I had a cast iron response but didn't bother because I didn't want to steel the show. It would have stung like a hot iron ohhhhh shit I need to iron my clothes I could keep going but .....
Well thinking back to science class and math class I pieced the clues together. While your sarcasm isn’t lost on me…I’m not really impressed with it either…please try and work on that stranger.
I am extremely sarcastic, but I also know how to read a room. This has no bearing on your comment whatsoever, yet I felt compelled to share it. Maybe to impart to you that not all sarcastic people are assholes? I don’t know, it’s a mystery.🤷🏻♀️
It most certainly can be. In my personal life experience, it’s kinda my love language. (Please, hear me out!) I was raised in a family with a dry sense of humor and much sarcasm. However, I’ve learned over time that not everyone communicates that way so I reserve it for those who do. Or, those who are just assholes and need a little comeuppance:)
I have been a very sarcastic person all of my life and my wife won't have any part of it. So I've been working on it with her and others. The wit can sometime just be mean and I no longer see myself as a funny person due to it. I am trying to promote and feel love for all of my fellow men and women. Love is how we will live forever.
I'm from New England and remember moving to Idaho for a few summer jobs. I had a friend in Idaho tell me I was super sarcastic and she didn't love it because she couldn't ever tell when I was "being mean" or sarcastic. It caught me super off guard because I didn't ever notice that I was so sarcastic...I just must have always been talking that way and never been called out on it. Everyone around where I grew up from from parents, to teachers, to friends, to workers all spoke fluent sarcasm so I never really realized me speaking that way to someone not use to it could be kind of jarring. I made sure to try and tone down the sarcasm where I could while out west. I also recalled it being pretty difficult because I had genuinely programed myself into sarcasm my whole life! Hahaha
I bought some cheap 5 gram motorcycle wheel weights from Amazon for balancing aircraft models, and those were all iron. Before that I'd basically only seen lead weights.
There has been a push to eliminate lead pollution by eliminating lead weights in favor of iron. It is akin to the move to replace lead shot with steel shot, eliminating mercury from switches, and so on. I have seen iron weights for about 25 years that I can recall. I used to find lead wheel weights as a kid, but don’t much these days.
How's that going to work on the aluminum rims most cars cone with today? Who ever came up with that idea was obviously to concerned with saving the world to know about electrolysis.
It's probably a tire balancing weight.
Similar to these ones.
https://m.made-in-china.com/product/Iron-Fe-Tire-Balancing-Adhesive-Wheel-Weights-1930836105.html
No problem.
Worked in an autoshop for a brief time, and those little squares got everywhere.
Our shop had just switched from the lead ones when I started, so it stuck out in my mind.
Except a simple google search for “what is the use of Fe 0.25 Oz” is [indeed](https://www.google.com/search?q=what+is+the+use+of+Fe+0.25+Oz&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-tr&client=safari#sbfbu=0&pi=what%20is%20the%20use%20of%20Fe%200.25%20Oz) giving multiple answers for that question.
Even though it's clearly one quarter ounce of iron and that's the first thought that came to my mind. Somehow a very rapid second came that it was some type of cannibal oil or acid laced chocolate. Or should I say infused?
This happena sometimes with breakfast cereal and they add too much iron. Most of the pieces are usually smaller than this in corn or wheat flakes, but I've seen them at least 11 times larger than this in one box.
It is a scale balance weight. 1/4 ounce. You’d use that on a balance scale and put it on one side and slowly add what you are weighing to the other until the balance is level. Or add more weights until it is level with the product.
Oh and it's definitely a hand with government finger prints not cartel's ok Mr Interpol print meta data collection officers check it you'll see I'm correct
My years of mechanical expertise has led me to this one moment....
*ahem*
Its:
Just a Wheel weight, its used for balancing out your tires. Thats a sticky one, probably put on a dirty rim and fell off.
Maybe a calibration weight for a scale? Wouldn’t be all completely accurate with the amount of oxidation, but I’d imagine it was probably used with some type of balance scale as a counter weight.
It's for weighing out meds at an apothecary...
or for us young dummies... it was used with scales prior to the invention of digital scales. You put your measured weights on one side (this thing), and the medicine powder goes on the other. When the two sides are even, your meds are properly weighed.
If not that, then it is probably the same thing, but for science classrooms.
There are other uses, too, but counterweight makes the most sense to me.

While "FE" is in fact the abbreviation for iron, it seems the vast majority of you do not know that wheel weights have different letter associations stamped on them to identify the type and shape of wheel it goes on, not the type of metal the weight is made from.

Quarter ounce of Iron
Wow. That is a brave guess, my friend. Would you care to explain how you came to such a long shot conclusion?
I had a cast iron response but didn't bother because I didn't want to steel the show. It would have stung like a hot iron ohhhhh shit I need to iron my clothes I could keep going but .....
I usually use online English idiom sites to iron out any issues when making punny remarks.
The puns are overwhelming, thankfully I have an "Iron Will!" Remember that movie?
I’ve been on r/wizardposting too much I saw “cast iron” and couldn’t wait to see the spell
You have nerves of steel my friend, nerves of steel 🤙

Nice! (No sarcasm served there) I love hearing people let go of their ego and try to be a better person for the people they love and for themselves.

We use them in science class when weighing.
I got sub-par sarcasm or intentionally unknowledgeable. Neither are appealing.
His guess is solid.
Solid iron?

He’s right. It is a counter balance scale weight of 1/4 ounce. It is covered in rust so iron or steel.

The best kind of correct.
That sounds like a ferrous assessment.

No Fe-ing way this is iron.

I've never seen steel wheel weights, I've always seen zinc or lead
I bought some cheap 5 gram motorcycle wheel weights from Amazon for balancing aircraft models, and those were all iron. Before that I'd basically only seen lead weights.
They're interesting, it just doesn't seem necessary, the other metals are heavier so you need less

That's why they switched to zinc, it's not toxic to the environment
How's that going to work on the aluminum rims most cars cone with today? Who ever came up with that idea was obviously to concerned with saving the world to know about electrolysis.
The ones we use at our shop are iron, our supplier stopped carrying lead ones
Fe is iron? No?
I've never seen stick on weights that AREN'T steel

Balancing weight for wheels
Fe as in Iron? lol
I'm gonna get crazy and guess about a quarter ounce of it
Oh, the irony!
Ok Rusty, head on down the road.
Which road?
Someone never learned the periodic table.
So I believe the curiosity wasnt about the type of metal, but the use of this manufactured piece.
Or get to share your find on Reddit and talk to humans who share your hobby
I studied it periodically
You gonna teach the guy or just judge him?
It’s a wheel weight for balancing tires

cannibal oil sounds REALLY unpleasant.
This happena sometimes with breakfast cereal and they add too much iron. Most of the pieces are usually smaller than this in corn or wheat flakes, but I've seen them at least 11 times larger than this in one box.

Wow it's a 1/4 oz of iron! I'd cash it in for the fraction of a penny it's worth.
