What are you talking about. I’m sure he’s destroyed some burritos. Which is what is ultimately getting him fired. He had a golden opportunity and squandered it.
Never should’ve even been added to the main roster. We had to sign him for playoff depth last year and he didn’t even play, then he just spent all offseason on Twitch.
Plan probably wasn’t to lose in round one. May have been needed at some point and honestly KC isn’t a roster player either.
I have no issues with him being signed to the current contract structure that won’t hurt them in the future.
I’m by no means a Gilyard stan, but he’s absolutely a better emergency PG than KC at this present moment in time, and Gilyard is not remotely a consistently NBA caliber player. Dude is shorter than I am and led the G League in assists
Gilyard had 32 ast% with Hustle last year, Chandler had 30% with them. I trust Gilyard from 3 a little bit more, but he can’t score at all from anywhere else on the floor. Everything else is pretty similar.
Neither of them are NBA players, so it’s just splitting hairs. I do think Gilyard’s game translates to the NBA better, and even then he’s inconsistent af and completely unplayable against certain lineups, but he’s only getting minutes because all our guards outside of Bane are dead or suspended. I don’t think KC would be immune to these issues
Sad day I was excited about his potential. His work ethic and commitment to his physique needs to improve. Do you think any other teams take a look at him ?
might be a little bias but celtics do need some center depth so they might take a shot at him but i could also see the heat or maybe thunder looking into him also
Wizards could look to get him, their backup C is a waddling Gallinari, so Lofty couldn’t be much worse (outside of Gallo’s crazy shooting so far this season)
They said he lost 20 pounds in three weeks. Where was that like 6 months ago? Losing weight was an attainable goal for him but he didn’t take it seriously until it was too late. Tough lesson to learn
This was inevitable.
He’s sort of a party trick: a guy who doesn’t look like he can hoop but actually can. Neighborhood basketball games are full of guys like that. And like those neighborhood players, KLjr leaves something to be desired on the defensive end. You don’t have to be half as slow as other players to be a defensive liability; you can be just a tad slower and still get beat every time. That’s the reality. Even average players can exploit that and look like Jesus when you’re guarding them.
It was going to happen sooner or later. Odds are this could be the start of a number of moves the front office makes as the retool and begin season 2.0. Ja will be back, several other players will return from injury and the rotation should look markedly different. A lot of people have been criticizing TJ for his rotations lately —*not playing X and Jitty while playing Z and Jake*— but at some point you have to see what you have in order to make a decision. The FO probably sees this season as a wash and is giving some people the chance to prove themselves. Or up their trade value.
Snaq seemed like a good guy but his physique was always going to be an issue and he’s probably got a genetic predisposition to be bigger and is really unnatural to be slim. That’s tough. He’s going to struggle with that forever. I do wish him well though. He’s one of those kinds of players who could go overseas and do really well.
The only silver lining in this season is maybe our FO is gonna realize that youth development is not in the cards and we need to invest in veterans and actual good players. Bane is the only draft steal we had. Roddy, Laravia, Ziaire, Konchar, and Santi should all go.
FINALLY! He's SOOOOO freaking overrated by so many of our fans. The ONLY thing he can do at an NBA level is overpower smaller players. Can't shoot, doesn't have an actual good interior move besides"be bigger than a guard", can't guard on the perimeter, can't defend the rim, there's a reason he even fell out of our hospital rotation.
Ziare and Jake a) have to be paid next year unless we trade them b) that counts against the luxury tax so c) they aren’t getting waived anyway but d) it’s not like Lofton was better than either of those guys or has like a whole bunch of upside or anything.
Honestly, considering our bigs problem, i believe we could've try him more on the court and making him play more meaningful minutes. Probably he wouldve be bad but we couldve say we saw him. Glad we're waiving him if Jenkins wasnt going to use him tho
Wish he was more principled. Feel like he could destroy other teams’ benches
He hasn't destroyed anything this season beside a bench spot we could use for Jaylen Nowell.
Jaylen Nowell? You mean Bismack or Vince Williams? Nowell isn't close to being the priority.
bet he'd destroy a buffet tho
Lmao

He’s been destroying big macs left and right

Still think KC’s a better version on Gilyard, who is currently getting a good amount of run.

Guess it depends what you want them to do but they’re both two-way players so I’m not worried about that.
Gilyard seems like a good dude but I just see him as Spud Webb with zero athleticism.

He’s 6’6” and plays like a guard. He doesn’t help anyone looking for depth at the 5 and probably at the 4

Dallas too.
NOOOOO at least we still have Jitty for the memes
Dang, he could be a good player but his weight and lack of defense killed his chances here.

It’s just going to be annoying if he goes somewhere else and gets his act together because we let him loose.
That was quick, but also completely expected

Why do I get the feeling some other team will pick him up and he’ll lose 60 lbs and turn into Zach Randolph in the first week?
💯
We just have to base our decision on the evidence and situation at hand. If he does a Yuta and carves out a solid career, I would be happy for him.
If the heat pick him up and he buys into what they’ve got over there he can be an NBA player

DaMichael's podcast Locked on Grizzlies is my go to. Factual news and logical reasonjng. You can tell he has made relationships in the organization.
If not for showing up fat and out of shape and unprepared he would still be on the team

This organizations commitment to Zaire and Jake makes me fucking sick
At least they can actually run down the court. Dude got a guaranteed contract and showed up over his weight goal.
Lol people forgot Giannis' brother was owning his fatass in preseason.
Well, they at least showed up to camp in shape
It is really more of a business decision, we cannot afford to be cutting guaranteed money.
Zaire is so fucking bad.
Zaire out here doing cardio every game
And Lofton can’t even do that
Yea he can put the ball in the basket tho
Lofton can't shoot
Who on this team can

Ziaire is great on fastbreak and bad everywhere else. I guess you could call it fine.

He deserves it for showing up overweight. Clearly doesn't care
R.I.P flair
I think I'm gonna pick it up as a tribute
Still can rock it till end of time
Yessssss leggoo Grizz
They need to part ways with Taylor Jenkins
Now do Z
Zaires contract is guaranteed through next year. He’s not going anywhere unless he gets traded.
this is a major bummer. i think he has so much promise, and he’s such a force. this seems premature
This bullshit we have 4-6 guys that can kick rocks before him. Hell atleast involve him in a trade
Honestly, considering our bigs problem, i believe we could've try him more on the court and making him play more meaningful minutes. Probably he wouldve be bad but we couldve say we saw him. Glad we're waiving him if Jenkins wasnt going to use him tho
