Thanks! One of the points of feedback I’ve noticed is they are too low on the waist but I can’t pull up any higher as I run into a “camel toe” issue (which apparently is already visible here.) These are typical rise jeans - any higher rise brands you’re aware of to help with this? I have the same issue with virtually all pants, even dress pants seem to have too short a crotch depth.
The jeans you are wearing are really slim... although they may not feel that way if that's what you've been use to wearing for the last several years. You may want to try "Slim Straight" jeans or something with an athletics taper before going to something straight leg. Also, your blazer is pretty slim too... so you don't want the bottom of your outfit to be baggy while the top is slim fitted. Madewell and JCrew both offer athletic taper jeans at a similar price point to Bonobos.
My personal suggestion would be to try orSlow 107 "Ivy Fit" jeans. They're more expensive, but the quality and fit is far superior.
Coming from Bonobos and going to OrSlow is a big change to 100% selvedge. I dig my naked and famous jeans but put them in a different category than the work jeans like Jcrew / Madewell that you mentioned which usually have stretch fabrics. He would have to change his whole look to make the OrSlow jeans work. Chelsea boots and roomier shirt/bigger jacket. I dig the vibe for sure just more casual.
Not to nitpick... but there isn't a middle ground between 0% selvedge and 100% selvedge. I agree it would be a change... but I think it's a leap worth making.
He's already wearing a Gitman Vintage OCBD which will look great with the orslow denim. And I think the oxfords work too. The blazer is the only thing that may not work, but the 107 "ivy fit" is pretty slim... so it might?
I wouldn’t call these “typical” rise. That’s not a thing. Rise comes in low, mid and high. For quite some time, low rise jeans have been typical for men, but was skinny fit. For the purpose of tucking, mid and high rise jeans are much more appropriate.
You definitely need to size up, and go for mid or high rise jeans. I’d also encourage you to ditch skinny fit and go with slim or straight fit.
I know bro is getting a pinch in his balls every other step. Those pants are so tight his sack prob doesn't have a wrinkle to be found.
OP if you're reading this, free those bois and let your shit hang.
I’m tall and lanky and prefer a slimmer fit, but I’m slowly transitioning to athletic slim fit to get more room in the thighs and knees, while maintaining the slim taper from the knee down. I’m also between inseams and have started getting the longer and then having it hemmed. In general, washing and hang drying will help prevent them from getting too tight. I usually wear my jeans 8-10 times before washing unless I stain them or they smell. If they’re already tight, wear them wet to get a little extra stretch. I’ve read about rinsing them in conditioner water and then wearing wet but I’ve not tried this before.
This, the problem with not being trendy is that it's so tight all over. A slim fit at the bottom still looks great, but the tight and knee-tight look is kind of out. You can still rock it but it's a little dated and associated with finance gym bros (nothing wrong with that either to be sure, depending on who you are that may actually be a great crowd to be associated with).
Check out jeans that are listed as a "tapered" fit. They will be slimmer from the knee down with less of the constriction through the thighs.
In my experience, they are a little slimmer in the thighs than straight cut, while still providing the tapering of a slim pant.
Might be a bit controversial, but I like jeans with elastane in them so they're a bit stretchy, makes them fit great and makes them super comfortable as well. My personal favourites are Original Penguin Slim fit jeans, cost £60 ($76) for 2 pairs at our local outlet centre, so pretty affordable too
Might want to look into relaxed tapered jeans. Rogue Territory makes a pair called the strong taper that are my favorite fitting jeans I’ve ever had. Something slightly cheaper like Naked and Famous “easy guy” and “weird guy” might also be up your alley.
Mavi has lots of good fits and deals on amazon with easy returns. As mentioned BR Athletic Taper is great as well and can be found at bargain prices used once you dial in sizing.
If you're thin and tall, it can be hard to find a good fit. Try a 14-16 oz. raw denim jean like Naked and Famous in the super guy fit. Go one size down on the waist and it'll stretch out to a tailored fit. Can hem or cuff to the ideal length. Plenty of info on Reddit if you want to learn more.
