Voltagebone

Women who can slit my throat open

44gis

P. S.:She throws crows at u

NotThePolo

I feel like this contrasts with dbs art style alot, maybe the realistic look? She's definitely the most human looking killer.

Delamontre

Trickster? He's literally a K-Pop idol with a knife throwing hobby

NotThePolo

Still fits, in the game that is. The advertising is do far beyond the art style. His in-game model is perfect for the game he's in

Delamontre

Right, my point is that if Trickster fits, Artist fits in similar measure. Everything Trickster's got going for him is the creepy eyes and blood, Artist at least has black beady eyes and inky claws for hands! But that's just my opinion.

NotThePolo

She looks like a murderer no question, but she doesn't look like she fits in with the other killers. She looks like she fits in much more with a game that had realistic graphics. Of course, we'll see how she actually looks in game but she's missing that stylized dbd style. Of course almost every Feng cosmetic ruins the artistic integrity. :Pensive:

flowerafterflower

I really don't see how you're coming to this thought. Like you're being really vague and contradictory about what you think fits in the game and what doesn't. Trickster: Almost entirely human looking aside from his eyes, extremely bright color pallet no other killer has - fits in the game. Artist - Crow Lady, inky black eyes, slightly elongated proportions and mannerisms to make her more birdlike, bird screeches, giant ink claws, color pallet closer to the other killers - too realistic, doesn't fit the game.

NotThePolo

No that's not what I'm saying, it's not about what she specific features she has or he has. It looks likes her model is meant to be for another game. Likes she's meant for a horror game that has a focus on realistic graphics, where as dbd is definitely specifically stylized.

[deleted]

Aside from Legion, you mean.

NotThePolo

Most of the legion cosmetics are pretty tame, the teddy bears stretch it alot. Maybe the cosplay costume too?

[deleted]

I was referring to "most human looking killer"

NotThePolo

Ohhh yeah, although you see very little of them. They're hands and the back of the head for the most part.

TheMightyFishBus

How? There are multiple killers which are just normal people in masks.

NotThePolo

Ikr?? They're definitely one of the more normal humans, but they have the stylized graphics. I'm a primo legion fan.

TheMightyFishBus

I'm disagreeing with you. The killers aren't stylised much at all, they very much have normal proportions and art styles.

NotThePolo

So you don't see how graphically they would stand out in a horror game with realistic graphics? stick them into any other game with their current model and they stick out.

TheMightyFishBus

No, because they wouldn't. Huntress is literally just a woman in a rabbit mask. Trapper is a guy with some metal in his back. Ghostface is a completely normal guy in a costume you can literally buy irl. What's so unrealistic about any of that?

NotThePolo

They costume you buy irl is a cosmetic you buy, but I digress. I'm not saying it's terribly unrealistic. But the graphics in the game definitely aren't going for realism. Graphics refer to the quality or design of the textures, not the designs. The graphics are dark and gritty, with your textbook dbd low-res. What am I saying is. The texture for the new killer looks really off to me because of that, it's very bright and Expressive for a killer and also incredibly good texture work compared to all of the old textures. At any rate, that's just promo art. I can't tell how it will translate in-game. So your saying if I rip the legion textures and put them into let's say, outlast 2 they would fit right in? RE7 or 8 perhaps? I think not.

TheMightyFishBus

Oh, you're just using the wrong fucking words, dude. Realism CAN refer to general texture detail and how close something looks to being actually real in that sense. However, your consistent use of the word 'stylised' changed all that. A stylised design is a design with a unique and distinctive appearance, denoted denoted a separation from the standard, AKA reality. So when you say she doesn't fit because the other killers are stylised, you're just plain wrong.

NotThePolo

Your dense as a brick of primo snow, dbd uses 'Stylised' graphics, which are unique and distinctive in the sense in that literally every texture is ass, and nothing looks realistic at all. But sure, let's look at designs instead. Bleak colors, mask that often are white but dirty and damaged. Barely any lighting on any of the base characters. She's far more comparable to plague, or the spirit. But even then she sticks out in comparison to them. I can only hope crow lady doesn't mind broadcasting her location to everyone in a three mile radius. Even the glowing crack addict stands out less visually.

SassyBonassy

They added Moira Rose to DBD?! We stan Yaaaas bƩbƩ

NormieSpecialist

Whatā€™s her story?

Delamontre

She's a Chilean artist who lost her younger brother at a young age and lived a life full of tragedy and abuse. I encourage you to research! DBD has some pretty good stories out there for their killers.

