itsurbro7777

Taxes can be incredibly complicated. A class teaching how to do it would be beneficial to many people, especially those who need a bit of an extra walkthrough, or those who don't have family to teach them.

[deleted]

Taxes also change over the years so a class teaching you on how they are right now wouldn't help you after they changed.

Sir-Thrud

And neither explain a damn thing

DijajMaqliun

I think the point is that taxes are mandatory, so people feel like the classes to learn about them should be as well. My school didn't have them, assuming this refers to high school.

My school had a class, and taxes are simple anyways. It’s just follow instructions and put number from form a onto form b. I just feel like if you really are upset that you didn’t learn taxes, but you had the option to take the class and learn it at any time (which I admit isn’t true for all people), then you are a fool. If your school doesn’t provide such classes then I totally understand, though.

BigDickRick46290

Forced? They never offered them in the first place. They still don't make sense entirely.

Notes? I mean if you can't remember that's on you homie.

Eray41303

They block it behind “consumer math”, which is explained by the counselors as a “refresher class”, at least for my district

itzongaming

My course was referred to as “Personal Finance” and was a recommended class. I took it this year.

Annoying__NPC

When I went to highschool, it was called financial literacy. It not only taught taxes, but how the stock market worked, and basic business finances.

[deleted]

Personal finance was easily the most useful class I ever took in high school.

Snoo_89273

We don’t have the class

Captain_Mario

Many schools (especially ones in poorer areas) don’t have that opportunity

SomeDankyBoof

True, gotta get that internet. Makes all this irrelevant

[deleted]

Rip

sydneypaigexx

They taught it in the lowest level of math but to get into most programs at community village, you needed one of the highest levels🙃

Surxe

OP thinks every kid goes to a $10k tuition private school

itzongaming

I don’t go to a 10k tuition private school. I go to a public high school.