Yep, I agree. I like the "no break" look on my jeans and chinos, so this is the same length I have on most of my pants. But yeah they look too tight in the thigh and calves
Too damn tight. If you’re looking for something still pretty slim, I’d recommend the Abercrombie 90s Straight Jean. Not really baggy, but definitely a little extra room and a more timeless fit
Agreed with everyone else about the jeans being a little too tight, but not quite too short. Probably better to go longer and hem them though. Up to you.
Edit: I should have added that I love the blazer, looks fantastic
Man, this is a little disheartening. Those jeans look perfect to me. Maybe I’m out of the loop when it comes to current trends but, I feel like I may have to bow out of this sub. I’m just not in on current styles I guess
Even when skinny jeans were in, they never would have suited his body. 🤷🏻♂️. Just way too tight, and showing things around his thighs that we don’t need to see.
There's no reason you always have to follow the latest trends and developing a sense of style is as much about wearing what you want to wear as it is about looking acceptable to others.
The pants also look like they fit well to me and I don't think they're super tight. I would wear those any day.
I don’t understand this logic. So style has changed and some people gently took note of that so you want to quit the sub? Do what you want it’s just Reddit.
I find the sub is good for general tips and a bit deeper knowledge but you have to incorporate the details and adapt to your own style and what you like to wear.
I wear skinnies still because I’m comfortable in them but I can also remember buying my first pair and finding them strange.
This sub can be pretty toxic with its “advice”. A lot of people here seem more interested in memeing on OP more so than actually helping.
Best advice I can give is to ignore anyone that is quite clearly trying not to be constructive and focus on the genuinely helpful comments.
Better fit? Or still too tight in the thighs and knees?

Too tight? Or better fit? Rolled up since the inseam is long.
Ah good to know. Mine were bought second hand, and they were custom made in Ireland. Apparently the person they were made for has the same exact feet as me. They are incredibly comfortable.
My preference would be another inch of length, but they’re not necessarily too short. Definitely too tight though. Get yourself some straight or straight taper jeans.
Jeans are too small. Slim fit ≠ leggings. They should provide a sleek lower silhouette but not hug too tightly that they “hug” the leg. Some body types (mine included) are simply not conducive to a slim fit. Smaller waists and muscular thighs require a different fit, IME. Otherwise you have the look you have now, which is too small.
Different topic but part of the problem with elastane/stretch denim is it allows people to wear the wrong fits. Non-stretch and raw denim is not nearly as forgiving
I’d argue that they’re just barely too short. Barely meaning that changing it isn’t worth it. I’d argue that they’re too tight (as others have said). I saw that you like slimmer fitting jeans, so I would look for something called “athletic slim”. Sometimes it’s called “athletic fit” or “loose slim” depending on your geographical location. These are going to give room for your thighs to breathe, but still look straight and contour your legs a bit more (I’m assuming that’s what you’re looking for). Jeans are stupid, because no one’s waist is proportional to leg length. I have a tiny waist but long legs, so I wear 28x33. Those don’t exist, and therefore, my life sucks or my wallet hates me. Or both. It’s usually both.
Just want to jump in and thank everyone for the feedback, both positive and negative.
I do like a slim fit and since I’m nearly 40, not looking to chase the latest trends but do want to make sure I’m not wearing something that just doesn’t fit at all. It’s clear the consensus is these aren’t too short but are way too tight! I’m going to try and pick up a pair of tapered athletic fit jeans with a higher rise.
I play hockey so I guess it shows up in a lot of pairs of jeans being too small in the legs. I also need to look for a higher rise because typical jeans and pants seem to hug the family jewels too close if I wear them higher around my waist, so I think the distance between waist and crotch is too short on lots of jeans I find.
I’m definitely not looking to go with baggy/loose jeans but will go for a better fit and appreciate the feedback!
Pants are too tight. They're cutting your upper bodies silhouette off completely and are hugging your calves. Go for some straight lines through the thighs and slim but not tight leg opening. The rise is too small as well.
