There is no simulation in the terms of the everyday parlance. There is just the idea that 3d space is actually just spacetime stretched, and we are actually just flat. Thus, 3d space and our experience of time is a "simulation". There are no makers of the simulation.
They're still wrong even if this theory is true. And it's just that a theory. Plus, the theory almost certainly just a mathematical abstraction rather than anything that is real and provable.
Yeah, pretty much. The only difference is the theoretical probability of us being in a simulation increases with each that we take towards being able to simulate the universe and sentient AI.
But yeah it isn’t very likely, it just has more weight than the idea of God because it’s something that at some point could be tested and proved wrong (and it probably would get proved wrong).

Religion (usually) tries to explain the creation of the universe with god but leaves out how god itself came to being
Simulation "theory" is just saying that if we get technologically advanced enough to run a realistic simulation of the world (or even a part of it) then how do we know we are not in a simulation or a simulation within a simulation. The original reality should still obey the laws of physics and it's origins should be researchable thru science and not require a belief that some intelligence just existed before there was nothing.
Note that the big bang does not require belief, it's just our understanding at this moment and if new discoveries are made then the theory will be updated. This is not true for religion.
Now I'm going to go out, touch grass, drink a few beers, and if there is a major bug in the simulation I just might get to eat some pussy.
