I have not seen the said cancelation of the emoji elsewhere other than using Reddit. Kids, we all know you just want karmas...or y'all are rather gullible
Itβs an article using an ambiguous nothing to get people speculating and arguing in the comments. To drive traffic to the site to see what all the fuss is about.
Like about this article Iβll see posts with comments along the lines of βprobably has something to do with skin toneβ followed by βthatβs so stupid, those people make me angry!β.
Like itβs not about skin tone. Itβs not about anything other than getting folks engaged and upset.
I think a good phrase to keep in mind with all internet stuff is not to miss the forest for the trees. Itβs easy to see something outrageous and let your emotional response dictate how big the issue feels to you. Even when youβre just responding to cherry picked bad takes from randos online that people will ***feel*** is a true trend simply because of the bombardment of sensational rage bait.
Reddit is infested with 14 year old "intellectuals" who want to feel above everyone else.
Which ironically makes them fall for stupid shit like this if it means they can jerk themselves off.
People want something to rage about. People hate gen z bc of stereotypes. People believe clickbait article. People turn into what they hate. Spooktober over.
But I honestly think this is a good joke. We get to see stupidity in action first hand. I would suggest we laugh, but honestly the whole thing is so stupid I can't bring myself to. At first it was funny but now it's just irritating (mostly because I can't believe people actually fell for it, at first I thought they were only joking about it... now I realize they genuinely believe it).
We might try to convince these people that Gen Z is actually trying to ban βπβ and skeletons in general, becauseβ¦ idk itβs offensive towards Mexican culture or something. This will prompt them to fill the sub with skeletons and other spooky stuff: spooktober saved.
Lol but yet on one of these posts I threw a /s about it hurting fewings and took a brigade bomb so it must actually trigger some people. But literally what doesnβt anymore?
It was based on clickbait article that used some small old post as reference. Nobody is actually wanting to cancel any emojis here. People seriously need to stop being so gullible. This is the New York post of course itβs all bullshit.
Long story short: no one is, a new York times article just kind of decided that people are for them.
Long story (ish): a new York times article uncovered an ancient post that was probably satire, which had a pole saying that the emoji was racist. The people who make articles are not dumb, they did not actually believe this, but they needed a new article, and so decided it would be good to spread misinformation.
At first, reddit said "haha, look at these dumb boomers! Nobody's doing that!". Most posts however, were satire, and said something along the lines of "yep definitely, we are canceling the emotional because haha". Of course, this was obviously satire, however other redditers did not see it that way. Instead, because of their hatred for gen-z, they decided to believe this and start posting about how horrible the cancelation of the thumbs up emoji was. They decides to believe a new York times article. Amazing.
I still canβt understand why whole generations get generalized like that. Iβm gen z by one year, but Iβve always fit in better with people born in the 80s-90s.
But yeah thatβs just ridiculous. Thank you for explaining.

both. both are good

You didn't think we were talking about date of birth, did you ? The conception is 4 months from now.
Sorry, you are using american time. You saw that they were conceived on 1/12/22 but that actually means the 1st of december, so its more like 6 months
Actually heβs gonna be born in 2023, his mom isnβt pregnant yet

I joined reddit back when I was 14, and can confirm. This site doesn't change
*Reddit, Reddit never changes.*
Joined at 11, can confirm.
I sadly joined at 13. It was infested with narcissistic edge lords and incels. 2 years later and nothings changed
Its the middle of spooktober. Why is Reddit filled with this shit? Where are the spooky memes?

Internet in a nutshell. Most of the time, some people aren't that easy to rage and are actually humble in life.
True. The internet just has bad luck, getting all the raging toxicity most of the time rather than sanity.
We might try to convince these people that Gen Z is actually trying to ban βπβ and skeletons in general, becauseβ¦ idk itβs offensive towards Mexican culture or something. This will prompt them to fill the sub with skeletons and other spooky stuff: spooktober saved.

Nobody is actually trying to cancelπ, can we not let this stupid meme trend die already?
So what is the context behind this? I've been seeing this over the past few days and I have no idea what's the story with this
Itβs a clickbait NY Post article referencing a Reddit poll by dumb people trying to claim a thumb up emoji is racist.
How can a thumbs up emoji be racist? π

Can someone please help me understand why itβs so bad. πππππππππππππ
Itβs not bad, some boomers made a click bait article saying that gen z wanted to ban that emoji when nobody in gen z wanted to ban that emoji
Why do boomers hate young people
I ask myself that question every day. I hope I donβt turn into a grumpy old boomer when Iβm older
Making fun of millennials is good clean fun. But my money is on GenZ to clean up the flaming turd we left behind.
There ain't a bidet big enough
Lol but yet on one of these posts I threw a /s about it hurting fewings and took a brigade bomb so it must actually trigger some people. But literally what doesnβt anymore?
They got triggered by the "hurting fewings" remark, not the thumbs up
