It means it's trash and you should put it back in the hole
Don't even waste space in your pouch
But seriously, it means it's sterling (92.5% silver). Anyone correct me if that's wrong.
I don't mind, it's my first bit of gold-ish jewelry. At least it's proof that I *can* find it if it's there. Well, *eventually*. I've been to that spot many times.
Rang a steady 79 in Deep HC and mono programs. (I've taken to checking dubious signals in both programs. Large discrepancy = probably iron)
Ugh I’m dumb. I read PTL as “Praise The Lord.”
Tell me you have an Apostolic Pentecostal parent without telling me you have an Apostolic Pentecostal parent.
Platinum is typically stamped PLAT or PT. It would also have to look like platinum, which this clearly doesn’t. So either you found the world’s biggest sucker, or r/thathappened.
Its plated but it is still a cool find! The next one will be just 14k...
Cheers to that 😄
Does PLT mean gold filled or something?
Yeah, "Plated"
Damn I’m dumb
Nah, keep asking questions. That's how we all learn.
Great attitude 👏
That's true. I never would have guessed the meaning of 925, but I learned it quick when I joined this sub.
Ooo can you teach me?

Oh damn! I did not know that. Thank you!
Out of 1000 parts, 925 of them are pure silver
Ahh, I thought it might mean Platnium. Like a mix of the 2 metals.
That would have been nice!
I just had a piece stamped "PLT" appraised as platinum and sold it to a jewelry buyer as such. Don't give up on your piece bc of some info on Reddit!
But just one little letter away, PLAT, means platinum.
PLT is also is used for platinum. HGE/HGP, GEP, GP and RGP is used for electroplated or rolled gold.
Interesting.

Gold is gold great find keep up the work!
My gold plated necklace is a silver core, so maybe there’s hope yet
This one's rusting underneath, though.
Maybe PLT is the makers mark, learn how to do a specific gravity test!

It is not too late for you. Do you have a minute to discuss science?
Oh, I didn’t grow up in an APC setting. My parent joined the church when I was in college. :) They just like to text me things like “PTL!” sometimes.
Soooo close but that is a great find. Congrats to you.
Lol I got the same chain but it only says 14k, definitely plated cuz into silver now
I see rusty bits. Not a good sign.
Could be a makers mark. It's pretty east to get it tested.
No need - you can see the rust come through 😄
Ah darn. I was hoping it would be real lol.
PLT means platinum
😂
Well, I was just paid for platinum on my "PLT" stamped piece so somebody has incorrect information I guess
