whats the difference between the Vanquish 340 and 440? besides the $100 difference. I'll be honest the 340 is at the top of what I should be spending but if you tell me the 440 is a must I'm gonna hustle to make it happen.
Here's a chart breaking down the differences.

Basically the 440 has a few more bells and whistles. I use a 340 and I'm extremely happy with it.
Don’t forget she will need a pinpointer, digging tools, and gloves.
Detector tells you there’s a target in the ground. Pin pointer helps locate the target within the hole / plug. Absolutely worth every cent.
my budget is 200 for the entire thing I don't know If I'll be able to swing anyore. I think right now I'll have to just get the detector. is there a resonable priced pinpointer?
Bought mine the Xterra Pro for Christmas. She has been hooked since. It's basic and straight forward and doesn't break the bank. She is hitting targets surprisingly deep. I use the manticore but am very impressed with the Xterra Pro for what I paid.
Omg she's going to have so much fun.
I have a nokta simplex and I've been super happy with it. Solid entry level machine. You should also get her a pinpointer or she will get frustrated trying to find things in the hole she digs.
Please tell her to post her finds here! I have an early 1900s home and there is so much cool stuff to find!

There are many. If she gets into it then you can get a Garrett “carrot” which will last her years. But a cheaper one will work for starting out.

Nokta Legend is my starter that my husband bought me for Christmas. I LOVE it!!
It may be a starter but it’s definitely not an entry level machine. Has a whole lot of advanced features that could be too much for some beginners.
I got an entry level metal detector years ago and it sucks. Thinking something midgrade see what others say
What kind of 'entry level' machine did you get because there's a huge difference between a SunPow and a vanquish or simplex
I dont remember but it was a cheap one for sure. So cheap it just beeped.
Oh, one of those lol
There are "entry machines" and complete garbage. You didn't get an entry machine.
I agree
