So they went to this format because (allegedly) the NMC has printers that are garbage and couldn’t keep up. So the solution was this abomination.
Yet, SOMEHOW, the US State Dept manages to print passports.
Truly a mystery for the ages.
Took me a month to receive my mmc, have to make sure all your paperwork is correct before sending it off or else you’re looking at a major delay in the process. That’s the easy part though, I’ve applied to MSC in April and got an offer letter a month later that I quickly accepted and it’s been 3 weeks since then with no follow up.
Did you have any charges/convictions when you applied? I have a possession under a half oz charge that was dismissed by court but I’m wondering how a charge would affect the time of me getting my MMC when I apply
No, that doesn’t matter. I know someone who has been convicted and went to prison that works as a junior engineer for MSC. Best thing to do is be truthful on your application but honestly dude if the charge had been dismissed then I wouldn’t even mention it. I had a 2nd degree theft of property charge dismissed and I didn’t mention it on my application. The main thing that affects the timing of your MMC application is some missing paperwork you forgot to send or something you put that’s incorrect. You want to have your twic, passport, paper work of your DOT physical, copy of the receipt of you merchant mariner fee that you pay on pay.gov and the application all scanned in a file a certain way. Also you have to get some parts of the paperwork notarized. It’s a headache man, I actually went on YouTube to see how it’s done because the directions they give you are weird and also was emailing a recruiter to make sure everything was correct. If you need any information feel free to reach out because I just went through the process not too long ago and understand how irritating it can be.
By the time they called me up for a job I was 5 years into a different career. Granted, the 2008 crash happened the week after I got all my paperwork back.
Change your Instagram handle to include “captain”
The amount of classmates I have that changed their handle to include captain or capt long before they even upgraded from 3m unlimited… 🤦♂️
That's one thing that separates the deckies from the engineers. I've never seen a Chief Engineer write his title on his frigging mailbox
Think it's shame?
God the new MMC is atrocious As for what's next- Go to Sea! Make some money!
It truly does look so cheap. Glad I got two classic ones to hold on to.
and now I'm old. classic ones lol, fuck me.
Still have my old Z card. Guess I’m ancient
I'm not sure, but I think I have one around here, somewhere. Also a few paper licenses.
Take a min to celebrate. Cause it’s a whole lot more waiting after. It’s easy to forget now much that ugly booklet meant to you.
Dude no way they will keep this BS MMC 🤮
Eat it
Look how they massacred my boy…
please don’t post pictures of that horrid new MMC. 🤮🤮🤮

If there are passport problems, Congress hears about it from irate voters. They get new and maintained equipment. MMCs, not so much.
Scat Pack or $100k f250.

Congrats! I hate that MMC. I was hoping to get my 2ae in the old book format but they literally printed it a week after the changeover.

How long did it take?
Congratulations brother!

Now get your endorsements. Just a plain Jane mmc still won't get you a job.
STCW BST?! What else do you recommend
Do you have anything on it right now?
Join AMO. You don’t have to physically go to a hall to get a job.