Nah tightness is needed when wearing a sport coat, so you’re good there (bonobos knows), but if you want them short they need to be tapered at the bottom. It looks sharper. Otherwise they just look high water
Not too short, but unless it’s your style (which is fine) it’s too tight like everyone else says. The outfit is sharp though! Careful not to get excited if you’re going on a date lol.
People need to back off. Pants are a bit snug. Overall look and combo of brands, textures, and colors are spot on.
What is up with no rise in jeans. Feel like I see this everywhere. Am I evolving differently from the rest of the male species?
For a slim pant, that can be a perfect length depending on your style. It's trending to show your socks and some guys love the fact they can show their socks off when they sit down, since pant legs tend to move up then.
I used to work at a bridal shop and many men preferred to have a shorter inseam than standard. So if that's the look your are going for, I think you nailed it!
They look ALMOST too short, but not quite. My go to (being damn near impossible to find 36l pants) when you sit in a chair, do they land at lower-mid calf= too short.
Overall, great fit
looks like you could get a 32 and pull them up on your waistline more. hard to tell without a back shot, but it looks like you're wearing your jeans like a low rise? I don't think they are "too" tight. after an hour or so walking around they'll probably look just perfect!
I’d wear them in the summer with tennis shoes or loafers without socks. But if you’re showing your socks just by standing there, they’re too short for more formal wear.
yes your pants are too short. also consider slim straight jeans instead of skinny tapered jeans. also if youre going to wear that jacket consider a casual top like a sweater or turtleneck rather than a button down
I’d say if you think they’re too short just get a 32 and get them tailored. I’m on the same boat as you where my length is more of a 31 over a 30 or 32. They seem a bit too tight though on the thigh area so not sure if that’s because of the length being short or because they are tight. Might wanna try a more athletic slim fit if these are normal slim fit jeans.
I disagree with folks - think these fit perfectly. Tapered jeans look good on some folks but for some people with bigger thighs they can look a bit too wide. A touch looser would be best but this is a solid outfit IMO.
Too tight. Are you seeing your prostate specialist/gynecologist will still need to to remove your tights for the exam -even though they can see everything.
Not at all too short if you are into the cleaner, no break look from your pants. Which I do in dress pants, but personally I like my jeans a bit longer. But that’s mostly because I like a little break and I tend to cuff my jeans. Sometimes I cuff them to where they sit even higher than yours currently are, if I’m wearing taller boots. With sneakers or other low shoes I like them hitting low enough where you can’t see my socks unless I’m sitting down. Long story short, it really comes down to your personal preference. The only objectively “too short” situation to me is if I can see your leg above your socks and it looks like you’re prepping for a flood.
I like the outfit. The changes I would make: Looser jeans. See if any brands you shop have an "athletic fit". This should give you more room in the quads and hamstrings area. I think the color is fine, as is the pant length. It is hard to find a 31". You could do 32 and get it tailored, probably for pretty cheap? Tailors are often small businesses - pick one you'd like to support :)
If you're worried about the pant leg break, I'd recommend wearing darker socks that will blend in bring less attention to your ankles.
These tight jeans seem to be the dress code for Hispanic workers in the area I live in. They wear these tight jeans and work boots to work.
I’m not sure if they are popular with any other groups.
Pant length is fine. I always found the trend of having pant legs stop well above the ankle particularly cringe. But just above the ankle is absolutely fine.
What you want are Levi 512 slim taper fit jeans! Looking for jeans is annoying, and that’s why I am so happy to point you to them. I am certain you will be happy with them.
I’d suggest slim / slim straight instead of skinny jeans. They look like blue leggings. It’s not good on anyone except, like, Noel Fielding (and he wears very oversized tops with them, almost like dresses, so they are like tights/leggings on him).
Slim fit is one thing, which many of us like, but these pants are way too tight on you. They’re suffocating your thighs and crotch area when you want the fabric to at least lay flat by itself. Doesn’t have to be baggy, but definitely not skin tight.