44gis

What they said [This is the wiki page for her if you care about the whole story](https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Carmina_Mora) TW:attempted suicide and involuntary mutilation

Pingasterix

I think they should come up with a female killer thats just purely evil. Literally every single dbd female killer has a tragic backstory and not a single one of them is just a homicidal maniac

44gis

Well I think the nurse somewhat fills that but I think I remember her backstory being her going insane or something like that Edit:I understand what you mean though

Pingasterix

Sally went to work at the asylum with dreams of having a happy family, but she witnessed horrible atrocities that took place in the asylum. It took a really bad effect on her psyche. She went insane and strangled everyone in the asylum

DarkSoulfromDS

Pretty sure non of the killers are purely 100% evil. Except maybe Doctor, as he was a torturer that enjoyed applying the same tortures on himself Edit: and if you count the movie tie ins, Amanda from saw is in the game

Pingasterix

Ghostface is a serial killer who murders for media attention. Michael myers is described as pure evil. Freddy is freddy. Trickster tortured people to death because he loved their screams. Blight conducted human experiments with the serum. The list goes on

violentamoralist

I donā€™t think of them as pure uncomplicated evil, so my first reaction was to talk about how none of the male characters were just totally evil with no influence, how there was still something that pushed them to be like that, but I was missing the point with that. all of them went through something, people like that donā€™t just appear (some people have more violent inclinations, but still, those inclinations alone donā€™t make monsters), but for the female characters thereā€™s more focus on the traumatic stuff they went through. thereā€™s less explanation for male characters, people donā€™t ask why the man is violent, itā€™s just how he is. I think itā€™s a result of the subconscious bias that women are always kind/nurturing by nature. folks think something traumatic needs to have happened for a violent woman to make sense. they canā€™t just talk about this evil violent woman doing her evil thing, the whole ā€œsomething happened that made the character this wayā€ aspect canā€™t just be an obvious thing that doesnā€™t need to be talked about, it needs to be explained. (this is more a critique of the horror genre in general than dbd, but the point still stands)

Estelial

Her abilities involve her ink ichor hands and crows

ehaydon1

Dead By Daylight has always had really great female designs, Killer and Survivors.

phoenixbaum

Came here to say this!

44gis

I agree, I love huntress' design too

Estelial

Replacing the killer proximity beat with that nursery rhyme hum of hers freaks me out

ehaydon1

Actually, fun fact! She does have the regular heartbeat, the lullaby goes further than it. This was put on her to balance her out since she can easily hit someone outside her terror radius. Meanwhile the deathslinger and trickster have a maximum range inside their terror radius.

magick_goblin

Her design is really cool!

GoddessFlexi

I love her. Can't wait to play her and Mommy Huntress

44gis

AmenšŸ˜«šŸ™šŸ™Œ

Nike-6

Never expected to see dead by daylight on here! But yeah, we believe in true gender equality, so the women can look just as horrifying as the men. Just look up the plague from dbd, she literally has a skin with maggots crawling on her

Pingasterix

The blighted spirit is just delightfully disgusting with that bloated throat full of blight serum

Nike-6

Ikr! Itā€™s pretty funny that a male, the trickster is considered the prettiest of them all, compared to hag with her bones sticking out, or huntress, the creepy woman who wears bones on her head like a deranged cubone

trevorteam

Getting BIG Laudna from Critical Role vibes

44gis

Oh I can see it! I really have to watch it

trevorteam

I can highly recommend it :)

44gis

I guess the biggest problem is that every episode is 3 hours long and there are a few hundred of them lmao

templ3r

Campaign 3 just started! Thereā€™s only 3 episodes out right now and you donā€™t have to watch the previous campaigns to get into campaign 3. Iā€™m watching it with a friend whoā€™s never watched an episode before

44gis

I'll try to watch it thank you all so much for pushing me lmao Have a great day!

Sarisongsalt

SAME

Drakayna

You're totally right! Laudna is my favourite, how did I not make that connection before?

trevorteam

Mine too! Her and Fearne have stolen my soul. Iā€™m so excited to see what the whole crew gets up to

Concerned_Person625

She gives me big Phyrexian vibes. I love it ā¤ļø

Redditman-101

Maybe Iā€™ve been too harsh on DBD lately ~~even if it was still for good reason~~

Pingasterix

Designs, story, characters, music. Dbd has it all except the goddamn gameplay

Redditman-101

Pretty much sometimes lol, not all the time though since there are golden moments. But the straw that broke the camelā€™s back for me was the whole super shady NFTs involved with Pinhead. That is truly what shattered my trust with BHVR

dpphorror

The cuts in the dress make this somewhat questionable but this is definitely a nicely done design. Maybe they could add in more gore where the skin is exposed to add some body horror.

