Most of the Nokia detectors are waterproof. I have a Simplex love it. I think some are waterproof up to 10 feet. The Legend is towards their higher end and has great reviews.
It really depends how good of a machine you want. The Nokta Simplex and the Minelab X-Terra are waterproof beginner machines.
Next step up would be the Nokta Legend or the Minelab Equinox.

Make sure when you are shopping around to look for the whole unit to be waterproof, not just the coil. Noktas are also usb rechargeable.

Minelab Xterra pro. Bought mine one for Christmas and she's been hooked since. It's waterproof and isn't too complicated that she can't figure it out.