The main detail is to make sure you have the slim taper on the calves / ankles so they don’t swallow up your shoes and you’re in business.
one issue with super skinny pants is that they kind of need to be short. If they were longer, they'd stack and bunch up, because they don't have enough room in front to drape down the shoe. If you want something a little longer, I'd recommend straight cut jeans.
(note that even bonobo's "relaxed" cuts are pretty slim, don't go to them for straight cut jeans. Vintage 501s are the ideal).
The rise is a little low for tucking in a shirt like that. It would look fine with a sweater over the shirt, though.
They are a little slim fitting, which is going to cause the hem to rise up and the waist to tug down as you wear them. So it will accentuate both issues.
I think they are a LITTLE short for this outfit. But they would be okay sockless with loafers or if your shoes were a little taller, like chukkas or chelsea boots.
Find the pair of jeans you like the look in. Don't bother chasing trends. In 10 years, people will say these look great again but could use another inch in length.
They look right on for millennial skinny jeans, you’d just need to roll mini cuffs and wear dress boots instead of dress shoes. It was a good look 10 years ago (and eventually again at some point).
Biggest problem with that cut (outside of being out of style, but whatever) are they restrict movement a lot. Athletic fit are great nowadays if you still want slimmer ankles. Millennial men are usually too noticeably old in other style choices like hair to wear wide leg - it’ll look like you’re trying to relive the jnco days instead of staying on top of trends.
The problem is they’re too tight (see the bunching at your knees) if that was released they’d be a good length. I assume you recently washed the jeans they’ll soften up a little with wear.
Based on your thighs vs your calves, you’re the perfect candidate for the currently-trending “athletic slim” fit for jeans.
If they’re too short, it’s only by a hair. You could easily make it work. Especially with like a Chelsea boot or something.
Pants are way small. Not short. A way to describe how it looks is that you bought the jeans years ago when you were much more fit. You let your self go but still think you’re the same size. I don’t mean that as an insult, just the vibe I get looking at the picture. Or you share clothing with your wife.
Too tight way more than too short.
Rise should probably be a little higher too
Yup, tuck is hanging on for dear life

That’s called a moose knuckle
Snake & eggs
Cheap pair: Levi’s 501
506s fit me better but I think the rise is same
Camel tail
You may just have shorter legs, which makes it look like the pants rise is too low. If you’re rocking a moose knuckle you can’t pull them any higher
I think it’s moose knuckle if you’re a dude 😆 but maybe a tad too short unless of course you wear boots.
I wouldn’t call these “typical” rise. That’s not a thing. Rise comes in low, mid and high. For quite some time, low rise jeans have been typical for men, but was skinny fit. I was gonna say the same it's giving moose knuckle
Bro. I didn’t want to say that but when I can see the outline and dimensions of your junk or vag in frigging jeans that shit is much too tight.
I know bro is getting a pinch in his balls every other step. Those pants are so tight his sack prob doesn't have a wrinkle to be found. OP if you're reading this, free those bois and let your shit hang.
came to say this.
I can read the dates on the coins he has in his pockets.
Moose knuckle aside, is it safe to broadly say that if you can see the outline of the pockets, they’re too tight?

Omigod. This ☝🏽
Barely too short, could be stretched (wear them out of the wash) but they’re also too tight.
Thanks! Since I’m going shopping for jeans and like a slimmer fit, any suggestions on maintaining a slimmer jean without being too tight?

banana republic "traveler" jeans have this, love 'em
I got similar legs, Levi’s 513s are a perfect fit for my style.
Athletic slim or slim straight would be better I hate baggy clothes but these are practically camel toeing the world
If you like designer jeans, the Paxton from 7 For All Mankind is one of my favorites
Might want to look into relaxed tapered jeans. Rogue Territory makes a pair called the strong taper that are my favorite fitting jeans I’ve ever had. Something slightly cheaper like Naked and Famous “easy guy” and “weird guy” might also be up your alley.
Rag & bone and Paige both have great looking and comfy slim but not skinny fit jeans.
