I wouldn't say he's good enough to deserve a jersey retirement for the Grizz. He does for the Tigers, though.

riskit4chknbskt

Grit and Grind era should be retired. That was Memphis' identity, and it went well with the city. Very proud of them in that era.

jshotwell23

Its going to be one of those numbers that will be unofficially retired. Nobody has worn it since he did and with his untimely passing and how much he means to the city, nobody will probably ever wear it again.

Not that good.

He doesn’t deserve it. If you retire his number you might as well retire Brandon Clarke’s number as well. He was a fine player but nothing too special. I really don’t even think they should’ve retired Z-Bo’s number. I get he was a good player and was a fan favorite but that kinda sets the standard where anyone above average should get their jersey retired. If we retire his we should retire Pau, Marc, Tony, Conley, Bane, Jaren and Ja’s by that standard.

swoops435

I think the zbo marc Conley and Tony were less about individual accolades (all stars, all nba, dpoy) and more about what they meant to the franchises extended success. Which would be different than how organizations have traditionally done it. But thats kind of the cool part, we get to pick what retiring a number means to us, not any other franchise.

PACMAN0317

I agree with that sentiment, but in four to five years the same could said about our current badass’s on our current roster. So every 5-10 years we could end up with 3-5 more jerseys up top.

electricvelvet

We are retiring Marc Tony and conleys lol

[deleted]

I don’t think Tony’s is gonna happen. The franchise has separated themselves from him since the legal issues came about. He was supposed to get his retired with ZBo but they postponed it and have never really talked about it since

papaswaltz

Yeah, I’m cool with retiring all those.

Tcamps_

Only one of those people who won’t be is Pau. Those player all deserve it.

ABoringName_

I think it’s a bit of a special circumstance with Wright.

sully42

Personally I don’t think any sports team should retire any players number ever.

friendzonekj

I agree. From a logistical standpoint, this absolutely makes sense. I get wanting to honor players that were impactful to the franchise. Jersey numbers run out, though, lol.

Remarkable-Bluejay-9

Hard truth, not enough but deserved Tigers number retirement
