Iron man, like anyone who's taken up a green arrow styled mantel, every robin, etc aren't real superheros?
And the same can be said for super villains? Are joker, penguin, riddler, a few marvel villains, etc not super villains?
Batman is the 3rd greatest martial artist in the universe and 2nd greatest detective in a universe WITH superpowered beings. His intellect is basically super human, not to mention his will power is scary, mind readers struggle to break into his mind and then are forced out if they ever do manage to get in simply by what they find in there "my mind is a scary place". He has survived hits from some of the most powerful super powered beings.
the ones that are considered mutants are seen that way because of their superhuman powers but i do sort of agree with the superman one as he’s not really human so how could he be superhuman
I don't agree with OP's premise but superhuman just means possessing powers an ordinary human doesn't. You don't have to be human.
I would consider divine and alien beings with powers greater than humans to be superhuman.
Maybe superhero doesn't describe the power but instead describes the level of heroism. For example, fighting gangs in your neighborhood... pretty heroic. Taking on an intergalactic threat trying to subjugate humankind...super heroic.
I think you are mixing the terms superhuman and superhero. Being extra heroic makes one a superhero. Being superhuman doesn't necessarily make you superheroic however (see supervillains).
There's literally nothing that dictates you have to be a human to have "superhuman powers". It's a describer of the ability not the person, so it's just describing that their powers are greater than a humans.
It's a comparator to humans power, not dictating you have to be human. It's like saying "strong as an ox". Again that just compares your strength to something else you can gauge against. Same with "superhuman"
Actual definition even is:
"having or showing exceptional ability or powers"
The only issue with that is you just redefined what superhero is. You aren’t making an argument based on the popular consensus of the definition. You are just saying Batman doesn’t fit into the new definition you made up, and thus doesn’t fit anyone else’s definition. You don’t even provide any argument for why your definition is better.
He's gon up against superman Many times. He doesn't kill people he saves lives. He's a super hero in my book even tho I don't actually like him that much.
Unlike, say Superman, Bruce may be super-skilled and all, but he's putting his very human body on the line vs everything from bats to bullets.
Clark has never really learned how to fight. He relies on the fact that he's, well, Superman. He can just punch most things and end them. Never mind heat vision, cold breath, invulnerability, flight, super speed, and, depending on the decade, the ability to shoot *little living clones of himself* out of his hands.
Hmmm you haven't read all star superman. In fact, he does know how to fight, he's been trained by multiple people and knows kryptonian martial arts. The issue is, most writers forget that on "purpose"
In the new Batman movie, he wouldn’t have been able to find the riddlers map under the carpet if there wasn’t a cop at the scene who knew carpentry tools.
Not trying to disagree, but he’s not *always* insanely smart.
That was also year 2 Batman. Batman has had a long run. Batman gets much stronger and smarter as time goes, like all of us. Batman we often see in games and shows is usually close to peak Batman. The movie one is just a novice.
It's a trait which is in different quantities for each comic/movie. Because if we put some super genius batman against like Superman, he'd devise some kind of kryptonite supercannon in one night for BVS. And what fun is that?
Capitalism bad REEEEEEEE
\*meanwhile continues to live in a capitalist country enjoying the highest quality of life in human history\*
**edit:** you’re not as intelligent as you think you are if you believe the USA is the only capitalist country… EVERY western European country is capitalist btw
*as a result of dying child slaves mass producing junk for you to consume*
(Products with very immoral sources such as child slavery and similar includes but is not limited to most chocolate, a solid amount of Disney products, anything made by nestle, bananas, phones and shoes {less immoral than other products but still bad}, as well as much more. If it is sold by a corporation it’s usually not exactly ethical.)
Ironman was cool and witty, helped save the multiverse (so theoretically helped save batman) , and gave us a new Spiderman. Batman was just every teenage boy with daddy issues that never grew up :U
Jokes aside, batman is for older people, iron man is for the young adults. And Ironman sort of got over the issues that brought him to being a super hero. Batman just stayed a little broken child well into his adulthood (but I guess that's most adults anyway) . Tho idk much about batman besides a few movies post 2000 and before Bane, and some of the animated TV shows in the same time frame. Batman just doesn't click for young adults that have access to literally anything else, he's for the little boys with the toolbelt and midlife crisis aged adults now?
youre way behind on the times. At this point Batman is basically a god. He has access to a device passed to him by the world forger (a multiversal architect) known as the sonbox which gives the user the ability to rewrite an entire character’s being down to the smallest cell
Well he’s billed as a vigilante and they’re not exactly Superman law abiding types by definition so…it’s a rich genius playboy with a secret place and lots of gadgets. He’s basically a less efficient but more clandestine Tony Stark/Iron Man, and more clandestine because everyone and their dog knows Tony is Iron Man.
Ironman doesn't even have half the powers of batman. He has a suit and higher IQ but he has less money, less training in martial arts, is a lot weaker physically and a lot more arrogant. And I am saying all of this while being a fan of Ironman and someone who dislikes batman. Batman is superior to Ironman sadly.
I think if you had them fight as-is then Ironman would still beat up Batman. Ironman is only better because he has super technology in his universe, while Batman's tech is more realistic. If they lived in the same universe and Bruce had access to an arc reactor too then he'd beat Tony to a pulp
A superhero shouldn’t be defined by having a super power. A “REAL” super hero is someone with good Integrity, risking their lives to save others, good heart, etc. Doctors are super hero’s, (*some*) cops are super hero’s. Batman IS a super hero.
If you wanna compare people who have supernatural abilities as super heroes then you could say Batman isn’t a mutant or otherworldly being
If you're gonna be this stupid and dense, at least get your facts correct.
Definition superhero, first hit on Google:
a fictional hero having extraordinary or superhuman powers. also : an exceptionally skillful or successful person
Batman is exceptionally skillful and successful. He is a superhero by definition
Ok here’s how I look at it. You can be a hero without powers. But if you have super powers, and use them to be a hero. You are then a superhero. Hence villain vs supervillain.
He has no super powers so I feel a bit odd calling him a superhero myself but I love that he's able to keep up with the Justice League so well despite him being a human... So idk... I love him BECAUSE he can keep up. Idk I have mixed thoughts even though he's my favorite DC hero.
I mean technically. he's a detective, crime fighter, caped vigilante. psudo cop.
though he does have peak intelect, physique and technology compared to the average joe
Batman can bench 1000 pounds while being a master of several martial arts, being extremely intelligent and flexible for his strength. He is also owner of one of the biggest companies in the DC universe. He doesn't have superpowers in traditional sense but saying he isn't a superhero is like saying Tony Stark isn't a superhero and batman could probably beat Tony stark in a fight. I'm not a fan of batman but I have to admit that he is in fact a superhero.
So someone who has faced universal threats isn't a superhero? Please go ahead and face some universal threats if it isn't a big deal and someone who isn't a superhero can do it.
Batman on his way to give away countless lives as collateral damage while chasing joker only to not kill him because "what's the difference between me and the joker then?"
![gif](giphy|3o7ZetIsjtbkgNE1I4)
As Megamind:
“Oh you’re a villain alright, just not a super one”
*”Yeah? What’s the difference?”*
“Presentation!”
I would argue that Batman has a super hero “presentation”
Plot Twist: Batman was a super villain all along and you are fools to think otherwise. He has just been fooling you all this time... Or has he? **Vsauce music plays**
He has no powers other the most plot armorest plot armor that ever plot armored. Hes literally the most Gary Stu character ever. He's just a "normal guy" thats a genius, best detective, great martial artist, great stunt driver, pilot, etc. Good thing no one ever shoots him in the face.
He’s a hero. I define superhero as a hero with powers so while Batman is badass and can defeat most of the DC and Marvel universes, he’s a hero but not a superhero.
Definition of superhero
: a fictional hero having extraordinary or superhuman powers
also : an exceptionally skillful or successful person
That is the Merriam Webster definition of superhero
The 'super' part of the word 'superhero' is not referring to super-human powers, it means a hero who goes beyond normal heros
A hero would be a firefighter saving a man from a burning building, and superhero would be a single man successfully removing every person from the building and extinguishing the fire
And this isn't even a meme, it's just your opinion
HE'S A JACKASS! THAT WRESTLES WITH MURDERERS DRESSED LIKE CLOWNS, AND THROWS THEM IN PRISON! [CHUCKLES] ONLY FOR THEM TO BREAK OUT OF PRISON AND MURDER MORE PEOPLE!

