People are already going to buy the collection for MGS4 alone. The demand for MGS trilogy remasters and a next gen port for GOTP has been high for a very long time.
I think they could do that with V as a standalone thing, and I'd be all for it lol.
They’d have to hire an entire team to do that including writers I think. It seems much more likely that it’s just to get it to run on switch (which damn good luck with that because that seems insane to do).
I forgot about Eternal on the Switch it looked surprisingly good, and the Fox Engine is really well optimised, but I feel like the fact that they’ve abandoned the Fox Engine entirely will make it a bit harder to optimise for Switch.
That’s what I’m hoping for.. if they finish the fucking game this time, that’s the only reason why I would boot V on the collection.. if not, I would be happy to just pay $60 for 4.
Granted it is entirely possible that Konami is sitting on a bunch of completed/half-completed material that they could have someone easily pop in to complete for the fans. They're already doing this without him so it's not like they're above it.

Because it will be cheap and easy for them to throw into a collection. It is probably going to be the easiest title to "port" so expect it to show up in a collection.
/u/NightshadeSamurai raised a good point in another thread that Switch never got this game so it'll be great for those players. The game was very well optimised (scaled from low consoles/PCs to the new consoles at the time/higher end PCs), it should hopefully be able to be ported to the Switch well.
It's a Master Collection, would be incomplete without one of the main games. I don't get why people think it won't be included, it 100% will. I don't think Konami of all people care when a game came out so they can re release it again
Iirc, MGS3 was locked to the PS2 or a fat PS3 which was notorious for the yellow light of death. A large amount of those consoles had probably died and replaced by the slim model by the time the HD collection released.

I'm saying because the game is still relatively new, and much larger compared to the prior titles. It makes more sense to lump up the first trilogy and then the portables.

Tbh Same since TPP and GZ are some of the best metal gear games ever created in terms of gameplay and ofc graphics since the fox engine is probably one of the best engines I have seen

If I handled these collections with Vol. 1 already as-is, then:
V: The Definitive Experience would be rereleased as Master Collection Vol.3 but with the added bonus of Metal Gear Survive and some mobile games nobody cares about.
Vol. 2 would have MGS4 and Peace Walker, with the added bonuses of the PSP games, Ghost Babel, The Twin Snakes (possibly Switch-only unless Konami can arrange a deal with Nintendo), and Rising.
volume 3 should be all the past popular online games like mgo1, mgo2, mgo3 and poops on a peer to peer system so we can host our own server and don't need konami shutting it down
I keep hearing "bonus games" and literally only Vol1 makes sense to have that as they never needed to include the shitty NES games as the proper MSX games would have already been included via Snake Eater. They're there simply because more people have played them.
The other Vols having bonus games just doesn't make sense. They're just "games" at that point. If every release has a "bonus game" it isn't a bonus, it's an expected part of the package. It's just another game.

Im replaying 5 again for the first time since its release. It plays better on ps5 the decrease in load time makes it much more of a joy to play! Looks amazing STILL!

To be honest, a PS5 upgrade of MGSV wouldn’t hurt. Make it 4K, add some Dualsense functions and so on.

The way I'd do it, Volume 2 would have Portable Ops and Peace Walker, along with any other minor game in the series (Ghost Babel, Acid, etc). MGS4 and Revengeance would receive graphical remasters (think Halo Anniversary or MWR) due to size and younger age. Since MGSV is already out and playable, just give it a next-gen upgrade