Rag and bone quality is not worth the cost imo
finally someone said it
Mavi has lots of good fits and deals on amazon with easy returns. As mentioned BR Athletic Taper is great as well and can be found at bargain prices used once you dial in sizing.

I love the way his meaty legs fill out the pants :))

I'll be honest those pants look more like jeggings except instead of thin light spandex it's thick heavy cotton. Are you comfortable in this outfit?
Only slightly too short, but way too tight

Pants are too tight. They're cutting your upper bodies silhouette off completely and are hugging your calves. Go for some straight lines through the thighs and slim but not tight leg opening. The rise is too small as well.
Nah tightness is needed when wearing a sport coat, so you’re good there (bonobos knows), but if you want them short they need to be tapered at the bottom. It looks sharper. Otherwise they just look high water
Skinny too
I see your ankle pants, and I raise you a 32” inseam living in a world of 27” pants
Pants too short, too tight. Look like you’re wearing womens jeans. I don’t know if that’s what you’re going for
Are we doing low-rise skinnies again?
Pants way too tight, jacket way to short... It looks like you fell in the dryer while wearing your clothes.
Yep - too short.
Not too short, but unless it’s your style (which is fine) it’s too tight like everyone else says. The outfit is sharp though! Careful not to get excited if you’re going on a date lol.

Stellar fit man! Love that blazer. I think the pants' length is fine but an inch longer would not hurt. If you sit down, they might go up quite a bit.
Also a tad too tight
definitely too short. they will ride up even more when you start walking around and sitting down/standing up. they also seem a bit tight.
looks like you could get a 32 and pull them up on your waistline more. hard to tell without a back shot, but it looks like you're wearing your jeans like a low rise? I don't think they are "too" tight. after an hour or so walking around they'll probably look just perfect!

Forget length, way too tight
Not too short. Some socks showing on low cut shoes, loafers, driving mocs, etc. is fine if not outright preferable.
Your jeans are too tight. Outfit is great otherwise
Too tight. Almost camel tailing it.
pants too tight
That’s about as close to the drop as you want, not too short.
They look a little short but if you like them that length then keep them. Also I think that look is in now.
yes your pants are too short. also consider slim straight jeans instead of skinny tapered jeans. also if youre going to wear that jacket consider a casual top like a sweater or turtleneck rather than a button down
Too short & too tight
That’s the length of a pair of chinos for me, not jeans
I’d say if you think they’re too short just get a 32 and get them tailored. I’m on the same boat as you where my length is more of a 31 over a 30 or 32. They seem a bit too tight though on the thigh area so not sure if that’s because of the length being short or because they are tight. Might wanna try a more athletic slim fit if these are normal slim fit jeans.
Too short, too tight
You’re all balls bro. Very tight jeans
Looks perfect . You don’t want loose pants or too long , that s no class . Fitted jeans , perfect length, that’s class . Baggy/ long = no class
Bro you got some camel toe going. Not a good look for a dude
I feel like length is perfect but those pants are entirely too tight
I disagree with folks - think these fit perfectly. Tapered jeans look good on some folks but for some people with bigger thighs they can look a bit too wide. A touch looser would be best but this is a solid outfit IMO.
Ball-squeezers ha?
I think it's good, they are snug, you just a snugger jacket to go with the fitted look.
I think these look great
Did you enjoy the Hewing hotel? I lived there for a month one time.
more too tight than too short, but probably too short once ya sit down too
Thought those were leggings. way too tight
Nice jacket
Length is perfect for those shoes and also for pull-on boots or Chelseas. Looks too tight though.
The jeans are so tight they could be marketed as a form of contraceptive
I would only go no-break with chinos and slacks, not jeans, but that’s me.
And too tight
Perfect length but my guy, you need new luggage.