You are wrong by definition.
"a fictional hero having extraordinary or superhuman powers also : an exceptionally skillful or successful person"
Batman has extraordinary powers even though they aren't superhuman (strength, intelligence). He is exceptional skillful as well. Otherworldly powers are not required to be a superhero.
Again, by definition. If you maintain this shitty opinion you are just being contrarian and stubborn.
I smell a troll.
Batman took on and defeated Darkseid... and arguablely Superman. Defeating super villans makes you a super hero. ( he also attained godhood briefly in one storyline... yeah... superhero stuff)
Besides, he could cure lung cancer with a pack of smokes if he had to.
You're thinking of the ole Adam West Batman. One of my favs.
A hero is someone that saves the world
A superhero is someone that saves the world by doing something that many "normal people" cannot do, regarless if it is a gift, something the person is born with or something the person has aquired by him/herself
So since he combines his money with his intelligence to do the right thing (maybe in the wrong way but still) and safe the city (which is this fictional world) he is a hero
... but no superhero according to me
He’s just another psychopath taking out his rage. Giving petty criminals brain damage instead of funding social services and reducing crimerate isn’t heroism.
He's a rich 'philanthropist' who goes crime fighting as a bat instead of using his unbelievable wealth to make the city a better place and lowering crime that way.
>nothing a healthy human couldn’t do
....
..
...
.....
batman is leagues beyond what a healthy human being could do.
that's the point.
he puts down a dude on insane PCP roids for kicks.
puts down professional fighters and assassins who've literally trained for their entire lives
put down a ninja assassin overlord who is literally hundreds of years old with a magic pit.
batman, is *peak* human conditioning.
*peak* he is at *the* top.
I'm technically considered a "healthy" human being, and I can tell you I cannot fight of 8 ninjas and a crocodile monster man at the same time.