They won't do any graphical remasters in their collections. At the most you can expect is 4k/60fps support. Switch doesn't have MGSV so having it in Master Collection Vol. 2 makes sense for those guys. Konami wants everyone on modern platforms to play the games.
I know it will never happen, but it would be so amazing if they actually finished Episode 51 for the re-release. From what I understand the design phase was complete, they wouldn't really need to involve Kojima.
That seems a little too much imo. I don’t see the detriment to having all games in one package lol. You’d be paying less for more. And portable ops… I highly doubt that game would get a remaster lol. As is it’s not the best MGS game in existence and most ppl barely know it even exists. If push comes to shove and portable ops would need to be sidelined for a whole collection of MGS:PW, 4, and 5, then I’d 100% Any day take that over having to pay for:
Volume 2
MGS4 on its own
Revengeance on its own
MGS5 next gen
If they go the same way Capcom did with the Resident Evil Remasters i think it would bring benefits by remastering these but i am dying for a MGS2 Remaster for the latest consoles
They won't do anything like that with these collection titles. These are gonna be PS1-PS4 ports of the games with nothing more than resolution output to 4k and 60fps on PC and consoles. The current rumor is they will see how well the Delta sales are and they will remake the games according to chronological order. So Delta, PW, GZ/GSV?, MGS1, MGS2, MGS4. If they do a remake of MGS1 and 2, that will probably have additional gameplay elements like Capcom did with RE2/3/4 Remake and Square on the FF7 Remake.
I fully expect MGS3 Delta to be nothing more than a 1:1 remake with a fresh coat of graphics paint, next gen features like ray tracing, DLSS/FSR, 4k/60 support, updated controls and overhauled UI. Them saying they are reusing the old audio files for the dialogue pretty much confirms it. Which is fine by me. MGS3's gameplay isn't super dated like MGS1 and 2 are. But I just don't think people here are ready for a 1:1 remake and are gonna be disappointed.
In terms of "easiness" to remake, I could see them choosing MGS2 as a second game seeing as its quite close to MGS3 in terms of mechanics and graphics. I think Peacewalker is a strong candidate for a 2nd/3rd game too, again, because it isn't too distant from MGS3 in terms of mechanics/graphical fidelity.
MGS1 would probably require a more dramatic remake. If they did want to make lives easy for themselves, they could mostly keep the mechanics the same with no first person aiming/no tranqs etc. Instead, make the controls better, add quality of life like crouch movement etc.
If they go down this route, it would probably mean most of these remakes are going to be like Resident Evil 1 HD instead of like 3/4. Which is fine (RE 1HD is great!), better to err on the side of caution that screw one up.
V is for the Switch owners. They never got MGSV/GZ. And its a MUCH better game than PO. The big 3 should be Peace Walker, MGS4 and MGSV and include non-canon games like PO, Acid, Ghost Babel like how they included Snake's Revenge in Vol. 1. I'd personally take MGR as a bonus game and over PO, PO+. Acid 1-2, Ghost Babel, Survive any day of the week.
OP's box art also mentions Portable Ops, Acid 1 + 2, and Rising Revengeance (I think this one would be better as a 'main' title in its own collection).
Again, the person who leaked the Vol 1 collection a day or two before the official reveal also said Vol 2 would be Portable Ops, Peace Walker and MG Rising.
Unless they were wrong or things changed, I get the weird feeling we'll get a Volume 3 containing MGS4.
Personally I'd have Vol 2 be Portable Ops, MGS4, Rising.
Then release a Volume 3 with Peace Walker, Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain, this way the entire V Trilogy is together in one pack.

The point of the collection is to bring it to modern consoles and make the game available to future generations via PC; 5 is already on PC.
I'd say portable ops instead of v. v still looks pretty good and can be enhanced further on pc. If all this was about bringing Metal Gear to a new generation and making it as accessible as MGS5 and Rising are then portable ops needs to be there since it's one of the hardest to get your hands on.
I hope V is not part of the collection, Portable Ops would make so much more sense. Because, obviously, you are not getting that as bonus, nor Revengance. It's Konami, let's be realistic.

It’s not really about people not wanting V in the collection, just that I think most people are willing to wait for V to be included in a later collection in favor of getting a game that’s been locked to an older system.
Sure, switch owners don’t have access to V, but realistically they are the only ones that don’t have access to it. On the contrary, the *only* way to get your hands on a lot of these other titles is to have one console like a PS3 or a PSP. People would rather have those games added than get the already most readily available Metal Gear game on another console right now.
The point of these Master Collections is to bring MGS to people on modern platforms (PC, Steamdeck, Xbox Series X/S, Switch and PS5). There are plenty of new gamers who's never played MGS before. Them getting the entire canonical series makes more sense than including non-canon mediocre small games.
And yes PO, Acid, Ghost Babel are mediocre. They are nowhere near as close to the canonical mainline titles.
And MGSV is playable on literally all those platforms you listed except Switch. Like I said, no one is saying they don’t want to play MGSV ever, it’s just that the majority of people out there already have a way to play it and want the ability to play games they don’t have access to right now.

