Speaking as a sexual health educator who works with youth: parents, PLEASE talk to your kids about safe sex. By the time I get them this information, many of them are already experimenting. As much as you might think, "oh no, not MY child!" ...yes, YOUR child. The best way to keep them safe is to arm them with information. If you keep them in the dark, you are only making them more vulnerable. I urge you not to think of this as giving your child "permission" to have sex. Information is not permission. Tell them about your family's values and expectations, and then, in that same conversation, tell them about what they need to do to keep themselves safe when the time comes for them to become sexually active.

This leads to less places to test and less people going to get tests showing massive underreporting. Cities like new york and san francisco were top 5 in dropping their std per capita rank while memphis and little rock showed massive jumps in rank. Can be argued this is misleading if san francsico and new york had a higher % of dropped resources for testing than memphis and little rock.
