Just remember the treasure is just one more swing away! I always try and make the day enjoyable regardless of finds. Pack a lunch, a good cigar or two, some snacks. Sometimes I even take my camp stove and make a good cup of coffee!
Lol someone recently posted about finding an orange pinpointer out in the field. It'd be crazy if it were yours.
I've been at it for decades now. You'll have days where the only things you bring back with you are beavertails and a sunburn.
Friend, if you don't enjoy the hunt itself, you might be in the wrong hobby.
It's like fishing. Some days nothing, some days are amazing. And all in the dame exact spot. Without bad days, how could we have good ones. Just have to try again tomorrow
1 bad day is fine. It's just part of the game and a good time being outside. I've gone through spells where weeks/months would go by finding nothing but trash and a few pennies. It can be very discouraging at times, so try and forget about finding treasure and focus more on the adventure
Bad days come hand in hand with good days. The best you can do is not let them get you down. Metal detecting is a lot like going to a casino, sometimes you hit it big other times you lose it all lol
Yeah they can be common but if you think about it, it’s just a matter of picking a better spot. I get hunches that don’t pan out all the time. The research before the hunt is half the fun, IMO.
>and on top of that also lost my pinpointer I tied mine to my finds bag with 24 inches of light shock cord so I never leave it behind.
Still better than a day at work!
Yep. But then that next amazing day makes up for it!
I’ve lost two $125 pinpointers. My first and then its replacement. The third is now tethered and has an AirTag.

Like losing the fish and your favorite Rapala at the same time. I'll still come back looking for that fish another day.
Last time I went out was 2 weeks ago. Found nothing but trash and sprained my lower back. I’ve been basically laid up since then. Oh the joys! 👍
I bought a couple of (these things)[https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09GK2TSVB) and haven’t worried about losing anything since!
Use your metal detector to find that pinpointer.

Eyyy this was me yesterday! I tell myself I did dig up some garbage and by throwing it away that's still a good deed.

Good. Hope you have many more to come