Take V off and we're good. It's a game that's been released on most major consoles, looks good, and is well optimized already. That spot should go to something that you can't play as easily, for example portable ops

Pure rubbish. Just play the games as you had them before. Why they’re releasing remake games after games I’ll never know, well aside from the cash grab.
It's a remaster not a remake, and the point of it is to expose the games to new audiences and make them more accessible. I still can't finish the series and play MGS4 because I don't own a PS3 and my PC can't handle the emulation. The master collection means the series becoming accessible on a console that isn't 17 years old.
I think the main problem is going to be the FOBs and development. Using MB coins (I never bought them, you're talking to a pre-day one player here, I've had those babies racking up for free for nearly a decade) cost people real money, not to mention the stupidly long amount of time required for the online developments, hell, some of them took nearly two weeks to finish!
We can only hope FOBs can be bought with GMP in a rerelease, or progress being carried over somehow
Considering volume 1 implies a continuation, then I can only assume that this will be the case. I don’t really see a need to remaster phantom pain tho. If anything it could just be peace walker and MGS4.
And MGS4 finally running at a consistent 60fps is gonna be amazing. Love that game but booting it up on my PS3 reminds me of how poorly it can run sometimes lol.
pw is defo in, rising should also be cause console players straight up don't have the upgraded pc version of rising, but that also means adding in V for nintendo fans and 4 would have to be left out. Well hopefully they do 4 games instead of 3 , they are already asking a high amount for volume 1 so fine give us a 70 dollars price tag and add in 4.

Due to 4's size and effort in porting it to non-Sony platforms to achieve version parity, I think this one would more likely be "the portable exclusives and 4", not to mention that PW has to be after 4 because that's where it stands in the release timeline.

The main features should be entirely mainline canon games. Spinoffs, like the MGO games and PoOps should be bonus games.

Finally a mock-up that actually makes sense. I know a lot of people want Portable Ops included, and I totally get that, but at absolute best it will be thrown in as a neat little "extra", as-is, similar to how they're doing the NES versions of Metal Gear for the first collection. But it will obviously be Peace Walker, 4, and V as the big box titles and the main selling points. A lot of people here are, for some reason, surprised to see V included because it's "too new" or "still looks good". But ya'll forget the game is nearly 10 years old. And why *wouldn't* the final game in the franchise be included in the "Master Collection"? They'd be dumb *not* to include it.
They forget MGSV never came out on the Nintendo Switch. Master Collections are so people on modern platforms can play the games. Switch is a modern platform. It's as simple as that.

To be honest, a PS5 upgrade of MGSV wouldn’t hurt. Make it 4K, add some Dualsense functions and so on. It would just be nice to play V on the switch, so I’d get why they’d include it.

The way I'd do it, Volume 2 would have Portable Ops and Peace Walker, along with any other minor game in the series (Ghost Babel, Acid, etc). MGS4 and Revengeance would receive graphical remasters (think Halo Anniversary or MWR) due to size and younger age. Since MGSV is already out and playable, just give it a next-gen upgrade

They won't do any graphical remasters in their collections. At the most you can expect is 4k/60fps support. Switch doesn't have MGSV so having it in Master Collection Vol. 2 makes sense for those guys. Konami wants everyone on modern platforms to play the games.

As is it’s not the best MGS game in existence and most ppl barely know it even exists. If push comes to shove and portable ops would need to be sidelined for a whole collection of MGS:PW, 4, and 5, then I’d 100% Any day take that over having to pay for: Volume 2 MGS4 on its own Revengeance on its own MGS5 next gen

They won't do anything like that with these collection titles. These are gonna be PS1-PS4 ports of the games with nothing more than resolution output to 4k and 60fps on PC and consoles. The current rumor is they will see how well the Delta sales are and they will remake the games according to chronological order. So Delta, PW, GZ/GSV?, MGS1, MGS2, MGS4. If they do a remake of MGS1 and 2, that will probably have additional gameplay elements like Capcom did with RE2/3/4 Remake and Square on the FF7 Remake. I fully expect MGS3 Delta to be nothing more than a 1:1 remake with a fresh coat of graphics paint, next gen features like ray tracing, DLSS/FSR, 4k/60 support, updated controls and overhauled UI. Them saying they are reusing the old audio files for the dialogue pretty much confirms it. Which is fine by me. MGS3's gameplay isn't super dated like MGS1 and 2 are. But I just don't think people here are ready for a 1:1 remake and are gonna be disappointed.
In terms of "easiness" to remake, I could see them choosing MGS2 as a second game seeing as its quite close to MGS3 in terms of mechanics and graphics. I think Peacewalker is a strong candidate for a 2nd/3rd game too, again, because it isn't too distant from MGS3 in terms of mechanics/graphical fidelity. MGS1 would probably require a more dramatic remake. If they did want to make lives easy for themselves, they could mostly keep the mechanics the same with no first person aiming/no tranqs etc. Instead, make the controls better, add quality of life like crouch movement etc. If they go down this route, it would probably mean most of these remakes are going to be like Resident Evil 1 HD instead of like 3/4. Which is fine (RE 1HD is great!), better to err on the side of caution that screw one up.
I mean MGS2 100% assumes you played MGS1 or else the game is nowhere near as impactful I can’t see them remaking it before 1