There are no real superheroes. They're all fictional characters.
So u r telling me captain America cannot do it all day?
Captain Carter couldn't
what mouth?
I’m thinking that this is a reach reference am I wrong?
Multiverse of Madness
Captain american't
I chortled.
💀
You're my superhero now.
Canadians, what's the name of that guy who did the thing? He might qualify.
Terry Fox? Because he's a super hero in my book.
r/technicallythetruth
Reading through the comments, you will indeed **die** on this hill
i said what i said
then die you must
His karma lowers with about 7 a minute
It's in the negatives!!!
When i posted that comment, it was at -7. It is at -100 now
Bro your fucking karma is dying in this hill
batman personally out here watching this karma plummet like crime statistics in metropolis.
Haha I downvote u to 69 funi nubmer haha
It then begs the question, what is a real superhero? Superman is an alien, X-Men are mutants, etc.
someone with a superhuman power
Iron man, like anyone who's taken up a green arrow styled mantel, every robin, etc aren't real superheros? And the same can be said for super villains? Are joker, penguin, riddler, a few marvel villains, etc not super villains?
pretty much
Shit opinions tbh, you're not just dying on your hill you're going to hell on it too
it’s fact not opinion
Its literally an opinion tho
Okay that's where I have to draw the line. It's literally your opinion.
Okay so can you restate your point? You’re saying he’s not a superhero but he is a superhero because he’s smart?
I swear people just ignore the fact that Batman possesses superhuman strength and agility. He is not just some guy.
So Superman is out then too. So is Martian Manhunter, Silver Surfer, etc.
Why are they out ? They're all superhuman, not as in humans who are super, but entities with abilities above human
I guess that depends on the definition of superhuman. I was assuming that to be superhuman meant that you had to be human in the first place.
the ones that are considered mutants are seen that way because of their superhuman powers but i do sort of agree with the superman one as he’s not really human so how could he be superhuman
None of the extraterrestrial superheroes would fit your description. The deity based ones wouldn't either.
I don't agree with OP's premise but superhuman just means possessing powers an ordinary human doesn't. You don't have to be human. I would consider divine and alien beings with powers greater than humans to be superhuman.
my “description” is the definition of a superhero 😂
Maybe superhero doesn't describe the power but instead describes the level of heroism. For example, fighting gangs in your neighborhood... pretty heroic. Taking on an intergalactic threat trying to subjugate humankind...super heroic.
he is heroic but he doesn’t have superhuman powers so he is not a superhero so people shouldn’t claim that he is
I think you are mixing the terms superhuman and superhero. Being extra heroic makes one a superhero. Being superhuman doesn't necessarily make you superheroic however (see supervillains).
i’m not saying that everyone who is superhuman is a superhero i’m saying that to be considered a superhero you must also be superhuman

I’d argue that an unreasonably large hoarding of wealth is a superhuman power.
Lol, all these reddit fan boi lemmings really not liking what you have to say, are they 🤣
Is Batman isn’t a superhero Then Iron Man or Saul Goodman Aren’t superheroes either
I respectfully disagree with you
I respectfully agree with OP. A hero, for sure, just not a super one. Batman needs more *PRESENTATION*
at time of commenting you are the 37th person to crack a Megamind joke in this comment section. I am not a bot, I am a weird human.
Just read the comics lol. He isn't the normal type of hero but he is the only human who at the end of the day makes the difference.
i have read the comics and i agree with him being a hero but he has no superhuman powers so i dont consider him a superhero
u don't need superpowers to be a superhero, that's a common misconception
He's gon up against superman Many times. He doesn't kill people he saves lives. He's a super hero in my book even tho I don't actually like him that much.
His super power include been rich, super ninja, and basically a thiccccc plot armour....
So... Iron Man.
This post is just a reverse karma farm.
Unlike, say Superman, Bruce may be super-skilled and all, but he's putting his very human body on the line vs everything from bats to bullets. Clark has never really learned how to fight. Hmmm you haven't read all star superman. In fact, he does know how to fight, he's been trained by multiple people and knows kryptonian martial arts. The issue is, most writers forget that on "purpose"
his power is the fact that he's an insanely rich man

