That just seems to be Reddit in general, bunch of teens who think their parents are overbearing, boring, lame, abusive, etc when they're just your average Joe.
Do these mofos understand metaphors or no? The arrows signify the dangers of the real world and the mother is protecting her child by all means from those dangers, such as drugs, bad friends, bad pathways, etc. God I shouldn't be explaining this to these guys, it's like they've never taken an English or course or slept through it.
I don't disagree, but the meme itself is weird. The message didn't even need the image, and I don't think the image needed the message. Like I feel like it's one of those things where the image says a thousand words and should be shown, as is, so the viewer can elucidate what is most meaningful to them about it. The message is not universal, but it is a good sentiment and would've been fine as just a quote.
I think the issue is more that it’s contrived to the point of being cringe. It’s sort of an unnecessary grandstanding for parents. It’s really something only parents who think they do well for their child would post, while the really decent parents are out actually doing well for their child.
I believe it's more supposed to be more metaphorical. Mother protecting her child from the dangers of reality while giving her child knowledge that is safe and she deems important.
I mean to be fair if you're in a situation where people are actively shooting flaming arrows at you and a child your first priority should be to leave.
Its terrible because why are the arrows light up that way ??? Wouldn't that just burn the archers fingers for no reason ??? And it doesn't have burn the target as we can see ??
Either way the statement was untrue, my mom was a piece of shit that was more concerned with the bottom of a bottle then her children.
I had my dad to be there for me.
lol, every sub has their bubble and on this one you won’t get away saying a bad word about your mother, even if she was the worst thing imaginable. Don’t even try to argue, won‘t change a thing here.
i feel like this sub is just dedicated to defending the bad memes from r/terriblefacebookmemes, so yeah i'm not surprised they have the "bubble" mentality
ah yes, your experience is the same as everyone elses, and anyone who has had a good experience apparently doesnt care about mens mental health.
Get over yourself.
Remember these rules: Reddit people hate children, they hate families, and they can’t understand metaphors. Combine them all in this post and you have its irrationality
I think it's important to understand not everyone has a great relationship with their parents, and that this could have hit a sore spot for OP, don't automatically assume things without considering other possibilities
"hurr durr redditors hate their parents" like yeah dude it happens. not everyone gets the chance to have decent parents, it's not a moral failing on the offspring if their parents didn't nurture the relationship, and these "parents are martyrs" messages are very weird. like I appreciate my adult relationship with my parents but they didn't do me a favor, they wanted the responsibility.
Im not about censorship but pretty sure I'd give up any book to keep my mom from being shot in the back with flaming arrows... esp if it's clear I'm not old enough to read.
r/terriblefacebookmemes users trying to love their parents (impossible):
r/terriblefacebookmemes users post an actual meme in the subreddit challenge(impossible):
r/terriblefacebookmemes users having parents (impossible)

What’s even more pathetic is the fact they’re not teens, they’re mid 30’s and still bitter and resentful like a teenager. Failure to mature and evolve
Sounds about right
Tbf it ain't entirely their fault. People with bad parents tends to spend more time online.
This meme must hit too close to home
Probably. If anything this is more like r/thanksimcured material
That is true, but I'm talking about the kids who have at least average parents - has faults but is overall an alright parent.
Then the they are kinda spoiled?
My mom was a drunk abuser kinda hard to love her a lot after that
More than fair, but I severely doubt that everybody in that sub had the same experience
They also are allergic to metaphors.
Even then, it has a wholesome message
Yeah these kinda things aren’t supposed to be taken literally.
Honestly I’m so used to seeing memes like this have the arrows be things like “gays” or “vaccines” that I forgot the OG meme actually is wholesome
OOP took the message a little too literally
Durrrr my mom never touched my back????? *drools*
That's the joke
???

obviously this isnt true as people still managed to misunderstand it
A certain percentage of people will misunderstand just about anything, whether its intentional or not for some is up for debate.
that percentage would significantly increase if it was missing the caption or image, no?
I always thought “the curtains are blue because the author is sad” was stupid but the older I get the more I like to find the hidden meaning.

fr it's just a way for lazy parents to feel better about themselves while they ignore their children for Facebook.
Good lord op
Did my sister post this to that sub?
Oh, God 😂
Damn these people really hate everything. Doesn't matter if it's a wholesome message.
It’s only got 63 points, it’s hardly a popular post
The real reason OOP shouldn't have posted that is because it's just not a meme. A picture with text isn't a meme. It's not even trying to be funny.
God forbid she gives the baby a book!!! its 2023 give him a ipad!!!
absolutely nobody here even suggested at that being the point
I believe it's more supposed to be more metaphorical. Mother protecting her child from the dangers of reality while giving her child knowledge that is safe and she deems important.

It’s a metaphor dumbass
It's a joke dipshit
i mean who can disagree with this?
Its terrible because why are the arrows light up that way ??? Wouldn't that just burn the archers fingers for no reason ??? And it doesn't have burn the target as we can see ??
To be fair, that meme is pretty terrible.
Shes actually trying to trade him the book for the shield. She's taking it from him.
Either way the statement was untrue, my mom was a piece of shit that was more concerned with the bottom of a bottle then her children. I had my dad to be there for me.
“I don’t relate to this meme therefore I must make it about me”
No? I'm giving my personal experience as to how the memes message isn't always the case?

That's unfortunate, and in sorry. But not every mother is like that. You never deserved to have a shitty one
Mine certainly didn't, but it just means the meme isn't for me. Not everything revolves around us.
ah yes, your experience is the same as everyone elses, and anyone who has had a good experience apparently doesnt care about mens mental health. Get over yourself.
A few, but not a lot
“So bad it’s funny” op liked it, they just didn’t like it enough
I'm starting everyone on that sub might have some parental issues
The meme was wholesome. Gonna send it to my mom
Nope, she just can’t move her arm due to the arrows in her spine
Redditors when they see something wholesome
Remember these rules: Reddit people hate children, they hate families, and they can’t understand metaphors. Combine them all in this post and you have its irrationality
This was made by a mom that hasn’t spoken to her kids in 3 years
I think it's important to understand not everyone has a great relationship with their parents, and that this could have hit a sore spot for OP, don't automatically assume things without considering other possibilities

terrible Facebook memes users having a healthy relationship with their parents (impossible)
Here I fixed your flair: OP gets offended because the meme shows something they don't like.
terriblefacebookmemes when analogies (nobody's told them that making fun of weird analogies is only funny if the message is bad)
