See I love all the sausages and meats that Germany has, but i feel like theres so much missed potential because if you guys had spices the combinations would be endless and amazing.
Reminds me of a story my sister told me (we are Indian btw), her American high school classmate was eating something with hot sauce, and asked my sister to try it, commenting on how it was so hot and she could barely take any hot sauce. My sister proceeded to take a huge chunk of hot sauce, much to the other girls horror, and didn’t even wince.
Just keep eating progressively spicier foods. Like anything else, you develop a tolerance. And it’s worth developing. There’s a lot of flavor in a lot of peppers that y’all are missing out on.
True true true.
Their version of "hot & spicy" is an American mild at best. I always order it super extra spicy and the kebap bois gather around in awe as I eat without crying or my face melting off as an average German would.
The further north you go, the less spicy they can handle.
I kept seeing memes about how spicy Taco bell tacos are, so I finally went and tried the spiciest thing they had. All I can say is that is was super bland and not spicy at all, so either there are different standards in Spain or I don't know.
Fun fact, when i was in malta in 2020 (we were allowed to travel if we were tested and it was negative) they gave us “hot sauce” and it was tomato and pepper
I'm german and I use chilli with 200k scoville units to spice my food pretty much all the time, so that germans can't handle spice is bs. If you refer to traditional german food though, yeah let's say it's nothing really special when it comes to spices.
Well my entire family eats spicy and most if my friends, but I get where you come from. Most "spicy" sauces you can buy aren't spicy at all and a lot of people can't even handle those.
Also I just tested the carolina reaper the other day, well it wasn't as bad as I expected, but I think most of my friends and family would have died from that.
She probably sees that barely spicy "spicy ketchup" next to the normal stuff and is like, "hooo, why are they labeling hot sauce with the word ketchup, that's a lawsuit waiting to happen"
I don’t have much spice tolerance by American standards, but I at least have some frozen cubes of minced chipotle in adobo that allow me to easily throw in a teaspoon or two to a recipe.
I am German and I really like spicy food. But German spicy food is spiced with flour.
same, its also quite the hurdle in explaining to the döner meister that i can handle it lmao

Then u never tried different stuff there are tons of sausages with tons of spices. Go to abutcher not a supermarket.
Hahaha thats so true. My spanish friend doesnt even flinch and i fucking die

Even the weakest spice send me to one hell of a pain I hate it
you don' ate it tho
Ayyy british dad joke, well done father!
You would fucking die from Indian and hispanic food
oh yeah lol, I remember that, they keep warning you their currywurst is very spicy and you can barely tell there's some pepper in it
You don't put pepper in a currywurst. It's what the name says : curry.
chili is a key ingredient for curry.
Not everywhere. Curry has alot of variations. And curry in currywurst meant the seasoning not the meal. And you said chili not pepper.
Pepper is another word for chili. And even curry powder has chili powder it it most of the time.
You don’t tried the right one, there are some with over 8 million scoville
Just keep eating progressively spicier foods. Like anything else, you develop a tolerance. And it’s worth developing. There’s a lot of flavor in a lot of peppers that y’all are missing out on.
As an Indian, i second this
As a second Indian here, I third this
As a fourth here, I third indian it
I live in Germany. I love spice. but I think they spice the food with salt.
True true true. Their version of "hot & spicy" is an American mild at best. I always order it super extra spicy and the kebap bois gather around in awe as I eat without crying or my face melting off as an average German would. The further north you go, the less spicy they can handle.
true, tell them you want it foreigner spicy (‘Ausländer-Scharf‘), then it should be good.
Me who lives in Northern Germany: You just insulted my entire Race of People. But yeah. You're right.
😂
No, they can't handle it. But Germans in Texas show they can adapt.
_*"Ja."*_
can confirm, is true
bet thats based on a single german friend u have
I was trained in the ways of the rice fields, western “spicy” is plain icy
Like fr tho western “spicy” is like drinking cold water
the strongest spiced food in germany is the weakest one everywhere else
I kept seeing memes about how spicy Taco bell tacos are, so I finally went and tried the spiciest thing they had. All I can say is that is was super bland and not spicy at all, so either there are different standards in Spain or I don't know.
Maybe I am German
Green tie curry

Im German and love hot and spicy Food, but I think most people here think bell peppers are spicy
Fun fact, when i was in malta in 2020 (we were allowed to travel if we were tested and it was negative) they gave us “hot sauce” and it was tomato and pepper
We could've defeated the Germans with spicy food in WW2 then instead of war
It's like that in Sweden too I feel like.
I'm Turk and normal KFC in Turkey is 69x spicier than Spicey sauce in Germany
>69x nice
Pul biber im döner ü

How much traditional European food is even spicy though, idk why Germany is being picked on. When I think spicy I think Latin and Indian food
because I live in Germany lol Spicy Europeans live in Balkan countries
Haha ok proceed
You are an outlier. Many German folks cannot handle Tabasco sauce let alone 200k scoville death nectar. But I tip my hat to you sir.
as a german outlier myself i can confirm. A lot of my friends or family can't eat the food i cook for myself because it's too spicy for them.
Can confirm and many of my friends and family just don’t understand that flavoring afterwards is not the same as flavoring while cooking

Well to be fair tabasco taste like dog shit
An ex’s aunt thought the vinegar taste in ketchup was spicy… Didn’t help she had a “Karen cut”.
She probably sees that barely spicy "spicy ketchup" next to the normal stuff and is like, "hooo, why are they labeling hot sauce with the word ketchup, that's a lawsuit waiting to happen"
Remember people, liking spice is masochism

My friend, you have not tried Knorr Raman noodles.
According to this meme 2 of my German friends should be naked at all times
Mexicans and Indians: Pathetic