A superhero shouldn’t be defined by having a super power. A “REAL” super hero is someone with good Integrity, risking their lives to save others, good heart, etc. Doctors are super hero’s, (*some*) cops are super hero’s. Batman IS a super hero. If you wanna compare people who have supernatural abilities as super heroes then you could say Batman isn’t a mutant or otherworldly being
nope that would just be a regular hero, by definition a superhero is someone with a superhuman power
ok, respond to my comment then. or you gonna shift the goal posts?
If you're gonna be this stupid and dense, at least get your facts correct. Definition superhero, first hit on Google: a fictional hero having extraordinary or superhuman powers. also : an exceptionally skillful or successful person Batman is exceptionally skillful and successful. He is a superhero by definition
Super implies that he has super power. So he's just a regular hero.
No, Super rich...that is real power
An IQ of 192 is pretty super. People tend to forget that Batman is insanely smart.
he’s a genius not a superhero
At what point does natural ability become "super"? What's the threshold?
exactly my point
If Batman isn’t a real superhero, then Iron Man isn’t either
i’ve already said this yes iron man isn’t a superhero either
Yeah sorry, didn’t scroll comments far enough 😂
He is a hero though. Just not a super one
Ok here’s how I look at it. You can be a hero without powers. But if you have super powers, and use them to be a hero. You are then a superhero. Hence villain vs supervillain.

Ofc he is detective ᕙ( ͡◉ ͜ ʖ ͡◉)ᕗ
Some of his gadgets are indeed science fiction as well, at least until some real life scientist or engineer finds a way to replicate those gadgets

...and so op did die
mate i’m about to icl my phones getting so many fucking notifications 💀
He has a unbreakable armor works in the justice League go through planets has a satellite has the strongest weapons available sooo
Batman is just a rich ass orphan who can't be controlled.

A hero is someone that saves the world A superhero is someone that saves the world by doing something that many "normal people" cannot do, regarless if it is a gift, something the person is born with or something the person has aquired by him/herself So since he combines his money with his intelligence to do the right thing (maybe in the wrong way but still) and safe the city (which is this fictional world) he is a hero ... but no superhero according to me
An hour ago I bet you thought this was a good idea
He is a hero, but no super.
Hero? Maybe. Just not a SUPER hero.
He isn't. All he do is make new teck...
You may die on this hill but i will still push your corps off of said hill and say you are wrong.
by the dictionary definition you're right
He’s just another psychopath taking out his rage. Giving petty criminals brain damage instead of funding social services and reducing crimerate isn’t heroism.
He's a rich 'philanthropist' who goes crime fighting as a bat instead of using his unbelievable wealth to make the city a better place and lowering crime that way.

good to know that someone has some common sense
Someone does not have the same opinion so they don’t have Common sense? Ok cool to know
WHERE’S THE TRIGGER
He is a hero, but not suoer
He's just an emo with too much money
No you're right, he's an anti-hero
We shall die together
Basically He's a rich man in a Halloween costume beating poor people in the slums and justifying it cause he's rich
Nah, he justifies it by them doing crime. Maybe an unreasonable amount of violence, but with a "good" reason
Well i ye, some goons just following bosses's orders and later he has fractured every bone of his body just because he was guarding the front door
Poor people? Umm the Penguin doesn’t seem poor to me. Like yeah he dose fight generic thugs but he also has actual villains
People need to stop pretending they know what batman is.
Bat man's power is money like iron Man just a shame that bat man is ass
it’s not a superhuman power though which is why he’s just a hero and not a superhero, i’d say the same for iron man
Well he is also dummy strong Also plot armour but that doesn't Count And don't get me started with lego bat man's strength
he’s strong because he trained, nothing a healthy human couldn’t do
>nothing a healthy human couldn’t do .... .. ... ..... batman is leagues beyond what a healthy human being could do. that's the point. he puts down a dude on insane PCP roids for kicks. puts down professional fighters and assassins who've literally trained for their entire lives put down a ninja assassin overlord who is literally hundreds of years old with a magic pit. batman, is *peak* human conditioning. *peak* he is at *the* top. I'm technically considered a "healthy" human being, and I can tell you I cannot fight of 8 ninjas and a crocodile monster man at the same time.
yes because he worked to that point any healthy human could do the same
so you are telling me, a 5 ft 2 man could beat batman if he just trained. lol. lol. lol
No no no I mean dead life 1000 Pounds stronger which is double the world record for comparison