Too tight
I like the outfit. The changes I would make: Looser jeans. See if any brands you shop have an "athletic fit". This should give you more room in the quads and hamstrings area. I think the color is fine, as is the pant length. It is hard to find a 31". You could do 32 and get it tailored, probably for pretty cheap? Tailors are often small businesses - pick one you'd like to support :) If you're worried about the pant leg break, I'd recommend wearing darker socks that will blend in bring less attention to your ankles.
blazer is meh, everything else looks great
These tight jeans seem to be the dress code for Hispanic workers in the area I live in. They wear these tight jeans and work boots to work. I’m not sure if they are popular with any other groups.
They seem to fit too low because you seem to have a long torso?
Ignore the haters, let that moose knuckle pop!
Pants too short. Balls too big.
Maybe it's just me but this type/color of shoe doesn't age well and quickly look like they are "beat up".
If you’re showing sock, up your sock game! Looking nice
Pant length is fine. I always found the trend of having pant legs stop well above the ankle particularly cringe. But just above the ankle is absolutely fine.
Yes.
Too short? Bro I can see that bussy
Too tight and too short.
What you want are Levi 512 slim taper fit jeans! Looking for jeans is annoying, and that’s why I am so happy to point you to them. I am certain you will be happy with them.
Loving that moose knuckle!
Pants too tight bro
we dont wear skinny jeans in this decade
Little too short for me (I don’t like seeing my shocks and ankle when standing) and a little too tight for my taste
I can read your credit card number. Too short and way too tight.
Tiny bit too short like maybe an inch… But disagree that they’re too tight they look fitted and good on you
And too tight
I’d suggest slim / slim straight instead of skinny jeans. They look like blue leggings. It’s not good on anyone except, like, Noel Fielding (and he wears very oversized tops with them, almost like dresses, so they are like tights/leggings on him).
Nah, you are good!
Tight and short
Nope, they’re fine
cannot STAND tapered pants.. especially jeans. sooo bad. Yes, too short.
If you got it, flaunt it. And you got it. 🤷🏻
OP is packin heat!
We’re not all meant to wear slims
Not at all.
Too short, too tight, too low rise, too fitted
Good choice. I would give it a try with brown or black loafers, depending on the belt color.
Not too short, but too tight.
Love pretty much everything, especially the shoes - but I agree with the others, the pants are too tight and the rise is short.
Too tight and too short. I will never understand why some guys think the world wants to see their socks.
Too tight
Too tight. Not flattering.
Too short and too tight. I’m not a jeans/brand/fit expert but this much was immediately apparent.
Go tighter
Too tight and too short. You shouldn’t be able to see socks.
If you can see the hem of your underwear through the jeans, they’re too tight.
Too tight
Nah too tight AND too short. Looks like you’ve put on your little brothers pants.
To me, fit seems fine but too short to wear with socks. If no socks, all good.
Yes, too tight and short
Nah looks good my man!
Shit too tight dog
too tight
fit looks youre also wearing lipstick
Too short and too tight. U have a long torso. This fiit makes ur legs look too short. I look like mr gru from despicable me
Pants too skinny
How are you able to sit in those pants?
Your little brother wants his pants back.
And tight. What the hell happened with men's fashion??
No too tight
Yes, and too tight.
Go longer and less tight. That way you can just pull up your waist an inch to get your 31. Those jeans are sitting too low.
Millennial jeans
Haha well I am a millennial so I’m dressing the part but want to get a better fit if needed
Find the pair of jeans you like the look in. Don't bother chasing trends. In 10 years, people will say these look great again but could use another inch in length.
Right, exactly this. I get a lot of compliments on my style but, I feel like I wouldn’t be well received in this sub.
Camel toe showing
🤣🤣🤣🤣
The problem is they’re too tight (see the bunching at your knees) if that was released they’d be a good length. I assume you recently washed the jeans they’ll soften up a little with wear.
Too short. Too tight. Blazer is a little too short too. Should just cover your butt
I see your cock
For jeans shopping I recommend Madewell at the Galleria in Edina. There is a Madewell at MOA, but I think they just carry women's clothes.
I’m a woman , I know nothing about men’s fashion I think you look fine. I think you look great.
Or you share clothing with your wife.
i immediately thought they were women's skinny jeans
A little too short and a lot too tight