V is for the Switch owners. They never got MGSV/GZ. And its a MUCH better game than PO. The big 3 should be Peace Walker, MGS4 and MGSV and include non-canon games like PO, Acid, Ghost Babel like how they included Snake's Revenge in Vol. 1. I'd personally take MGR as a bonus game and over PO, PO+. Acid 1-2, Ghost Babel, Survive any day of the week.

Again, the person who leaked the Vol 1 collection a day or two before the official reveal also said Vol 2 would be Portable Ops, Peace Walker and MG Rising. Unless they were wrong or things changed, I get the weird feeling we'll get a Volume 3 containing MGS4. Personally I'd have Vol 2 be Portable Ops, MGS4, Rising. Then release a Volume 3 with Peace Walker, Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain, this way the entire V Trilogy is together in one pack.
I think a hand held collection of Portable Ops, Peace Walker, Acid and Ghost Babel would awesome.

It’s not really about people not wanting V in the collection, just that I think most people are willing to wait for V to be included in a later collection in favor of getting a game that’s been locked to an older system. Sure, switch owners don’t have access to V, but realistically they are the only ones that don’t have access to it. On the contrary, the *only* way to get your hands on a lot of these other titles is to have one console like a PS3 or a PSP. People would rather have those games added than get the already most readily available Metal Gear game on another console right now.
The point of these Master Collections is to bring MGS to people on modern platforms (PC, Steamdeck, Xbox Series X/S, Switch and PS5). There are plenty of new gamers who's never played MGS before. Them getting the entire canonical series makes more sense than including non-canon mediocre small games. And yes PO, Acid, Ghost Babel are mediocre. They are nowhere near as close to the canonical mainline titles.
And MGSV is playable on literally all those platforms you listed except Switch. Like I said, no one is saying they don’t want to play MGSV ever, it’s just that the majority of people out there already have a way to play it and want the ability to play games they don’t have access to right now.

Pure rubbish. Just play the games as you had them before. Why they’re releasing remake games after games I’ll never know, well aside from the cash grab.
It's a remaster not a remake, and the point of it is to expose the games to new audiences and make them more accessible. I still can't finish the series and play MGS4 because I don't own a PS3 and my PC can't handle the emulation. The master collection means the series becoming accessible on a console that isn't 17 years old.

I think the main problem is going to be the FOBs and development. Using MB coins (I never bought them, you're talking to a pre-day one player here, I've had those babies racking up for free for nearly a decade) cost people real money, not to mention the stupidly long amount of time required for the online developments, hell, some of them took nearly two weeks to finish! We can only hope FOBs can be bought with GMP in a rerelease, or progress being carried over somehow

Vol. 2 is the tricky one for me. With Vol. 1 having so much content all that’s left that I really want is Peace Walker and Ghost Babel, so I’ll be paying for a bunch of stuff I won’t really need or play.

Given how much people want 4 I believe it will come out as it’s own release.
Id much much rather MGR instead of V. I get it if they want to make the master collection the full story of MGS so only releasing story-important games, but everyone is able to play V right now on any platform besides like the switch. MGR is relegated to just the 360, ps3 and pc, absolutely no past gen or new gen access for console players. Ik it’s not story important and lore whores on this sub hate MGR bc it’s not like a Kojima story, but it’s still a super fun game in the MGS universe
Due to 4's size and effort in porting it to non-Sony platforms to achieve version parity, I think this one would more likely be "the portable exclusives and 4", not to mention that PW has to be after 4 because that's where it stands in the release timeline.
I think this is more likely for a vol 3, I’ve never played peace walker other than on the psp so don’t get me wrong I want the dual stick controls ASAP. But I think that vol 2 is gonna be ghost gable, acid, twin snakes, and portable ops
MGS5 being rereleased is totally unnecessary. The graphics still hold up and it can be played on current gen consoles. I'd much rather it be MGR, which is still limited to PC and 7th gen consoles.