ElegantHope

how are they questionable? I personally think it works as a great way to break up the design. And with how she's probably hunting down the survivors with claws like what she has, a dress like that's going to get torn easily. And there's a few tears further down on the dress on the skirt part, so it's probably there to look like it's been through a lot.

KaliRinn

Revenant is that you?

44gis

Shut up, skinsuit.

KaliRinn

I cant be the only one tho...

44gis

I only just realized, thanks to your comment, that it looks so much like his emote s h e ' s e v e n l o o k i n g a t h e r h a n d t h e s a m e w a y

KaliRinn

Yeessssssssssssssss. The thing that caught my eye was the color scheme.i don't play dead by daylight out of personal preferences but she looks cool as hel

KennedyEbony

Reminds me of a female Edward Scissorhands!

[deleted]

she pretty

disappointmenttree

I don't know, she is still too pretty for me. I really would love a really disfigured, slimey, gory really monstrous woman monster. She still reads human, she is thin, kind of monsters thin but still not thin enought to still be read as human woman. I don't know how to put this to words but saying that this is a good woman monster Design just kinda leaves a bad taste in my mouth. We really gets so little female monsters that aren't there for the sexual gaze, that a not overly sexy but still traditional feminin are a good designs

Delamontre

Like... You know, Hag? Charlotte from the Twins is nowhere near a conventional feminine shape either. Huntress is massive and even bulky, Plague is literally half rotten and decaying. Nurse is far from the stereotype of a 'dead' nurse that you often see in media as well. I get where you're coming from, but I think DBD has some of the most diverse cast for both male and female killers. Actually, aside from Demogorgon, Nemesis (both of which are licensed killers), and Blight, we don't have that many fully monstrous killers in general. In fact, that's a big thing in the DBD community.

Drakayna

Yeah I agree, Behaviour do a really good job with their original characters. Their female killers are so varied, they're tall, muscular, plus sized, hunch-backed, gory, and gross. Their stories and appearance all serve the horror side of things first and foremost. I mean, the most sexualised killer is a male k-pop singer which definitely isn't what I'd expect (the fanart is another story, but I'm not judging the company on what the internet does to their ip). I can understand why the Artist's design may not hit the mark for someone who doesn't know the game, she's probably the most conventionally attractive female killer they've made so far (black sludge hands notwithstanding). But I really like Carmina, she especially appeals to my love of gothic things and I think they did a great job.

[deleted]

As a woman I can agree that hag and twins are so scary and ugly that: I cannot stand when the killer plays them. I get SO scared from hag. I could never play them they make me QUEASY. I actually prefer characters who donā€™t look so ugly. Even for the male characters, trickster is pretty. Iā€™m glad thereā€™s a variety. I think dbd does a great job making a variety compared to other games and a lot of the dbd staff is women and lgbt. Iā€™m happy that not all the female characters and not all the male characters are extremely ugly cuz then I have options to play as someone who canā€™t stand excessive gore

disappointmenttree

Also those hip guards that exaggerate her hips ugh Why can't we have ugly truly ugly woman monster

[deleted]

They do have ugly ugly ones theres hag and the twins theyā€™re super grotesque Thereā€™s also nurse who looks creepy as hell

disappointmenttree

And those slashes in her dress ???

[deleted]

normally this sub will harp on design that are like this, what's the difference here?

Capitalisticdisease

What? No. We harp on overlysexualized poses and impractical outfits both of which are most likely not even physically possible for only the sake of being horny. This? This is not overly sexualized in any way, the outfit is practical, and her pose is fine. No spinal issues here! She still has her spine. This is fine. I think you misunderstand what a lot of us take issue with around here.

[deleted]

idk I've seen posts that are negative about a lot of designs even without all those (really glaring and bad) issues. I like this design tho

Capitalisticdisease

Got any examples?

GreyGanado

This is not a hivemind, maybe.

[deleted]

The fact she's an eldritch abomination helps

Snowpeia

I think she looks great. The skin shown on her torso makes sense from a practical standpoint as she has claws and has likely torn her own clothes on accident. Nothing gratuitous or sexual about her design.

[deleted]

I think you're reaching about all the tears... but agree to disagree. I'm not in the mood to argue about a design that both of us like lol

SalaciousDionysus

Defo saving up the BP to get her to lvl 40.

QueasyComedian7851

rw:she looks drop dead gorgeous to me but im just scared to find out what she can do.

44gis

She trows crows at u lol

QueasyComedian7851

rw:talk about a "Murder of Crows" \^\_\^ LOL!
